There was a lady struggling to get her car out of the snow, my boyfriend and I got out to help but we didn’t have much luck. Fortunately, two men from the company were coming down the street with a snow plow and we asked them to help us. They were kind enough to take time out of their day and help us get her back on the road. Seriously cannot thank them enough!
I would highly recommend this company for any local landscape needs. I submitted an online form and I believe Phil came out the next day to give a quote. I filled out forms on 3-4 other local landscaping companies websites, and never heard back from a single one. He sent out a team of 4 guys to get the job done a few weeks later. They were hard workers and our landscaping came out so great. Good communication before, during, and after via email. It all turned out way better than we could have ever expected! We received a handwritten note in the mail a few weeks ago thanking us for trusting them to do the job. When was the last time you got a handwritten note? Never nowadays! This morning, I opened my mailbox to find a Christmas tin full of homemade baklava from their team to wish us happy holidays. Super unexpected for these nice personal touches. Things like this are why you would refer them to someone you know! Since we got our landscaping redone this Fall, I am so excited to see everything in the spring when it is in bloom. Liapis Landscape and Design did an outstanding job on our property and this was just the "fall clean up"!!!! The attention to detail and meticulous work far exceeded our expectations of what a fall clean up would entail and we could not be more appreciative. It's not often that we give someone 5 stars for service. Not because we're hard to please, but simply that a "5" has to be truly exceptional service, over and above what we'd expected. Phil and the Liapis team delivered that kind of service, and earned these 5 stars. First of all: It started with Phil Liapis, the owner, who was just terrific to work with; so professional, so patient, so flexible, and just a really nice guy. His communication and follow-up were impeccable - we had 3 different landscaping companies come out to give us an estimate, and Phil's follow-up and communication was by far leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else's. Second: Phil's crew was so professional, they were spot on timely showing up to start, their work ethic was excellent, very focused, they were efficient and their work was artistic and beautiful, impeccable, above and beyond our expectations. They accomplished a couple of things that we did not think was possible, and it all looks just great!!! The crew's communication was excellent, all around great to work with - Antonio checked in with us before they left to see if there was anything else we needed or that they'd overlooked, and we were able to get one last thing taken care of. We couldn't be more pleased. We couldn't recommend Phil and the Liapis crew any more highly - if you've got landscaping to be done, and (especially if) you've neglected it for awhile, DO NOT HESITATE to call Phil. Phil and the team were a great help with our water problems. We worked with a landscaping company last year on them and they only made everything worse. (Previous review on my page). Not only did Phil have to fix everything they screwed up, he had to deal with my yard from hell. I don’t know how the first landscapers didn’t catch it, but our yard sits on a natural spring. So, water is always 2 feet below the surface. Phil and the team worked through this issue, even if it was a challenge. We now have a nicely graded yard, water mitigation, and patio to help stop water from getting into the house. 10/10 recommend.
We recently had the pleasure of working with Liapis Landscape & Design for a complete transformation of our backyard after installing a new deck and koi pond. What was once a muddy yard with sparse grass has now become a beautiful oasis, thanks to their exceptional work. Liapis Landscape & Design utilized over 160 new shade-loving plants, including a stunning Limelight Hydrangea tree, fragrant Miss Kim Lilacs, Oakleaf Hydrangea, lush ferns, and a wide variety of hostas and Coral Bells. Landscape Project - Beautiful finished product: stone walking path, lights, shrubs and sod (also drainage and grading). We use Liapis for lawn mowing and yearly bed maintenance but had never used them for any significant landscaping or hardscaping. In March of ‘23 we were ready to undertake a fairly significant project and met with Phil a few separate times to discuss our objectives. We needed to repair severely damaged sod in our backyard with something durable and aesthetic that could withstand the rigors of dogs and kids. Phil was energetic and enthusiastic about the potential for our project while immediately recognizing latent issues that needed addressing (e.g., drainage). After a few follow-up appointments, Phil concluded that a stone walking path combined with new sod (at a more appropriate grade) would be our best bet. His conclusion was dead accurate. Fast forward to June. The install team, led by Mike, was superb. They were meticulous and conscientious. They were also patient with this hands-on homeowner. Worth specifically pointing out: the underground irrigation was constantly observed; they never used their machinery in its vicinity and hand dug around everything. There were no cuts, leaks, or broken sprinklers at the end of the project. Also worth noting: they were always willing to make incremental changes—at this hands-on homeowner’s behest— to something they had already finished. If a bush needed moved two feet to the left, they happily moved it. Last noteworthy point: to access our yard with their Bobcat, the guys needed to drive through our neighbor’s adjacent lot, which expectedly ruined their grass. But this was taken into account from the outset and new sod was installed on our neighbor’s land at no charge. Phil is a gregarious, intelligent guy who is fun and easy to work with. He is also honest. So it is only right that this review be honest, too. There were some frustrations throughout the project, most notably communication. It was particularly difficult to ascertain the install schedule and where we fell within that schedule. It was also difficult to understand what was the team’s objective on a given day and what was the objective after that. Many emails and inquiries were sent about when the team would be out to work, and what they would be working on. All this was rectified, though. We spoke candidly to Phil about wrapping up the project and what was needed and by when. His office team, led by Kayla, made an effort to be attentive and more communicative, especially when it came to identifying who would be out, what they would be doing, and when. And with a deadline looming, Liapis responded promptly and professionally—they made it a priority to complete the project by our required date and did so with no sacrifice to the quality of work. We wound up with a stunning stone path and a lush sodded yard. There was no compromising when it came to materials; everything was first rate. By hiring Liapis, you will have the pleasure of working with Phil, who could pass for a nightclub entertainer or standup comedian. He is friendly and legitimately interested in your goals. He is also extraordinarily capable and will actively participate in the evolution of the project to ensure its success. You will also be treated with respect and patience by the front office. But most importantly, you will get a beautiful work product at a reasonable cost. Liapis has the resources to handle a large-scale project, and the touch to handle it like a local business. We will continue to use them for many projects in the future.
Liapis came in and redid our front yard. We had asked for a low maintenance garden that didn't require frequent watering. About half of it is well done, the other half not so much. They tore out all of our old weed barrier cloth and didn't replace it with new stuff, contrary to what we were told. I had made the incorrect assumption that a landscaping company would do that by default, but was told it wasn't written in. Strangely, the workers brought a big role of weed barrier cloth, just didn't install it. The result is a garden that requires weed pulling every week or two (pic attached shows typical weeds grown in 2 weeks). They've already had to come in and replace a bush that died and replaced it with a bush of a different species without telling us (also in the pic, bush in the center). The sod is dying despite following their watering instructions (pic attached). When they came to replace a few of the plants, they tore up the dirt/mulch in the area and didn't re-cover it. This Liapis job has required more maintenance and watering than we had before they came in.
Very professional and high quality landscape and design service. They have done work for my family and I in Oakwood and Centerville and always do a phenomenal job. I recommend them without reservation!
The job looks great. The landscape crew was friendly and polite. They cleaned up the old mulch, and the new mulch looks much better than the job Siebenthalers did last year.

Do not recommend this horrible landscaping crew. They said they ran out of gas and needed some money to mow my lawn because their boss was over an hour away.. i gave them 20.00 cash and the crew never came back and they let my grass grow for 2 more weeks before the boss decided to come and mow the lawn and added an extra charge because he had to do it on short notice out of his area. Wouldnt recommend to my worst neighbor.
I had them clean and mulch my flower beds. They did an amazing job. I would highly recommend this company.

The crew from Liapis Landscape & Design completed our front and back yard landscaping on Wednesday, 08/02. The results are absolutely wonderful! We are very happy with everything, including the design. Each member of the team worked tirelessly throughout the day, only breaking for a short lunch. They even encountered and dealt with a bee s nest that was uncovered when pulling out one of the old bushes. We are very happy and impressed with the results and commend each and every worker. They turned our messy, overgrown, and dying yard into a beautiful, serene oasis! Liapis Landscaping has a terrific team! Liapis did an awesome job on our backyard. A crew of 5 very professional young men created a pad for our hot tub, moved a giant boulder, planted 8 trees, laid sod, spread mulch in our beds and rock along the side of our house all in one day! Thank you for your hard work. Our yard looks awesome!

We had this company for 3 or 4 years, But they decided to drop us this year, Our property is literally 5 minutes away from their office and our yard took the guys about 20 minutes to mow.... Very disappointing!!
They break stuff and blame the wrong person for it
I have worked with Liapis for a couple years, but I had a great experience that I wanted to share. So my wife is pregnant, and we usually do our own mulching. We wanted to get mulching and some other stuff done this year. We called Justin and got it set up. He said that they were booked up solid for a while, but asked if we had anything coming up that we would need a nice looking lawn. We told him about the baby shower, but we were not too worried about it. He said that they would try to get out before the baby shower, not something we were expecting. The guys showed up, in a very cold and snowy day, two days before the shower and made our yard beautiful. They forgot to do the edging, but in the cold who could blame them, we called and said the yard looks great but whenever you can get out to do the edging it will work for us. They were out the very next day to get that done, a whole day before the shower. I am a critic, but Liapis really showed out on this one.
Liapis created my landscape design and has done a great job helping out in projects since.

Felt moved to write a stellar review when stellar service seems to be hard to find these days. I had my locust tree trimmed and a side stump pulled by Ed and his team, and they did an excellent job. They undercut the competition by $50 and when the competition said theyd be here in a month, Ed said Ill be there tomorrow. And he was. And it was like they were never here! Fast service accomplished in an afternoon and total clean up of the job site. Will use again and recommend to family and friends.

We recently hired Liapis to design and install new landscaping in our front yard. Our original landscaping was boring and just seemed like the wrong fit for the house, plus we had a quirky space similar to a courtyard that I had no idea what to do with! Liapis was the only contractor we contacted that addressed this space with creativity, and we ultimately loved their design ideas. There was one small hiccup during install where the wrong type of drain pipes were laid, but it was immediately rectified that same day. The finished product looks great and our yard looks so much better now! Im sure Ill be calling on Liapis again when were ready to tackle the backyard!

Unfortunately, my experience with Liapis was not good, which was surprising because of all the strong reviews. I felt compelled to write this because I do not feel as though I was treated right in this situation. First, I used their website to submit a request for quote. More than a week went by and I received no response. Its possible that their reply didnt reach my inbox (if they sent one at all), so it didnt bother me that much. I decided to call and schedule an appointment instead. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and scheduled me for an appointment the following Wednesday at 12:00pm. On the day of my appointment, I pulled in my driveway at 11:57am, went inside and sat in my house looking directly out the window at my driveway. At 12:11pm, I called their office and said no one had shown up yet. First, she says they were there before noon, but since no one was here, they left. I told them I had been here since 11:57 so they must have just missed me can they come back? She said she would try to call her guy in the field and see if he could come back. He apparently told her he was there a little after 12pm too, knocked on the door, and left. I can 100% say for certainty that is not true. I was literally staring out the window at my driveway the whole time. There was no knock. There was no phone call. There was nothing. My guess is the guy drove by right before I got home, saw my car wasnt there, and just took off. The office lady said he couldnt come back today and they would have to reschedule. I told her to forget it and will gladly be taking my business elsewhere. Im sure they do great work, but unfortunately they seem to struggle with communication. I mean, how do you not call me if youre at my house waiting and there is a car in the driveway? If I wouldnt have called them back, would they have ever even reached out to me?
I have a friend who used Liapis for his backyard and was very impressed. Wanted to use them for my backyard but never heard back from them after they came out and took a look at my yard.
Dont use this landscaper if youre a one-time small house customer. They seem to give priority to large, corporate or weekly mowing/landscaping jobs. I called in March for a spring cleanup and remulching and was told there was a 2-3 week wait for my ~$1300 job. They didnt end up coming until almost two months later, literally the day before I needed the job done. And they only came that day because I called to see the status of when they were going to get to me the day before. I got home that afternoon to old mulch and debris all over my yard, as if they didnt rake after themselves when removing all of the old mulch and brush. They also didnt take a large part of the brush pile that was promised to be removed in the quote. The confusion on the brush pile was understandable, so I allowed them to come back out and refinish the job (they finally got back about a month later...), and they still left part of the brush pile. So I had them come out a THIRD time and they finally got it, but they didnt put the weed mat down in the spot where the final part of the pile was, so weeds grew through the mulch in that spot. I ended up just getting the weed mat myself and finishing the job on my own. Other issues: The mulch they laid down in the mulch beds was so thin in spots that after it rained a few times (super rainy in June), the mulch redistributed itself leaving bare spots in my mulch beds. Their mulch had some weird fungus in it and now Ive got all sorts of weird mushrooms and fungus growing that Ive never had before. Im still picking up pieces of debris and old mulch every time I mow. It took a total of four months from my first phone call to Liapis to me closing out the job and paying them (with me still needing to do some finishing work with laying the last patch of the weed mat). It was such a huge headache and guaranteed Ill never use or recommend Liapis again.
Liapis Landscape & Designs operation is truly extraordinary. I am thoroughly impressed with their professionalism they displayed and the high level of quality they hold themselves to. It was great working with such a wonderful business, and I will always recommend Liapis first. Liapis provides EXCELLENT service at a very reasonable price. The crew removed a large bed of poison ivy, an old garden bed, and replaced it all with sod--very efficiently. Also did an excellent job with pruning/ removing landscaping and weeding. I cant recommend them highly enough! Professional, efficient, skilled, and nice!
