Buckeye Lawn and Landscaping / Oheil Irrigation Company in Dayton

This company did landscaping for me a little over a year ago, and they did a horrible job. First, communication was terrible all along as they rarely kept me updated when they would start the project, then once they started the job never said a word to me, the crew just packed up and left when they were done, not telling me anything about what they did, what they put in, or the best care and treatment for it. I researched myself based off the names of all the plants I saw on the plot design. Then, they didnt even put in the item that I said was the most important to me, medium evergreens (4-5 tall) on each side of my front door and garage that we could wrap Christmas lights around. Instead, I got little tiny bushes that are barely a foot tall and they are dying now too (as you can see in the photos)! Many of the other flowers have already died as well. There was a nice small tree/bush in the back flower bed that I actually liked, but it died in a few months. They came and planted another one, and it has died too! I have given up. It was a waste of a LOT of money to have them do my landscaping. Save yourself the trouble and embarrassment, and find another company that will do a better job for you! ***UPDATE *** After reading my post, the man running this company contacted me and made things right! He apologized and explained done of the reasons but most importantly got my landscaping fixed and did the right thing - BRAVO! Thanks for making it right!

We had water drainage and slight flooding on our concrete patio and needed to replace a 22-year-old fence. Buckeye Landscaping did an amazing job! They went above and beyond with small extras here and there, such as adjusting a different water drainage issue on the other side of the yard by extending a drain tile several more feet and away from the house. There are so many other examples of them going beyond to make sure the project was done to the highest level of craftsmanship, this post would be pages longer!

We have a small front yard, maybe 40x60; a side rock garden; and a larger back garden. We have a large deck in the back but the only lawn is the front. We garden all summer and before the irrigation system was installed we relied solely on hoses. Now, every other day the system comes on and everything stays green all summer and fall. I have only two issues. The first is they came early in the spring, maybe April, to do the install. The problem was the perrienals were just coming up, and when they were at their final they blocked many of the sprinkler heads. The solution was to add 6 or 12 extensions that never fully retract. So my suggestion is that if exact placement is important, work that with the installers who can put the head where needed but also avoid the perrienals. The second is that in a garden when you are moving plants around or replacing plants, you have no idea where the underground piping is, so you must be very careful so i dig with a small hand trowel. I recommend they mark the lines with small flags in garden areas until the owners learn where the piping is. Lastly, DO NOT let your lawn service aerate your yard unless you mark where the piping is. Mine was crushed and it was a $250 repair since they were told NOT to aerate with a foot of the sidewalk. We love our system and are glad we did it.

Came out but late. Told me I would receive a quote but that did not happen. All red flags. I did not reach out and ask about it either, because those are red flags for me. I figure that type of behavior means I dodged a bullet regarding what workmanship i was actually going to get.

They do good work, but scheduling is a bit of a chore. I always have to leave a voicemail and wait for the call back. Last time, after taking off work, the technician showed up 75minutes early, so I was not home, and therefore I had to reschedule. Technicians phone numbers are not shared so you have to go through the scheduler to communicate.

I was recommended to Buckeye as the referral had great success with them. Since such a good review, not only did I call but I called several times over a week, left messages, and called specific people (based on referrals experience). Eventually got a hold of the operator (seemingly) and left a message for sales. Dustin Stonebraker eventually got back with me and came out for an estimate and opinion. He said that I would hear back about a quote by Friday (this was on Monday). About three weeks have passed with no response or communication. Youd think a project of $20k-30k+ would get a bit more attention, but apparently they have bigger and more important projects, in which case a small 1-star review would not get too much attention. I will probably end up general contracting it myself....

Buckeye Lawn and landscaping has been great. They are both dependable and conscientious in how they managed my lawn service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing lawn care service.

Since moving to a new house in 2020, I have had a sprinkler system. For me, installing, using, and maintaining a sprinikler system is expensive, but since I have it, I do use it. Buckeye Oheil has maintained, serviced, and and made improvements to our sprinkler system. They do a good job, and for what they do, their prices are reasonable.

This firm always does a good job. Show up when they are scheduled and does the work very well. They have been doing our work for over 25 years and have always done a fine job.

Sooo disappointed. I was told by the mower, Im only one man. He refused to mow the entire lawn. He stated the grade was too steep.When I suggested weed eating the more steep areas I was once again met with the same excuses as before. The Oheil team installed my new sprinkler system this summer and did a fantastic job! Everyone who worked on our project was friendly, knowledgable and professional. Also, the team in the office was great, too. They always answered my questions, explained the job and made it a great experience. Had Buckeye/Oheil burry our down spouts Fall of 2020. Great job. In August 2021 they redid our paver patio, part of the retaining/seating wall and put down rock around the patio. Excellent work and easy to work with. Midway through the project, I asked if they could rip out three rose bushes and plant a couple trees. They took care of it no problem. Very happy customer and recommend Buckeye/Oheil for your project.

No matter what job I want accomplished, Buckeye lawn and landscape has always given me a fair price, were responsive, punctual, knowledgeable, hard-working, and extremely ethical. There are alot of places out there however, we swear on Buckeye Lawn and Landscaping/Oheil Irrigation Company, and wont use anyone else. These guys work hard and are funny. The work they did for my moms house was perfection. The are the best in Dayton, Ohio!

Just terrible customer service. They never follow up on appointment scheduling and do not complete jobs. We have been trying to get lighting and irrigation repairs for 2 seasons now with no follow through. We obviously will not use them anymore. As an update for everyone given the management response below - do not be fooled - we absolutely called and emailed and spoke to people MANY times. They did not resolve the situation and never had management return our call.

Dan Moore was wonderful to work with! He came to my home to personally quote us for a job and made sure to get us on the schedule as soon as possible. He was very helpful and answered all of my questions. The work done by Clint and his team was great. Very professional and looks great. The crew showed up on time and did all the work in a timely manner. They cleaned up after themselves and the work was done so well. I asked my neighbor who was going to do his landscape job. As I was looking for someone to do some work myself. He came by my house and told me they had finished the job and to come see how I liked it. He is young 25 new college grad so I did not expect that he would have much experience in home ownership. I was flabbergasted to see the finished product. It was just terrible. The ground had not been built up with new top soil so it is level with the grass. The design is non existent and there is a red Japanese maple tree that will not survive in this climate and in the place it is in the yard. there was maybe 1/2 inch of mulch thrown down with no fabric underneath. They used the same design that was in the yard...removed 3 bushes and plopped down 16 (2 gallon ) plants and called it a day. The entire landscape is full of weeds again because there was no fabric put down and the area was not built up with new top soil. So this poor kid is right back where he started. I just looked at him and asked him how much he paid for this work.............HE PAID 5000.00 DOLLARS for this.............I could not believe my eyes! We own many rental properties and frankly I have dealt with landscape and yard treatments for decades. I just had Grandmas Garden do a job for us that was beautiful and cost less. ?Before you use this company........drive by 9621 Kenrick Rd and see if you think that landscape looks like 5000.00 dollars .......sad very sad.........this poor homeowner thought was what you had to pay to get a few plants from Lowes thrown in the ground.

Dustin came out and gave me a quote for my landscaping. His team came out in a timely manner. I had a couple of issues that I let Dustin know about. He had his team come out the next morning to fix the issues. I am extremely pleased with the job they did. I would recommend Buckeye to anyone that needs landscaping. Very happy customer. Exceptional customer service from start to finish. Dan Moore was a true professional, as well as his team. We had lawn damage from poor drainage. Dans team put our drainage underground and repaired our lawn with new top soil and sod. We also had them build new landscaping beds and a retainer wall around our back patio. Jason did the masonry work. He very carefully trenched out where the stones were installed, then followed a detailed process of laying in a foundation of loose stone and building the stacked wall. He stayed late to finish it. John installed all the landscaping and was very responsive to our design changes. Excellent contractor. A++++ rating from us.

Extremely disappointing customer service. I saw the good reviews and had them out for an estimate. They seemed interested in the job and told me they needed to check into something with the city and would get back to me. Never heard from them again, even after calling and leaving a message. If you dont want a job, at least give the customer the courtesy of a call back.

Buckeyes crew did a phenomenal job on the landscaping. It reminds me of a great haircut on a once shaggy dog. We have a neat and tidy yard once again.
