Yard Dawgs Lawn Care in Calgary

We started using Yard Dogs 2 years ago and have noticed a significant improvement in weed control and lawn health. They communicate with us regularly and provide timely and effective treatments

Bryce did a great job with a Vegetation Control service! The mulched areas of my yard were full of weeds earlier in the season and are looking great now.

Austin was just out for my last chinch bug spray, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. I picked his brain on the way out and got all the information I need to prevent them next year. Thanks Austin!

Wish I had before & after photos! AJ & their team helped me achieve a thick green lawn for the first time in years! I feel it was worth the investment.

Their salesman AJ was super annoying - calling multiple times, texting, AND emailing, just to get my business. I finally agreed, then after that, surprise surprise, you get treated like a piece of garbage. They dont tell you when the service is, they dont tell you separate people will come to do the service, when they get here, they then say they cant do said service, and then they ignore you. The communication, timeliness, is so poor.

This was our first year using Yard Dawgs to improve the health of our lawn. Despite Calgary having some level of water restriction throughout the summer, my lawn is in great health, boasting a dark, healthful green colour. We saw a reduction in barren areas and where growth was poor, a significant improvement. Today, our tech, Steven Waga, efficiently treated our lawn with a liquid aeration treatment to close off the lawn season. We look forward to engaging Yard Dawgs again to maintain our lawns health.

3 year update Jack Grover we above beyond today, thank you Jack. After 3 years of using Yard Dogs I can honestly say theyve been awesome. My yard as always looked great. Ive increased my package Ive decreased my package and then I went back up having the extra Services have helped. I have even randomly seen the owners tiktok posts which have been nice to see and understand things better I decided to try Yard Dogs for a change and they have not disappointed yet. Steve was just at my house today doing the week control application and he was great. took the time to answer my questions and gave me some great info in general. I had a recent experience with this comoany as I was checking about weed control. First the lady insist on providing her my visa card information in advance which i did not agree. Later without my consent or any further communication sime one just show up on my property and did some treatment and left a sign board. Thats how I know, when I called them to check whats going on and howcome without my consent or informing me why they did it. Even the staff did not know later send email regarding payment.Which i dont understand how an un professional practice is this.I waz very disappointed the way they deal and communicate with clients.

We were late in the season hiring Yard Dawgs, as we were originally advised we did NOT have the dreaded chinch bugs. Our dead patch was not coming back, so I called Yard Dawgs. Technician Steven knocked on our door as we wanted to see if we actually had them. He showed us the little destroyers. After treatment (about 2 weeks later) we checked, and there was definitely a significant lower population of these bugs. Highly recommend Yard Dawgs.

Eryn Larson was here today to do the Winterizer Treatment on my lawn today. He was very courteous and respectful even whistling before entering my back yard (in case of pets). Service was great and looking forward to discussing a full season next year!

Just had the Late Season treatment and Weed Control applied by Austin. This treatment in the past has helped ensure that the lawn stays lush for the later days of summer. In the past couple of weeks, we also had Kelton apply the Sea Kelp and Steven did the first application for chinch bugs. Expecting some great results. The heat and lack of watering ability has been tough on the lawn, but the Mid Season treatment done by Matthew back in June and his suggestion to keep the grass taller has allowed the lawn to survive. Thanks Yard Dawgs!

Their communication became horrible after we became customers. We sent multiple emails with no response. Edit: The office manager followed up on our complaint and promised future improvements. I admire Lawn Dawgs effort and change my review from 1 star to 3 stars. We will return for a further review after this season.

The weeds on my lawn were out of control and are completely gone now after 3 treatments. My lawn is getting stronger and healthier thanks to the technicians, Kelton, Bryce and Jack. Definitely recommend this company!

These guys come on a schedule so my family just set it up and they show up and do their thing. The lawn has been perfect all season, people have actually remarked on how there never seems to be a weed anywhere in our front or back yard and I didnt even lift a finger at all! I hired this company 2022 & 2023 for weed control application. It ended up my backyard lawn more than half were dead. The worse was the company saved my credit card information without a reminder and permission and charged illegally to my credit card for unconfirmed service. Additionally, I realized later this company repeatedly charged to my credit card for the same weed control service. Terrible! I would never go back to them.

We are using Yard Dawgs for the first time this season, seems to he going very well and our technician Mika is taking good care of our grass. Keep it up!

In short, thanks to Yard Dawgs out lawn looks fantastic! They have kept my lawn lush, green, and weed free for the past 7 years. Their service is awesome, the technicians are excellent as is their customer service. A shout out to Austin who has been providing great service this year for me! While the review below is about landscaping, what I say about their great service, skill and dedication applies to the lawn care service as well. ...... We had a great experience with Yard Dawgs on a major transformation of our front and back yards. We had our own designs wed drawn out and they were able to stay true to those designs but also came forward with a lot of great ideas too. Wed had a few other estimates and Yard Dawgs were very competitively priced. More than that though, they won us over with their enthusiasm and integrity. Dont be worried that they are too young, these are experienced, knowledgeable and highly skilled young men. In addition, the entire crew was very professional in appearance, attire and language, hard-working, and always pleasant to deal with. They seem to truly enjoy the work, and were very dedicated to ensuring that we were happy with the results. We have received many compliments on the work. In the back yard, the deck they created for us was extremely complicated and yet they completed it with tremendous skill and ingenuity. It is with great pride that we will show off what has to be one of the most unique decks in the entire city. How many people can say they have two 60-year-old trees growing right through their deck? Yard Dawd s technician Noah Did the servicing on my yard today. He s come several times this year and last and is always professional and willing to answer questions or do spot treatment in an area that is resistant to weed killer. i started using Yard services about a year ago as I accidentally rounded up a ton of weeds in my yard, thought it was weed control. thinking that we needed to resod the grass completely, yard Dawgs assured me they could make it grow back. they were correct. about 85% of what i killed has come back and looks great. they were also able to ride our fairy ring. absolutely happy with the service. Austin was very nice and answered questions I had and help me understand what exactly they were doing with my lawns.

[Edit:] My 1* review switched to a 3*. Yard Dawgs have gone out of their way to turn my frown upside down. I allowed a second opportunity to come and deal with Chinch bug service. But this time, I did get a report. What I have are leaf hoppers, and not chinch bugs. And Yard Dawgs does not treat leaf hoppers. (just for reference, the treatments when googled are identical). I have also since, signed up for a yearly program (in order that my account doesnt automatically get cancelled). When the weed spraying occurred, a conversation between the tech and myself, revealed that the 2 biggest weed issues I have (aspen suckers, and thistles), are not really guaranteed with the spray that they use. It will definitely have to be a dual job, and that I will have to supplement the spraying for the thistles and suckers. I have also purchased the equipment and insecticide to deal with the leaf-hoppers myself. Certainly Yard Dawgs are extremely pleasant to deal with, and Emma has done a great job, and gone to great lengths to try and turn this google review around. I appreciate that their ethics wont allow them to treat something they dont offer a program for. (even though it is the same treatment). The 3* rating simply reflects, that at the end of the day, it is me who is performing my own services, and that it is outside of Yard Dawgs capabilities. [end edit] Services, (when performed) were actually not bad. (last year). For 2024 though, a completely different picture. Still awaiting my spring chinch bug service. Received an e-mail that it would FINALLY be done on July 5th. (I guess better really late than never). No one came. (I was home all day) No sign left on the lawn. No e-mail. No call. So, I phoned in. Oh, something seems to be amiss with your account. Its cancelled. Hang on. Like, what?? yes, our technician went, and noted that your lawn looks like a golf course. Are....you.....sure you went to the right address??? (repeats address to me). Yes, its the right address. But my lawn does NOT look like a golf course. Where was my phone call? An e-mail? Any kind of communication at all? Yes, I am sorry, we should have let you know. So......you are not coming later in the year? Or next year? Correct. Your account has been cancelled. I went back through my security camera footage for July 5. No one came to my house, or my yard.

Signed up for the largest package only to be told when the tech arrived that they cant kill grass in the rocks and the bear patch service is a jug of seed you apply yourself... opposite of what the sales guy said on the phone! The company advertised free aeration with purchase of a package but would not honour it until I sent a screen shot of the ad. Frustrated I opted to change to the basic weed package. Here we are now weeds didnt die, no aeration has been done and THEY ARE CHARGING my credit card like they are preforming the large package service which they have not done!!!!

we just started using Yard Dawgs as our lawn company and to start the sales representative AJ Davey was amazing! very knowledgeable and quick to answer all my questions and help me find the right products for my lawn care. than the technician who has now come out twice Steven Waga has done a great job and we really appreciate the fast reliable service from him. we will be using Yard Dawgs going forward and recommending them.

Yard Dawgs have been doing my lawn for three seasons. Have been courteous in all dealings with office and very responsive to requests. Willing to reschedule based on my requirements . Lawn technicians like Austin today have been on time for scheduled appts. Through in their coverage and clean up, including any dry fertilizer on sidewalks and driveways. Have a pet and never an issue. Get the report of service done and lawn conditions within minutes of service completion. Lawn weeds are under control.

We signed up for Yard Dawgs years ago when our lawn was suffering; initially we were very happy with their services. After two years, we decided we couldn t afford the lawn care prices anymore and, at the end of the season, i spoke on the phone with a customer service rep to cancel our services. I was guaranteed that we were done at that time. In 2022, my husband was away for the summer and we learned from the year prior it is difficult to get the aerator into our backyard without help. I spoke with Mackenzie in the office, mentioned this to her and said they need two technicians to get it in there - as the year before my husband had to help. We had new additions of a fire table and patio furniture as well. She made a note that ours was a 2 tech house. I did say to her - if it s too much of a hassle with the fire table, you can skip the backyard aeration. Well, both husband and I happen to be home when the two techs showed up- one stood in the front lawn while the other aerated the front. The second got into his truck and drove off. The one who had aerated, got into his truck before he drove off, husband went outside and asked why they weren t doing the backyard - he said there was a note to not do the backyard. Absolutely not. We asked him to do it, husband had to help the tech get the aerator in the backyard. The following year (2023), a Yard Dawg technician showed up and proceeded to perform an early season treatment on our lawn. I called the company quickly and asked why he had shown up when I had cancelled and he told me our account is set to auto-renew, but I have turned that off for you! When I asked him about ensuring our services were actually cancelled for that year, he mentioned I HAD to pay for the one service performed and tried to upsell me for the rest of the season. I ended up paying for one treatment (updated my credit card number on file with them to do so) and they came once a month, the rest of the season, at no charge. They never showed up at the end of the season. I assumed things were all done since I had been taken off the auto-renew , they didn t come end of season, and had physically contacted and spoken with a second rep confirming I wanted my services cancelled for the next year . Lo and behold it s now 2024 and I ve received an email saying a technician will be performing early season treatment May 13. Which tells me I am STILL on the auto-renew and my multiple concerns and phone calls to this company have meant nothing. And they have my credit card info to still charge me for the first visit- unless I get my pregnant butt up out of bed early to wait around all day for the tech to show up, just to tell him to leave . Which is not realistic for anyone with a job. I have been pleasant and cooperative, and we have been a customer for years- but I am beyond frustrated with the pure lack of caring when it comes to what your customers actually want. I now have to make another attempt at cancelling my services with this company - on a day when they are not in office, yet their website says they are open 9-5. I do not blame the technicians, they do as they are assigned - they do a good job but the way this company is run is shameful. Fair warning to everyone considering purchasing, it is a nightmare and a half to get out of. It s not hassle-free no contract BS. The only reason this is 2 stars and not 1, is because they do a decent job.

This is a company that cannot accept no. If you have yard dawgs it is impossible to get rid of them I asked in an email to take me off their auto renew service and this year I got a text today saying they are coming to my house tomorrow. They are a shady company.

I feel like this company has gone downhill. It used to be good but not anymore. My lawn looks terrible in the front and it was due to cinch bugs that the technicians didnt seem to notice. Also when they visit make sure they do the services they promised to do. One time I was home and saw the guy walk around the backyard and not spray anything. I called the office and was assured by the office woman that he sprayed for weeds and fertilized when clearly that was not true. Be very careful with their auto renewal. They will sign you up for another year with little to no warning. I was on vacation so I missed the vague email. Ive also heard they are aggressive when cancelling. They will call, email, call again, email again, call again, etc... With this review Im expecting a phone call from them but Ive blocked their number. Just an FYI a lot of these reviews are fake and at the request of the lawn technician because if its 5 stars and their name is mentioned they get $20.

The last 2 days Aidan from Yard Dawgs attended to my residence to apply a weed control application and address the Chinch bug problem. He communicated pre and post application and went above and beyond with top dressing and seeding the damage caused by the Chinch bugs. He also left me two bags of grass seed that I will be able to use for future over seeding. Any time I have contacted the company for guidance and direction, I have been impressed with the knowledge level and extreme professionalism from every phone call. This is my first full year of using the Yard Dawgs and have been more than impressed. Great company to deal with.

Our lawn was destroyed last year when we had the house resided, between equipment, supplies and neglect, so we decided to enlist your help in bringing it back to life. We also have a neighbour who neglects his property and find ourselves constantly fighting weeds from his yard. We are quite pleased with how well our yard is growing! The grass has filled in most of the dead areas in the front and it looks healthy. The back is still a work in progress but the dogs don t help. All three of the young men who have been here have been pleasant, professional and efficient. They have offered advice which has made a difference as well. Let me tell you - from the initial contact that was made last week to begin this process, to the actual execution of this minor project was seamless. Beware of this company if your neighbour uses it and you don t. On August 2, they sprayed my entire front yard with pesticide, (I have full video) without my permission, without my knowledge, with no attempt to get ahold of me as the homeowner, and with no warning afterwards letting me know it was done. They sprayed because a neighbour, their customer, wanted to cut down on the possibility that the bugs they were killing were in our lawn too. They had hired Yarddawgs for treatment, we had not. This violation was done for 50.00. At anytime while still wet, myself and my family could have unknowingly walked through it. We did walk through it later that day, having no idea that we were tracking a pesticide into our home. Even more egregious, they did it with both my childrens bedroom windows right where they sprayed and FULLY OPEN. I contacted the company, they actually stated that they had permission from the neighbour apparently they see no need for me to be part of the decision of my lawn being covered in poison at that time. They also stated the kids bedroom windows being wide open was not a problem . Well it was a problem for me. I ve repeatedly asked for owner name/contact they will not provide. EDIT TO ADD no permission was given by either of us to spray, to our neighbour or the company, although I can see why the company is now trying to claim it, to alleviate some of the blame. This claim is new btw MORE IMPORTANTLY which they don t seem to get call it a gift all you want your company sprayed our yard with pesticide without any HOMEOWNER permission. Stop blaming the neighbour and just say we will get homeowner permission BEFORE we spray a yard!

Glad I switched to Yard Dawgs. All of their people have been fantastic and getting notifications before and letting me know when they ve arrived is perfect.

Yard Dawgs eradicated our cinch bug issue that is effecting so many lawns in Calgary. There were several homes on our steeet with this problem and they fixed it. I am happy with their clear and prompt communication about my services, upcoming visits for weed control and fertilization. Steven did my service today and sent me full detailed report of the services he did. It was fall fertiler and weed control that was done today.

We got our very first weed control treatment from this company after the first round we didn t notice any significant improvement in our garden they said that they will do a second round of treatment in 4 weeks they never came back for the 2nd treatment. We called their Customer Support several time they never pick phone, we left voicemails no one called back. I signed up with them after seeing their good reviews and now I m regretting my decision. Pathetic with no support at all

Called the Dawgs last month for service. My lawn was full of weeds, I had never seen it this bad! They came in sprayed it and fertilized it. My lawn is looking great now. No more weeds and its rather green and lush. Received my second service this morning by Steve and he did great! Good value if you care about your lawn.

Finally found a landscaping company that does a phenomenal job. My backyard was in really rough shape. They turned it around with just one treatment. I m so used to other companies burning most of your lawn with fertilizer, so I was hesitant but I am really happy I gave them a chance. Super professional, Amazing follow up and care. Yard Dawgs did an excellent job to rejuvenate our neighbours weedy back lawn by applying herbicide and slow-release fertilizer. They even did an extra application of herbicide to eradicate some persistent Canada thistles, after I called them to let them know that some were in need of another application.

We had a terrible dandelion problem which I had worked very hard on before digging up each one by hand, using White vinegar .. but they returned almost immediately. Yard Dawgs has eliminated weeds from our lawn.

We onboarded Yard Dawgs for the 1st time in 2023 due to the CTV publicity they received regarding the chinch bug epidemic. Not wanting to have permanent damage done to our lawn by these pests we contacted them to address our newly discovered infestation. They came out more than once to apply treatments without argument or hesitation (at no additional charge). Without question they actually place customers as King!! We also had Yard Dawgs apply a new to us liquid aeration product that we hope improves the condition of our lawns topsoil. We have complete trust dealing with this company and will continue doing business with them into the future. They deliver 5 Star service. I highly recommend them!

I kick myself for not using Yard Dogs earlier. Years of spending money on tools and chemicals to fight the dandelion crop we called a yard. Around $200, a couple confirmatory emails and yard dogs came and went without interrupting our day. the weeds died, and then vanished over a few weeks: and stayed away. Our lawn has never looked better. Definitely will continue to use them:) very good communication and results!

The guy stop by and did a quick shot then gone without a drop of . It will take $100 from your pocket. Dont expect any magic from that winterization application. A full bag of that fertilizer from Costco just cost $40. DONT GET CHEATED by this

We are just completing our second season with Yard Dawgs and our lawn has never looked better. We have noticed a significant reduction in the presence of weeds and our lawn is green and healthy with limited intervention (i.e., watering) by us. We have found the entire Yard Dawgs team to be professional and courteous. Their communication is excellent and the technicians always arrive on time and provide an efficient but thorough service. We highly recommend their services for quality and value for your hard-earned money.

Have used Yard Dawgs a number of years ago for spring clean up. First time using them for weed control and fertilizer this year. Gabe did an excellent job, he was very professional, informed me what he will be doing and answered all my questions, he is very patient and knowledgeable!! The weeds are almost all gone, I love the idea of having spot weed control top-ups included in the price if any pop up. This company is punctual, professional and their products work, I have no reservation in recommending them. Follow-up: I am still using Yard Dawgs for my lawn care needs, specifically for weed control. Caleb has done a wonderful job. Now if only they could have a way to eradicate creeping bell flower! Daniel was out last and did a great job!

This is our first year having Yard Dawgs Lawn Care take care of our lawn. Our yard before Yard Dawgs was not in best condition. We had a trampoline for years and the grass was almost dead under the trampoline. Lots of weeds. The technician took very good care, and with the seeds they suggested and fertilizer they used the lawn now looks amazing!!! Definitely recommend their service

Price is very reasonable, always punctual and responds quickly. Got the Fall package and weed control, the latter seems to be doing alright, Too early to comments on how well the Fall treatment worked, will update next year.

Pretty poor quality and a bad policy on the snow removal yard dawgs have missed doing my 93 year old grandma house 2 times now in the really short snow seasons AND if one shovel the walk for their grandmother instead of tracking it down.
