This is the second time we have worked with Snows Landscaping. Our current project was total replacement of a small front yard. The previous yard was a rockscape with aging plants/shrubs and rocks. All were removed and almost entirely replaced with healthier, non-invasive, native choices. Trevor, our project manager, worked with me while creating the design, choosing appropriate plantings, and was always amenable to my suggestions while providing guidance for the overall scope of the project. His starting crew, Jael & Marvin, and finishing crew, Kenny & Brian, were efficient, prompt, and left the area clean each day. I compared companies prior to choosing Snows and, in both projects, found Snows to be a good value. If our current project is as successful and our past, I can highly recommend you consider Snows for your landscaping needs.

Beautiful garden center with all your Landscape needs!!

Snows completley transformed our home! We needed landscaping all around our new construction home and Kate and her crew were wonderful to work with. They incorporated rocks found on our property into the landscaping just the way I wanted it. They were also able to work around plants that I had bought with me and blend the old and the new. The plants they added softened the look of the brick house and made it look much more inviting. Will be calling them again in the spring to add more beds!

I have worked with Snows for more than 25 years on landscape projects. They are always timely, offer great service and complete jobs as promised. I know I can count on any follow-up needed, and its easy to communicate with them by email or website.

Proof that money does grow on trees. Have you seen their prices? No military discount either, but they do exploit military service on their sign to get more business (ref Memorial Day slogan). However, it s a nicely organized nursery with a good selection.

I can not wait to go there and see what they have.

On Feb. 24th my wife and I purchased and paid in full for two pallets of stone at Snows garden center. The clerk named Mason wrapped a red tape on both pallets with our name on both. We were told they would hold for us to pickup the following week. I arrived the following Wednesday 2/28 with truck and trailer to pickup only to find one pallet with no red tag or name, other pallet was missing. Spoke with a Kathryn Nokes who offered now explanation. After 20 min. with no explanation, no apology, and no offer to make this write I had to ask for a refund on the missing pallet and left with the only one there. The customer service at this establishment is non existent. I will never go back to this establishment again. I suggest if you purchase something there you better take it with you, because if you go back to pick up it will not be there.

Noah and his team did an amazing job. They responded to all my concerns with efficiency and professionalism. The job was completed on time and with superb results.

Weve dealt with a number of contracted projects. Often the contractors promise lots upfront and then leave you hanging. Showing up to start but then leaving to do other jobs. Snows isnt one of those. They came when they said-- leaving aside weather delays. They did what they promised and then some. The resulting project more than meets what we wanted and the job was professionally done with attention to detail. All of it accompanied with courtesy and care. Cant ask for more than that. What remains is to see what follow up might require down the road. Too early for that judgment, but the experience so far is full of promises meant and kept.

Clean. Great customer service in the outdoor part. They guys that work out in the field were very polite. 2 guys in particular stood out: Kenny & Kevin. Always go out of there way to speak & always seems to make sure they have a smile & positive attitude when speaking to me & my children. People inside actual center were short on responses, seemed a bit irritated bcuz I came into store , nobody spoke when I entered establishment & seem to be more interested with their cell phones then customers needs. ** If not for the guys in the outside part, this would ve been a different score. Way to go guys keep up the amazing job & showing your customers deserve the best service.

The Snow s Garden Center crew recently delivered a load of mulch to our home. Great communication on delivery day. Gary, our delivery driver, took the time to say hello and make sure to place the load where we wanted it. Friends and family chipped in to make light work of the 5 cu yards (plus a little extra). We were very happy with the product, customer service, and overall experience. Thanks for making our home look amazing this spring.

We could not be happier with the landscaping and stone wall project in our front yard that Snow s completed this month. Kate came up with a beautiful design and the crews did a first-class job on the installation. This is the third project that Snow s has done in different parts of our yard over the last eight years and all turned out great.

Guys helped me select my new tree over the phone then guided me by phone where to go to load my truck. The two team members then loaded my truck and wrapped it up to protect the leaves from damage on the 35 mile trip home.

Snows installed new plantings and landscaped the existing bed in a large area between our house and the neighbors. Once grown, the plantings will create a natural privacy fence between the two yards. Zach Pittinger, their landscape designer, really listened to our needs and worked with us patiently through all of our requested changes. He is very knowledgeable about plants that work in the area, but also just a very pleasant and fun collaborator on a project. Kenny, their landscape crew chief, and the rest of the crew(s) worked diligently and expertly prepared our planting area and installed the plants. Everyone on the crew was a pleasure to be around and very respectful. Tammy Judge in the office was also very helpful and professional with any questions about billing or scheduling. While Snows prices are not the cheapest in town, you get what you pay for, and we feel confident that we received good value for the money paid. We would use them again for other landscaping projects.

Snows did a major hardscaping project for us. They built a winding path up our very steep hillside and installed a patio at the top to catch sunsets. They were great to work with every step of the way. Our construction crew was phenomenal! Jose and Alfredo did the building, and we were so impressed by their skill and careful work. We enjoyed working with everyone involved and appreciated the team s ability to work together and with us to complete the project on time, on budget, and without any surprises. The finished project is beautiful - the natural stone steps winding up the hill look great and make it so much easier to get up this hill. Near the top of the path they installed a boulder retaining wall that is functional and interesting to look at. The patio is built into the hilltop exactly as we imagined. They even placed some boulders behind the patio to give it a unique character. This project was technically challenging and we appreciate how well they planned and managed that. We can t wait for the seed to grow in on the slope and parts of the pathway. We couldn t be happier and we certainly recommend Snows!

Ive bought many items from Snows in the two years since I bought a house nearby. No ace gardener by any stretch, Ive adopted and adapted to the furrows (of herbs and flowers) and foreboding (a kiwi tree..in Virginia?! See below--that progress occurred in two weeks!) that accompany each enjoyable purchase. This women-owned, family-staffed store trains and treats its workers well, and they treat you well in return. Some people complain that the prices are higher than elsewhere, but the expertise from and engagement with well-spoken staff are priceless--for everyone from beginner to botanist!

A lot to choose from and very friendly staff. They also stand by their one year guarantee and replaced our rhododendron that died. That made me real happy.

We had a terrace wall and large stone steps installed in our back yard The work crew was friendly and did a great job. The designer who sold us the job checked on progress and conferred with us to make sure we were happy with progress. Snows Garden Center did a great job on the landscaping to the rear of my house. They arrived on time each day, provided quality plants, installed them professionally, and hauled away all debris from the removal of dangerous trees. Would definitely work with them again.

Snows was the contractor for a patio addition with pavers and a seat-wall. It was a rewarding experience as the work was done on schedule and within their estimated budget. The quality was excellent and everyone they had working was professional, pleasant and diligent regarding quality and thoroughness.

We asked Zach at the Garden Center to help us create an entirely new landscape for our front yard. He put together a wonderful plan, allowed us to have insight on what worked or didnt work for us, and then the team at Snows installed it on time and just as Zach detailed it. The head of the installation team, Randy, paid excellent attention to detail. We would highly recommend working with Snows. They were wonderful to work with and were extremely happy with our new front yard landscaping.

So happy with Snows and our finished landscape/hardscape project! There was a long neglected bank along our driveway, with old, overgrown junipers, Ivy, vines, weeds, volunteer trees etc. The plan needed to include a way to manage water runoff from above our yard. Trevors plan was fantastic, using a rock swale to handle the runoff and boulders to hold the soil. The workers were careful with removal and respectful of the neighbors property. The finished project added multiple flowering shrubs and perennials and mulching. The driveway was powerwashed and gravel added at the bottom to fill the ruts caused by trucks/equipment. The workers were friendly and responsive to questions/suggestions. The project exceeded our expectations and we will be definitely using Shows again!

We were very pleased with our major landscaping and patio project from start to finish, beginning with Snows excellent design. It was significant enough of a project to take about a month to complete and Snow was there on time everyday. Kate, our landscape architect, was always available for questions and was onsite most mornings. If you are looking for a very professional operation that you can trust to do what theyve promised and show up when they say, Snow is worth your business.

From our initial request to talk to someone about completely redoing our yard to the last day of work as the guys were loading up, working with Snows and all of their people has been easy and a pleasure. Phone calls and digital communications are informative and timely. We worked with the landscape architect from this is what we think we want to this is beautiful. She listened and was not offended when we wanted to make changes to her initial design. The guys on the crews do great work. They are friendly, answer questions, and clean up. Our project took several weeks through heat, rain, and nice days. And what we have is truly beautiful and getting compliments from the neighbors. Highly recommend Snows!

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff!

I first learned about Snows when I was working in construction. One day, we were regrading a driveway, and needed a load of pea gravel, and everyone said go to Snows. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to see the welcoming, shoppable, spacious, well-stocked, clean store. The prices are in keeping with other outlets, but the stock is far superior to what youll find at your Big Box Garden Center (TM). There is a lovely cat that roams there, who may or may not be blind. They also offer in-truck-bed load outs of mulch, stone, and dirt by way of front end loader. The service is stretched, but kind. Answers are quick to come from the bright and experienced staff. A colorful, airy way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommended, strongly encouraged.

Great plants and people!

Our landscape architect, Kate Sedgewick, did a nice job planning deer resistant trees and shrubs and native species, laying them out in well spaced beds with a mix of varieties and colorful combinations. The installation team worked their tails off to build new beds and carefully relocate existing plants. Job well done!

I visited Snows on Avon St for the first time ever today and I have to say that the customer service I experienced was absolutely fabulous. Casey, Nick and Jason were all super helpful. I will be back again...Snows is now my new go to for all things garden and landscape!

Diego and his crew did a fantastic job for us. We have a new patio, retaining wall/seating area and flagstone pathways in our backyard. They are perfectionists in all aspects of the installation work. The crews took time to do everything right the first time to our satisfaction. They cleaned up our yard and were very nice people to work with. We also want to thank Cindy who designed our project and can out to check progress. She is also great to work with. Thanks Tammy in the office too. A fine job by everyone.

As always, Snows (Aaron and the intern Trevor) showed up promptly to discuss my needs. Routine work (now about 25 years of it) was discussed professionally and with the personal knowledge of my home and grounds. Both listened well to what I wanted on my new project and I look forward to seeing what they (and Corbin) put together for me and the dogs. Would not consider anyone else for this work.

This landscaping company does first-rate work on all aspects of gardening. They ve trimmed, laid new grass, and created some terrific landscaping designs for me. Aaron Bridgeforth is the very best at running this part of their business. They get five stars from me.

Janice Hunter was a pleasure to work with. She made great suggestions and happily adapted our design plan when we had new ideas or suggestions. The landscape team worked very hard even with difficult weather this Spring. We love our new backyard & throughly enjoy our garden, especially our pugster butterfly bushes!

Snows Tammy Judge designed and supervised the installation of a residential flower/shrub bed for me here in Fluvanna County earlier this year (2021). I found the price to be reasonable, the design process flexible and the results outstanding. The employees who worked on the installation were professional and polite. Im looking forward to her help again next spring to create a similar bed on the other side of the property.

Snows did both the design (Kate Sedgwick) and the installation of a total make-over of our back yard in the city. The work included completely regrading the site, hardscaping, fieldstone retaining walls, a parking area, sod, pathways and extensive plantings. We could not be happier with the entire process, from design (Kate is so easy to work with and knows here stuff) through installation and warranty work. The workers were delightful people, the type of folks one is happy to have on the property. They took their time to do the work correctly, including some meticulous hardscaping work that was done with superior craftsmanship. There were many instances of surprises that Snows could not have anticipated, and they never once charged us a penny extra. These were not little things, like finding an entire concrete slab buried in the yard, and needing granite block to create a proper edging. We also had a few plants that needed replacement since the work happened in the heat and dry of July, which Corbin and the team at Snows handled without any issue. Everyone who visits marvels at the transformation. It is beautiful, functional, and a delightful addition to our home. Thanks, Snows!

We are so pleased with our experience with Snows! They installed beautiful steps in our side yard and the service was exceptional. Janice was wonderful to work with. She has a great eye for landscape design and was very respectful of our preferences and opinions and gave really great suggestions. She oversaw the work that was done, communicated well, and made sure the steps were completed exactly according to the plan/design. I was also really impressed with the men who installed the steps. They were friendly, courteous, hard working, and precise. It was really muddy from rain the week they installed the steps but they spent a lot of time cleaning up afterwards and left our yard and driveway nicer than before they started. I highly recommend Snows based on our experience!

Really happy with Snows hardscaping work in our front driveway / patio area!

I have contracted with Snow s Garden Center many times and for a wide range of projects over the past 20 years. Their work is always done in a timely fashion and the quality of their work is excellent. Thus, my continued loyalty to them.

We have used Snows services for both landscape design and maintenance for the past two years with great results. This fall we will complete a three-phase design and implementation plan -- from sod to perennials to trees, tens and tens of plantings -- and were really pleased with the enhanced appearance of our property, the quality of the product, the vision of the design, and the overall advice and support weve received for where we want to take the landscaping. We also use Snows for all the lawn maintenance and cleanup. Overall, their team is great to work with, they listen to all of our input and when they commit to a response plan they execute timely. Weve had a lot to tackle to take the property where wed like and were really pleased to have partners like Janice and Aaron to lead us there!!

Snows was great to work with and did a very high quality job on our backyard patio and landscaping. It did take a bit of time and following up to get a response at times but the overall process with them was thoughtful and thorough. Im very happy with how our stone retaining wall and patio turned out! Beautiful job.

Favorite nursery in the area, Ive never had a bad experience. All of the staff are so wonderful and my husband and I have had great luck with all of our plants weve purchased from them over the years.

Snows did the landscaping for our new home including a stone retaining wall. They were fabulous! The experience went smoothly from design to installation--they even power washed the sidewalks to clean up all the mess from construction. We love the results and strongly recommend them!!!

We just completed a major project with Snows for our new house in Charlottesville. It included an open French drain combination walkway and plantings throughout the lot. Great local garden center! Have had nothing but good experiences with Snows in the past. I called today to place a curbside order and the staff members I spoke to were extremely friendly and helpful. I was so impressed with the quality of the plants I received, especially the sunshine blueberry! Thank you to the Snows team for doing such a fantastic job always, but especially during these times where many of us would not otherwise be able to visit. The curbside pickup was super efficient and incredibly helpful!

Bought a bird bath really great price .

Within a week of buying a dumb cane my plant looks like this. This is my first time experiencing this. I called and they told me there isn t anything they could do about it. Didn t even offer possible tips. To me that is bad customer service though my in person experience wasn t bad, this is enough for me not to return.

TBH I havent been yet BUT they fill propane M-Sat which is worth 5 stars

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE - we signed up with Snows on the recommendation of our builder for a significant job for our newly built home, and regretted our decision very quickly. Watch out for great reviews on Facebook - most of them come from people that either work there, or are associated with them - what a scam! The quality of their work is extremely poor, the people they hire have no idea what they are doing - for example, they installed sod on top on 2 thick wood chip layer - comes summer, all the grass would be dead if I did not catcht it. They proposed putting down compost under the sod - and they never did - when I pointed it out, they brought a bag of fertilizer and just dumped it down - now we have dead spots where they put too much fertilizer, which burned the grass... They installed significant amount of mulch - every load they brought was a different color. I have pictures of their people sitting and playing on their phones. I can go on, and on... absolutely horrible company to work with. Their designer, Janice, wants to tell you how wonderful they are - she, herself has no idea what she is doing - when questioned about proper way of installing, she gets very defensive... and they are very expensive - I thought I was buying a piece of mind - wrong. There is something wrong with the picture when the owner shows up in his designer clothes, in his new Mercedes to supervise the site. This feedback coming from someone who has worked landscaping jobs for top notch firms early in his career.

First-time customer. Their service is Very expensive and I hope to get first-class treatment but the results are terrible. All perennials they planted died. Basically I paid several hundred dollars for nothing. And they claimed it is not included in warranty. Totally a ripoff. Will NOT recommend to any friend or local people. Do your research before jump into their traps.

Snows should know-by word of mouth they will have to close.
