Terrible company. Neighbor across the street uses them for snow plowing needs and find it appropriate to push all the snow into my yard. I went out there and spoke with the driver who appeared to be a teenager said it was legal and it’s city property. It clearly is not. Contacted the police as well and a report will be filed. Very unprofessional. Update fall 2023, they like to do the same thing with leaves. Simply blowing their leaves into my yard.
HAM is consistently inconsistent. Snow plow: one of the most expensive options in the neighborhood. Ive had them for 2 years. In the 2020-2021 season they were extremely late early in the season during heavy falls but during lighter snowfalls later in the season they were more consistent. In 2021-2022 they have been a disappointment. Our friends often bet how late they will be because its somewhat comical how inconsistent they are. If there is a snowfall overnight we frequently won't be plowed until late in the afternoon or evening. If your lucky enough to get someone on the phone it's unlikely they can provide meaningful information. Landscaping: overall effective landscapers, not resolving existing issues but not worsening things either. They do a pretty good job here for the basics. Have missed services but then came out after calling. Billing: bills are frequently inaccurate. Incorrect items added for services not performed, late fees for thing paid on time.
Just look at all the other horrible one star reviews. I second the statement that if there was a possibility to leave negative stars I would. You could not possibly find a worse landscaping service. For years I have been battling with them to stop blowing their clippings from the property next door all over my yard. For years it’s the same thing over and over and over again. Whoever trains these people, if any training even occurs, should be fired immediately. In what world is it okay to blow your yard mess all over the neighbors yard and call it a day?
Hire them to redo the landscaping in our backyard. There was no attention to detail and the work was of very poor quality. The number of problems we have had with the work are too numerous to mention. When contacted about these issues with their work they offered to quote me a new job to fix their mistakes. Any guarantee from them is worthless. Do not use them.
Just had a terrible experience. Planned a memorial day cookout with family and friends and received half a cut. So they come on a Friday when it's raining and cut my front yard which looks terrible due to the fact that it was raining and they leave the back uncut. My wife is going crazy and I say they'll probably come finish tomorrow. There's no way a professional company is going to do us like that. So the next day the whole neighborhood is getting their lawn cut and my company is no where to be found . So now we are getting ready to be embarrassed as the whole neighborhood looks good and our backyard looks like a small jungle.
I would give them negative stars if possible. They dropped off stones/boulders in front our property at least two months ago to fix our creek. They took half of them away as they needed them for another job. We have paid them in advance and they don't return messages. Don't use them:(
Just having a problem with consistency, not quite happy with the service but you get what you pay for. They put in my flowerbed and two of the plants dont look healthy, when I told them about it they promised me someone would take care of it and and it never happened, and frankly I dont think it ever will..Use your own discretion. Cheaper not always better.
We contracted with HAM for a fall/spring cleanup. We were generally pleased with the work in the fall. Spring cleanup was to be done by “mid March” according to our contract. No one ever showed up. I called them today (May 28), to notify them that I would like them to return our payment for failure to complete work. The individual answering the phone said that “GPS” shows that they were at our house on Mar 27th. When I informed her that the beds are a mess and the leaves, debris, etc are evidence to the contrary, she was dismissive: “That’s not something I can address.” I invited her to send someone to look for themselves. She took my number and I am still awaiting a response. I’ve included photos of the “cleanup.”

The crew from HAM is very responsive to our requests for special handling of specific problems/situations. The spring clean-up was most thorough and carefully done. We are pleased with HAM Landscapings services.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Absolute scam company. They cash your $300 for plowing and then disappear into the wind. They never plow per their contract and dont respond to phone calls or e-mails. They are thieves.

Based on our experience we would strongly advise against using H.A.M. for landscaping of any kind due to their terrible customer service and very poor quality of work! In 2015 we hired them to complete a full re-landscaping of our backyard; which included the removal of a large number of trees, laying sod, planting of 8 trees and installation of exterior lighting throughout the backyard. From very early on in the project we began to have problems with Herrick (owner) over items wed clearly discussed as being part of the original estimate. These were incredibly minor things that had been verbally agreed to and any reasonable person would expect to be included in a project of this type (i.e. removing of an old clothesline from the area where the new sod was being laid). While these were annoying issues to deal with they were nothing compared to the poor quality of work that was done. For over a year we made repeated requests to Herrick to have them return and address these issues and in nearly every case Herrick would reply by email that these things would be taken care of as part of their guarantee. There were a few that did get corrected but most were not; for example the wiring for the lighting we had installed throughout the yard was never buried, but left laying on top of the ground causing my kids to often trip and fall. This would also pull the wiring apart from the lights and leave the ends exposed. Despite repeatedly expressing our concerns with the safety and asking for this to be addressed H.A.M. never returned to bury the wire properly. Additionally after approximately 18 months our sod began to die despite careful maintenance. While we couldnt prove what caused it, a company that took soil samples suspected it was due to the top soil not being properly prepared before the sod was laid. We also had one of the trees planted die and when we had a certified arborist inspect the tree they found that not only that tree, but many of the trees installed by H.A.M. had been improperly planted (i.e. wrong depth and/or wire cage/burlap not removed). When we contacted Herrick and provided this information he not only refused to assist in anyway with these problems, but threatened to bill us for the times over the last two years where they had come out to fix problems with the original work. Ultimately with a different landscaping company and arborist we replanted the grass, replaced the dead tree and had many of the other trees dug up and replanted properly. Needless to say it has been a nightmare working with H.A.M. and Herrick specifically. If youre considering using them for anything we would strongly recommend getting EVERY detail in writing, watch the work closely and good luck! Shaker Heights Resident
