Hired ALM as friends of mine had success with them. Their service was expensive, I was hesitant but wanted to see my lawn look great. Used their service since May of 2024 their initial applications didn’t show much improvement which I understood it takes time. My schedule called for a service in August which they came after I had overseeded my lawn. The new grass was growing well. My next application was supposed to be done in November to which they never showed up to service my lawn. I called December 10th asking why my lawn hadn’t been serviced. The reply I received was not what I expected from a professional company with the reputation they have. I was told they were busy and trying to catch up from the past week, I responded the past week doesn’t account for not receiving service in November which was a crucial time for my newly overseeded lawn. The tech never gave me a reason why they didn’t come for service. I also stated that his last application was very uneven to where it appeared the edge guard was left on during his entire lawn service. He started talking about fertilizer burn which wasn’t the case I didn’t have fertilizer burn I had NO FERTALIZER. He then stated he could apply some seed to the areas that were struggling. It was then I knew I no longer wanted to do business with ALM. Grass seed is not going to do well at all being applied in December it would have been a complete waste unless he was to put down some rye grass that maybe would have germinated however, I have a fescue lawn. I wish companies would do what they are supposed to, give you the product and service promised that you pay your hard earned money for and not try to bait you into being happy again with some false promise of fixing their mistake with another one. My lawn is important to me, and clearly not them. Pictures speak words here are some of my lawn and their terrible fertilizer application patterns.
Alm is simply the best. Great lawn service and recommendations, we follow what they tell us and my lawn is the greenest and thickest on the block. Their techs always take time to explain what they are treating and the results have been exactly what you would hope for. Unfortunately I just cancelled my account with ALM due to lack of quality work. When I moved into my new home this past summer, ALM assured me they could remedy my lawn issues. My lawn has gone from bad to worse after months of spending hundreds of dollars on this service. I followed mowing, watering, and all other technician instructions to no avail. I now have a patchy, brown mess of a yard. They are quick to bill you though, that’s a strength they have. I’ll be looking for another lawn service in Chesapeake immediately.
We had a guy name jason working on our lawn in lake Christopher , and I have never witnessed such unprofessional nightmare in my entire life. The weed smell from the work truck was too potent. paraphernalia in front my house on the sidewalk . That explains why my lawn looks terrible. And how come my neighbors get free seed from him. But he charges me 200 dollars on the side stating that ALM will charge me twice the amount if I buy it from them online or over the phone. FIGURED THAT WAS A LIE , once my neighbors informed me of the free seed giving away all the time.
I love ALM! I decided to go with ALM to transform my grass from the dormant winter state to a lush, green tall fescue all year round. Though patience is required, the experience has been fantastic. They possess extensive knowledge about the process and are helpful in educating you on how to maintain your lawn. Rick informs me in advance of his visits, providing updates on what will take place, and efficiently completes the job. I've been very pleased with the process and results so far, and I'm excited to see how it blossoms during the spring and summer months. It's a worthwhile investment, and I highly recommend it!
To be fair, my little lawn has been the envy of the neighborhood since I started using ALM. I would constantly be complimented and asked how I get my lawn to look so nice. I would happily tell them; “it’s all ALM and proper irrigation” and point to the little sign they keep up. Their tech has been excellent and their prices very fair. For these reason, a 1 star review would not be justified. This year, however, things went sideways. I noticed browning in small portions of the grass and gave them a call. I knew it was fungus and asked to start my anti-fungal treatments early. I was told that a request would be put in and that someone would be out asap. That didn’t happen until almost a month later. By that time, the fungus (rust), spread throughout the entire yard causing a substantial decrease in the lawns appearance. The lawn didn’t have time to recover from the fungus and is now being subjected to heat stress. So, I most likely will be stuck with this mediocre lawn until reseeding in the fall. Not exactly happy with this since I pay for their masters program.
ALM saved my lawn! Early last summer, my neighbor and I had discovered a sand spur rapidly spreading over our yards. It had tiny brown triangles that you could barely see until they were embedded in your shoes or worse, feet. My two year old and my neighbor’s dog experienced the worst of it. We looked into some available lawn treatment companies. Google only pulled up the large, national companies. They deal with lawns from regions all around the country, they aren’t locally based, experts that actually know the local soil. Fortunately, my neighbor’s dad informed him of a just that. We both contacted Agronomic Lawn Management. They have a great year-around program. When you sign up, they place you right into their continuing program. Well, I had spurs to one side of the driveway; I dug up most of the lawn to the other side of the driveway grinding out tree roots and a stump from a fallen tree; and the backyard was covered in various weeds. My lawn was a mess. Our zip code rep for ALM, Daniel, reached out via text to inform me he’d be by later that week to inspect my lawn and spot treat the worst of the spurred areas. Then the following week, he’d come back to perform the month’s planned treatment. After a few months, my family was back to walking barefoot in the lawn. The spurs were gone. Then ALM informed me that it was the time of year to buy the slit seeding option, if we wanted it. I was caught off-guard as I thought that was included in the year-around program I already purchased. So that bit was a little upsetting. I think that is my only complaint I have about everything they’ve done for me. I wish that was made clearer in the beginning. But I knew I needed the slit seeding. Another unforeseen cost of repairing my lawn I hadn’t planned on in the beginning was buying some sprinklers. ALM did inform me that the results of the seeding rely completely on watering the lawn effectively. So I bought some tandem sprinklers with timers that I only had to move once a day for 2 months. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I was thinking it’d be. Anyways, back to ALM’s service. When that grass started coming in, and it did very shortly after the seeding, It was beautiful. Nice, bright green, soft underfoot, and complete coverage all across my property. The soil I packed into the stump hole and root ruts disappeared under fresh grass. Same for the low points around the lawn I had packed with soil. The spurs were completely gone. My backyard has no weeds, just healthy grass. They did it. It took ALM less than a year to fix my lawn. I am completely satisfied. Overall, the cost of the program was very affordable. Both my neighbor’s lawn and mine were repaired better than we hoped for. ALM’s customer service was friendly and very easy to work with. Their website is user friendly. Our zip code rep, Daniel, was great. He kept me informed of every upcoming service for my property and provided a report following every treatment providing what had been done, his personal observations of how the lawn was faring, and his recommendations on watering more or less, adjusting the height to be mowing properly during whichever phase of growth the lawn was in, etc. It was a very straight forward and professional. Good job ALM! You deserve all of the local lawn care business.
I switched to ALM about 3 years ago. The staff and the service that they provide are top notch. I am relieved to use a service that is not only trustworthy, but certified by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Derrick is the technician that takes care of my lawn and I really appreciate everything that he does toward helping to make my yard beautiful and weed free. I would (and have) highly recommend ALM to those that would like their lawn to look healthy, great looking and the envy of the neighborhood.

I am leaving a review here to bring to your attention a concerning incident involving one of your drivers this morning, June 25, 2024, at 9:12 am, in the Cypress Creek neighborhood of Smithfield, VA. The speed limit in our neighborhood is 25 mph; however, your driver was traveling at a significantly higher speed, posing a danger to residents. This reckless driving behavior is unacceptable and very concerning for our community. I urge you to address this issue promptly to ensure the safety of everyone in our neighborhood. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
My ALM tech is the BEST! Even with the threat of rain and then while raining, he is out applying a much needed fungicide treatment to mine and my neighbors yard. He takes great pride in what he does and always has time for his customers.

I called and thought I was going to go with them. Once I said I was ready, I was immediately upselled. The guy was very rude after I questioned him. I would never go with this company after his response.
Started this service last year because I had surgery. So far, they have been pretty good. I would recommend this company to anyone. I am a lawn guy and would always do it myself. I will keep them on board so I can do other things.
My yard looks amazing and I get tons of compliments from my neighbors. A special shout out to Thomas who remembers that I have a dog/doggy door and always lets me know when he s coming (so I can ensure the dog isn t out) and asks if there are any other concerns he can address. I have been using ALM for just over a year and my lawn is the best it s ever been. Customer service is top notch. Employees both in person and in the office take the time to discuss services and go the extra mile to get it right.
I have had success with other companies in the past. I switched to ALM because my other provider hiked prices more than I was willing to go. In the end, I ended up paying about the same price for a lawn that never grew - and that was without mosquito control, which I requested. 3 months ago, I requested a service call from a technician to come out and speak to me about the lack of success in grass growing. I never got a call. I even got a confirmation email from ALM saying that they would have someone call me, and I was going to talk to them about whatever happened to the mosquito control as well. No one ever called. Next thing I know I got an email saying your technician notified the office of your cancellation of services. Use someone else
I cannot say enough positive things about the quality and expertise of ALM and their technicians! I have utilized their service for years, and they have never let me down. They keep my grass green and the weeds away, and their personable staff always provide great feedback about the status of my lawn after their service. I find their prices to be reasonable and less expensive than doing it myself; I d definitely recommend ALM!

First off, I used to be in the landscape business so I know how to grow grass, but I just don t have the time anymore. Paul and Brian were amazing. Paul has stopped by twice since he seeded (without me asking) to check on my newly seeded lawn. He s proactively texted me to keep me in the loop on the plan and progress for my home s lawn. It s safe to say that he cares. We had the worst lawn in the neighborhood and now we might have the best. Highly recommend ALM, especially if you re near me in the Sandbridge area of VB and Paul s your guy!

No call back or email. I called several times and was told Sales department would contact me via email. Never did. Two weeks later their next service truck shows up at my house unexpectedly, no notice. Wanted to do estimate. I had already called another lawn service company who came out and serviced the lawn twice. I had read good reviews about ALM, but their customer service needs work.

Prior to her help, the foliage on the shrubs always seemed to be infested with mites and bugs, leaving them less than healthy looking. After a year of treatment, my shrubs have never looked so good!!! The foliage is so bright and shiny, as well as being really thick. Thank you Kim and ALM!!!
I cancelled my service. They have not placed their proud business sign on a stick in my yard for the last two visits but all of my other neighbors with PGA golf tour green grass have gotten one. I guess they are embarrassed to represent my yard now after being a customer for over two years straight and it feels like yard discrimination.

The pesticide used for treatment uses bifenthrin, a chemical that is highly toxic to bees! The employees treating dont care about property lines and allow the spray to directly get on other peoples plants, killing a neighborhood worth of pollinators. And if you live near a lake or a river, that run off is likely killing the aquatic life as well as it is toxic to marine life!
I just hired them this year. They did an assessment of my lawn,including soil testing. I have the same person doing my lawn each time. My lawn look the best it had looked in years. They email and text me with their evaluation after every treatment. The office staff are prompt to answer phone calls and settle all concerns with one phone call.
Recommended by several lawn services , I switched to Alm and glad I did . Big difference right away . Great service at excellent price.
We hired ALM to improve front yard with fertilization and weed control and completely reseed back yard. The reseeding process was over $600 and was an absolute disaster every step of the process. Round up: they over sprayed round up to kill the existing grass 2 times Seeding: they don t aerate- or even/improve the soil - but move as quickly as possible to thatch and then seed We watered 2x a day for 10 days - 50 minutes at a time and then 1x a day for a week after. We are 6 1/2 weeks out from seeding and there are many more weeds than grass and bare patches of dirt with no grass growing in majority of yard. After $600 the yard looks so much worse than what it did originally. ALM came out and said we should expect weeds and we must not have watered enough! Just canceled the contract with them.
First time having a lawn service. Not a fan. ALM technician told me they only treat certain weeds and that others I have to do myself or pay extra for an application. Whatever they used didnt work very well. Killed about a third of the same type of weed. Other weeds just grew. Called for an extra spray twice. The first time I called is when the ALM technician told me they only treat for certain weeds. I had the fairway 7. They havent applied the last 2 treatments yet and only November and December remain for the year. Forgot? Frankly its not worth the trouble to call them for this type of service.

ALM is wonderful, they SAVED my lawn! Nick and Brad have both been very patient answering any and all questions. They are are very knowledgeable about the services provided and the how/why everything works as it does. ALM clearly invests in educating their staff, which is noticed and very appreciated. Customer service is responsive and helpful. We receive yearly regular treatment services and had to start out with some add-ons to fix the condition of the soil. I couldnt be happier with the results. Before picture below is from before seeding, shortly after we contracted with them (OCt 2020), and after was earlier this week (APril 2021). I would not hesitate to HIGHLY recommend ALM to anyone.
This is who you want to seed and treat your yard. Walking through my neighborhood I noticed some yards looked fantastic compared to others, including yards that used other services. In every case it was ALM. Now, 2 years later, my neighbors on both sides are using ALM.

My lawn looks thick, green and full with no weeds or patches. People in my neighborhood driving by stop and ask me how I get my lawn to look so good. I tell them ALM and point to the small placard in my yard. My yard is the envy of the neighborhood and more and more of my neighbors are hiring ALM.
We have used ALM since for the past ten years. Derrick is the tech who takes care of us. I don t know if something changed in the product they use but our lawn has never looked better. Maybe Derrick did something different but it looks great. We are very happy with the company.

Year round lawn care (fertilization).
I just want to give a quick review on ALM. No I m not a customer BUT I just started my lawn business this season on the side & a handful of my clients use ALM for seeding etc. ALM will actually make your lawn green, thick and healthier. I ve seen trugreen & dreamlawns work and their lawns is nowhere near comparable to ALM. Thanks for keeping me busy ALM!

A friend recommended ALM to me, and I couldnt be more pleased. The results have been spectacular. Last falls slit seeding has totally transformed my lawn...it went from good to outstanding. Its cost effective, as instead of selecting and applying fertilizer, weed control, etc, ALM takes care of it all. Time plus materials for me were not that much less than utilizing ALM. My technician is Ray, and hes outstanding.
They take the hassle of seeding, treating for weeds and diseases away. All I have to worry about is mowing and enjoying a beautiful green lawn. Any questions or concerns I ve brought to their attention were handled promptly and professionally. ALM is a great company employing top notch professionals in turf grass management.

Awesome work on my lawn. Had weeds and bare shots. After the first year of treatment my lawn is thick and lush. My kids and the neighborhood kids all run around in our lawn with shoes off because they love it. ALM is not afraid to teach us either. I ask a lot of questions and they never have said anything is proprietary or secret. They answer everything and give handouts as to what we should do and what they are doing. Live this company.
ALM is the best choice for establishing a new or rejuvenating an old, tired lawn. I tried several other services but only the ALM approach has been effective in fixing some of my long standing problems. They are more pricey than some of the others and , of course, don t mow but you truly get what you pay for in this regard. Highly recommended.
ALM is by far the best lawn management organization in the Tidewater area. We have had four other lawn companies attempt and fail to do what ALM does with precise, consistent and unfailing efficiency. Their employees are thoroughly knowledgeable , courteous and willing to answer any and all questions regarding lawn maintenance. I called to have an estimate performed on my yard. The technician came out, left the estimate and i have been trying to get someone to call me for 2 weeks to ask a question and have the lawn service started. No one returns calls even when they tell you that a supervisor is going to call. I ve called 5 times and it is extremely frustrating to try and give your money to a company that shows that they could care less about your business. So we are going with someone else. Great customer service is everything to me and if I m not being given that, I will take my business elsewhere.
Have used ALM for many years , they are professional and want you to be pleased with the services they provide . They encourage you to call with any questions or concerns and are eager to address whatever you need. Since using them , my yard looks great. Several of my neighbors have started using them and they are pleased as well.

Richard the Technician was very knowledgeable, quick to apply and very courteous.
So many hidden fees and the cost is not worth it. So they force you to get a soil test just so they can charge you more add-ons. I was paying top dollar to have this team come out for the Masters Plan and there were weeds they could not get rid of even after months of treatment. I was willing to go through two whole seasons with them to give them a chance until the phone call. My soil test (three months after it was done) came back and needed something added to my lawn, of course for an additional fee. Every time I turned around they were hitting my credit card for additional services . No value to hiring them, they were not really that good so go with someone cheaper, you will get the same.
I saw a difference in my lawn after the first visit! I definitely recommend them.
My neighbor just signed up for the lawn maintenance service. Today was the first day the technician came by. He used the lawn fertilizing machine which is a motorized machine you stand on that spreads fertilizer. He felt that it was okay to drive right over my lawn and driveway which left crushed fertilizer marks and has already stained the driveway. He at no point asked if it was okay to use my property. I work hard to maintain my lawn as well as maintain a clean driveway and to have someone disrespect my property is not okay.
Asked if they serviced the north side. No response. Arrogant?
March 19, 2020 spoke with ALM. On April 6, 2020 ALM pulled a soil sample to find out what our lawn needed. ALM recommended that we get the PGA Program. That included slit seeding and applications. September 15, 2020 we started the services. We did what ALM told us to do to make sure we got a beautiful lawn. At first our lawn was beautiful! We watered and maintain the lawn. Months later we started seeing weeds. We contacted ALM and they suggested that we get applications to kill the weeds; however, more weeds came. One month later our lawn started declining; weeks and the grass ALM planted started turning brown. We contacted ALM and they stated that we needed to get another slit seeding and more application. We were confused, We ask the Representative why? I ask could someone come out and take a look at the lawn, she stated that we needed to get another slit seeding and applications. At the beginning, we were told that the slit seeding and applications was what we need to get a good lawn. After reading other reviews, I notice that many customers have continued services with ALM in order to keep a beautiful lawn; however, we were not told this by ALM. At first we had considered burning our entire yard and starting over but, we were told my ALM that we need the PGA Program and our lawn would be good; they NEVER told us that we had to continue services. My husband called ALM and ask if someone could come out and look at lawn and we told by the representative that they were short staffed and had no one available to come out...PERIOD. We now have the worst lawn! Disappointed
8/25/21 It s very unfortunate that it has come to this - having to post a bad review. We have pre-paid for service. But they don t seem to be responsive. Each week they say they will be out for our service, but each week it doesn t happen. 9/1/21. Another week has gone by and still no service. The owner s response below was they don t have anyone by my name because it s in my wife s name same last name. Called the number he said and they acknowledged that the service has NOT been performed. So extremely disappointed that the owner tried to minimize my comments, rather than taking the little time to correct the situation.
Based on previous owner responses to negative reviews, this was entirely predictable. It s ALWAYS the customers fault and ALM accepts ZERO responsibility for poor results. Keep the excuses coming - this helps paint a clear picture of your business philosophy.
This is the 2nd year that ALM has seeded my yardthe last time. Last year they seeded my yard and applied fertilizer and fertilized my pool that just had new liner installed and filled a few days before. My pool had white fertilizer in it and my water had over 6000ppm of phosphates. Called and asked for a manager and a few days later get to talk to one and was told they dont have phosphate in the fertilizer, even though the bill says it does. Spend over 300 to treat water. Give them benefit of doubt. Today the seeded yard and fertilized and same thing fertilizer in pool and was too lazy to close gate and leave 2 bags of debrie. Spent over 2 hours looking for my Newfoundland and Husky.Got a call that the dogs almost got hit by car. Call the office and no manager but they will send mag for him to call. Friday afternoon no call. I had 3 referrals and they all quit because of poor service. I am done with this company, they charge good money for lazy service. Stay away they want money but will not own up to anything that they do.

I use ALM because I am confident that they are using the right materials at the right time. They did a soil test when I signed up and amended the soil appropriately for maximum benefit. Called ALM because I was concerned about my favorite magnolia tree -saw evidence of insect damage. Richard treated the tree and all of our other trees and shrubs, with excellent results. Everything looks healthy and with the periodic fertilization from ALM, everything is green and growing! ALM provides great value for the fee. Richard is very knowledgeable, gives great advice, does research when required, is courteous and friendly.

We moved into our home 2 years ago; our yard had been ignored for years and was only weeds. I approached the ALM tech who was working a yard in our neighborhood and asked for recommendations on how to move forward. He took the time to walk through the yard and recommended a detailed plan. We decided after reviewing them to give it a go and it was a great decision. Two years later we have an absolutely beautiful lawn that has gotten thicker each year. The company has worked very hard to provide recommendations on treatments and in fact at one point we were having trouble getting an area of the lawn to thicken up; the owner himself came out and came up with a game plan that ended up fixing the area. The techs are always professional, always let us know when they are coming, and do a great job. ALM has been worth every penny!

I m very satisfied with the results after two years of ALM caring for my lawn. Tommy always texts a day ahead to let me know he s coming. If the yard is too wet, we work out a different time. He is always available to answer questions and provide advice. My yard is a great-looking sea of lush green grass! Much of the neighborhood now uses ALM and others are considering it due to the visible results on our block. You might be able to do the same yourself for similar $$, but now all that time is back to you. Definitely recommend.

Best service Ive used. Started late summer with the understanding it will take a few years to develop, but I had a relatively beautiful yard mid fall! Cant wait to see how it looks next year!! The other two yard companies I tried did not do well with the weeds and the seeding resulted in no new and/or healthy grass. Very knowledgeable and they have no issues taking the time to explain everything in detail. Also I made a simple but unnecessary (for them) request and they continue to honor it without hesitation. The only con I can think of is we had bad mosquito and fleas (never had them before) in the yard in 2020. The control product for those didnt seem to help at all. I have and will continue to recommend ALM! Lol hopefully spring time they can use my yard as a before and after!
