Theres a few companies with names similar to Great Lakes Landscaping Inc. in the metro Detroit area and unfortunately people get confused. This causes unwarranted google reviews. They are a full service COMMERCIAL!! landscape construction maintenance service company .

No words can describe how happy I am with Kevin and Chris! They did such an amazing job removing our big ugly cedars and shaping our other trees to make our property beautiful again! This is the 2nd year we have asked for their services and without fail, they delivered exceptional service with top notch customer service! We will definitely call Kevin for future projects!

Laura and her team did a wonderful job redoing our backyard! Laura made us a 3D design of how our new space would look after coming out and talking with us about what we were looking for. Which is not something every landscape company offers! You can tell she puts a lot of hard work into her designs! The team came out and went right to work. They finished in the time line given and even worked with us when we wanted to move a few things around. They were very professional and hardworking. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a new start in their yard! They did such a great job we have Laura and her team coming back to do our front yard now too. Cant wait to see it all complete!! I hired Great Lakes to add dirt in my backyard (18 yards) and to construct a paver patio next to my deck. What a project!! Laura did a great job explaining what was needed and how it would be done. Paul (the foreman) and his crew were great. They were very kind, hard-working and very professional and willing to help if I had any issues. I would give them 5 stars and highly recommend them for landscaping projects.

Disappointing. Initial budget quote $1,500; formal quote $5,000, ended up over $7,000; Added 60 yards of topsoil & sod, and some 2 stone work. Apparently soil was not compacted in some areas; (even though it was brought up when they were half done) it was mushy for a month, now lumpy. Many gaps in the sod; weeds have filled the gaps. Laura promised they would return to fix a month ago; not fixed and no returned calls . . . The crew worked very hard, but I think they were under the gun to get the (big) job done in one day.

GLL installed a patio at our summer home on Harsens Island a few weeks ago. Outstanding! We appreciated the process from the beginning with Laura s design, responsiveness to questions and project updates, timeliness of project completion and a hardworking project crew. Will continue to recommend GLL to anyone interested in a 5 star company!

I can not say enough good things about this company! They are exceptional! From the design services (Laura) to the installation. I did not want to write this review right away, because I wanted to see how the plantings and design would turn out over time. Well, its been approximately two years and everything they have planted is thriving and looks better than I expected. We had shopped around for a landscaping company and this company by far was the most reasonable and responsive. I was a little nervous, because they always say, you get what you paid for, but not here. Great prices and great service! Thank you!

I sent in a request for an estimate and someone emailed me right away. It being Friday they said someone would be out the following week for the estimate. Towards the close of the next week I emailed for an update on the estimate just to be ignored. I sent another email a week after that and still no response. I get it if you re too busy to do the work but please don t lie to me and waste my time. Really unprofessional.

From the next day response from my phone call inquiry, to the appointment with Laura, the landscape architect; the service, friendliness, and professional work of this company deserves high marks! Emailed the company to request service, heard back from the office in a timely fashion, they answered my questions and I asked to be scheduled. They told me someone would contact me to schedule a time. After a few days with no call I followed up with the office and was told I would hear from someone the following week. Three weeks later I still have not heard back from them. Went with another local company in the meantime.

I was looking to get a new paver brick patio with a pergola and firepit area. After receiving bids from 3 companies, I chose Great Lakes Landscaping because Mike, the designer and consultant, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very enthusiastic. He designed a beautiful patio that I couldnt be more pleased with. He was very easy to work with through the entire process. Jeff, the foreman, and his team were great and efficient. They had the whole project done in one week and were very professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend this company for any landscaping projects.

We had Mike Simonsen and Great Lakes come out 2 years ago to dismantle a backyard deck and install a stone patio with landscaping. We were so pleased that we had them out again to freshen up the landscaping in the front of our house. The end result was as expected and we couldn t be happier about the way it turned out. From design to installation, Mike and the Great Lakes crew are professional and so easy to work with! Highly recommended by a returning client!

Great Lakes Landscape After 3 quotes and one that never answered. We were very lucky to find Great Lakes landscaping to do our extensive Two tear boulder wall on a hill. Great Lakes Landscaping from Sales (Mike), Construction (Jeff and team) and the owners were very professional. We could not be happier with their work!

I cant say enough good things about Great Lakes Landscaping. Mike, Paul and crew designed and built a beautiful Koi pond that we enjoy every day. here attention to details was excellent. This summer he had more landscaping added around the Koi pond and everything was done beautifully and professionally. They always cleaned up the area and made sure that everything was to my satisfaction.

When we moved into our house it was in serious need of new landscaping as the previous owners let it go pretty badly. We heard about this company and reached out and they turned what would ve been a daunting task into a total breeze. We let Mike Simonsen take the reins on the design to do what he thought would look best and he absolutely knocked it out of the park. We thought there was no way it could look as good in real life as it did on screen but when Jeff and his team started working we were blown away. There s not a harder working crew out there. We easily have the best looking house on our street now and I think just about everyone on the block has come by to comment on it at some point. Can t recommend them enough.

We recently undertook a massive four tier wall residential renovation of our back yard on a very steep hill. The access to the actual building site was amazingly limited and presented its own unique technical challenges on top of the topography of the hill. After consulting with numerous companies in Michigan s Thumb area, we went with Great Lakes Landscaping. Their bidding was very competitive and their choice of materials afforded us exactly what we wanted. Mike, their designer, worked with us tirelessly to help determine what would be the best for the design and our needs. Jeff and his crew brought a level of expertise, skill and professionalism to the job from sunrise till evening all fall long. The skill and talent that I saw daily was unreal. Even our dogs loved Jeff and the entire crew. Work in challenging spaces and the ability to overcome unexpected hurdles to produce a beautiful work of art with precise attention to meticulous details is why I would highly recommend Great Lakes Landscaping to everyone. If anyone is imagining an amazing project for a very competitive bid, give Great Lakes Landscaping a call. We look forward to working with Mike and Jeff again in the spring on more projects. Would not give these people your money or business. Have seen the shotty job they do with the snow side of the business. Have dealt with snow removal companies for years and they are the worst. They will dump salt on your parking daily even on dry days. They seem to think only about the money. The customer service is awful as well. The girls in the office treat you horribly if there is an issue. Stay clear or you will eventually, unfortunately find this out.

At first these guys were great. We hired them to do grass, sprinklers, and a patio. There was an issue with a plant and an area of the grass that has been ongoing for the last year. The plant is on the next truck going to our sub and the grass they keep blaming the sprinkler company that they contracted out. Weve been told the same thing for the last year about how theyll replace the plant when the truck comes out next. They told us everything we wanted to hear when we hired them, but now they are not returning our calls and not standing by their warranty that they boasted about a year ago. This would have been a 5 star review if they would just replace the plant and fix the sod issue. Too bad.

Had Mike design us and create a patio and walkway on Harsens Island. What a phenomenal job! Any minor issues were handled immediately and to complete satisfaction. Would definitely recommend, especially for work on the Island.

If you want a tree removed call this company!! They are great, prices were reasonable, they cleaned up afterwards and were so friendly. I would use them again.

How do you call a business and their hours of business start at 8 am and it says, we are closed, hours of operation are from 8 am to 5 pm . Its nine am!!!?? I originally ordered my load to arrive at Thursday afternoon their excuse was the truck was too big for the overhead lines and the drain in the driveway was going to be possibly in the way. So instead of calling my customer or anything they just left. I could have been there within minutes to put down a tarp but thats besides the point . Now we are here to Saturday and I still dont have my dirt. They could have made an effort to make up for it and deliver it Friday maybe? No. We have not even heard from them since they said , we may be able to Friday afternoon. I could tell then it was a lie. So they didnt even call to say sorry or anything, or that they wont be able to make it, or to even set something up possibly for Monday. If you are thinking of ordering from this company and relying on them do not! You will get your whole plans screwed and youll be wondering if your even going to get it possibly days later. There are plenty better companies out there dont go here. They were not even my first choice for this job it was my customers choice and we all see how that worked out.

Our backyard is now an extension of our home. Mike designed a beautiful retreat for us. It was a bit rough due to weather and therefore didnt get done until late fall but a few football games were watched out there before the weather turned. We are very excited for spring and look forward to spending many days/nights out there. Mike and all the guys were a pleasure to work with. Jeff is truly an artist and did all of the beautiful stone work. He and his crew were a delight to work with. Would totally call these people for any other needed artistic work. Thank you all!!

This was a great company to work with. Im so glad I found them. Mike designed a beautiful new patio for us. We are so excited about our backyard now. We did the project in the fall so it would be ready to use as soon as it warmed up. Mike designed a gas fire pit for our patio which Ive always wanted. It is awesome and we cant wait o use it. Jeff and his crew did a beautiful job with the stonework. He really wanted it to be perfect. We ran into a few hiccups but thats not unusual with big projects. They were very quick to resolve and fix any problems that came up. Mike is genuinely concerned about pleasing his clients. I would use them again in a heart beat.

Mike was awesome to work with! We had a vision of what we wanted, he listened and appropriately added his input based on his experience and knowledge, as well as the budget we had provided. Follow up was amazing to any questions, concerns, or alterations. Jeff and his team that did the entire job were amazing too! Extremely polite and considerate of our needs. He would always keep us in the loop on progress and what the plan was moving forward. Now that our main project is done, I look forward to working with the entire Great Lakes Landscaping team again on future improvements!

Great Lakes did a great job on our landscaping. The crew was extremely professional and very clean, in fact they maintained the worksite every night. Our design came out awesome and when they said they will have everything completed within a week it was done in 5 days! We are extremely impressed and so happy with our decision to use them!

Theyre always fighting, swearing and leaving their garbage on the ground hidden by where they park. They cut in rain which rips the grass. I know it is a hard job but does does no one take pride anymore...?

They dont do residential so why does it say they do? The lady answering phone is rude.

Just plain bad customer service. Called to get a quote and lady answering the phone was extremely rude and curt. Mind you, I AM CALLING TO GET A QUOTE, YOU ARE BEING COMPARED TO OTHER COMPANIES. The attitude persisted as she rushed me through the quote process. I am not going to stick around to see what their services are like because there are just too many landscaping businesses out there to have to deal with bad customer service.

Very rude and will not be calling again

After being paid in full, I discovered that there were large portions of the tree left behind. After multiple phone calls and a trip up to the office, I still cant get someone to call me back. We are going on 10 weeks now and counting since they took my money. Dont trust these people.

Big chunks were left unmowed. Patio wasnt blown off and my dogs cable I put her on to let her in the yard came up missing. Im assuming their lazy worker mowed over it and instead of replacing if, just took it with them.

Terrible customer service, very hard to get somebody on the phone or to respond to email to confirm an appointment, after confirmation they did not show up on the agreed date. When I managed to get a hold of somebody they were rude as well as when they finally came for service they were short tempered even though they did not show on the agreed time. I understand that people are busy but we are paying for this service, I would expect a little more effort in customer service. Would not recommend this company to others.
