Rainy Day Irrigation & Landscaping in Caldwell

Ron and I hit it off at the get go. Guess I remind him of his Mother my husband I wanted more trees in our backyard. We moved in about 6 weeks ago and used someone else only because we didn t know about him. He spent almost 2 hours with us at his property and we decided on a blue spruce a purple ash and an autumn flame maple. He came out today and he and Jose did a superb job of planting and clean up. Today July 9, 2023 we just purchased 2 more trees from him but we need to wait until it s cooler. His trees are about 15+ feet which is what we need to cover our neighbors antennas. Can t wait to get them in! Update: I asked Ron to come over and look at a specific tree and have not heard back from him. There are quite a few dead branches at the top I wanted him to lop off.

RON IS AMAZING!!!! We have been working with Rainy Day for the last 6 months on a larger project. He is landscaping about 10 acres for us. Including planting over 200 trees, beds, lighting, irrigation, hard scapes, drainage, just to name a few. I can say without hesitation that Ron cares deeply about his clients and the outcome of their project. His attention to detail and care is the best I have ever experienced. When things green up I will happily add some pictures.

I need help with my sprinklers so went to Google. This was the best rated company and most experienced. I have three broken impact sprinklers and a line that is leaking and needs a coupler. I went ahead and called and politely introduced myself and inquired on my issues. To be greeted by Ron, who said you know I ve been doing this a long and I m really backed up and I don t feel like doing it anymore. So I promptly said, well then let me go ahead and end this phone call. I understand time of year and you are backed up but to flat out say no, offer no referrals or anything. Bad business. Time to take your business down and close up shop. Not a way to speak to potential new business.

I ve never had to leave a bad review before-but this is a must for propel to know before talking to Rainy Day. The person I spoke to on the phone had an ego bigger than the state of Idaho. First he argued with me about where I lived in Caldwell, then he acted like he didn t have time for my sprinkler repair needs because they were so busy with bigger projects. Last, he made it sound like I couldn t afford his services because he is so experienced that he can charge much higher prices. $200 just for me to show up because I owned a business for several years and I have a lot of experience in what I do. I ended the phone call with, I certainly wouldn t want to waste your time. He also acted offended when he heard my 4yo daughter in the background. These people are probably experienced and do excellent work, but you lost my business. I will not be recommending their services to anyone with kids or a young family (or anyone else for that matter). Very rude and unprofessional. You can t talk to a customer that way and expect good results. (From other reviews-It sounds like this isn t the first time he has talked to a customer this way) I called another company and they helped me immediately with no ego problems. Haha And they weren t bothered when they heard my kids in the background.

I got better customer service in prison. Would not recommend.

See previous review about not taking on small jobs until June of 2024 due to million dollar landscaping. Not that I could argue with choosing the more profitable jobs and I appreciate the honesty, but not having a recommendation for any other company gave me a sour taste. Do you Rainy Day and keep on keeping on. Clients, save yourself the conversation if youre looking for small repairs prepare to wait a year or so or forever.

Ron provided every aspect of our landscaping needs. He and his awesome crew designed and executed a homeowners dream yard. He saved us so much money when he changed our minds about a concrete retaining wall around our pool. He used decorative blocks that look amazing! Rons creativity was my favorite part about working with him. Ron became someone I consider a friend during our contract relationships. He still checks in on us at least once a month, making sure were still satisfied with our job. This spring Ron came out to assist me in the summer start up of our sprinkler system. As he was turning on the main line off of our well he noticed a water spot and the start of a sinkhole. He had only planned on a 20 min job but it turned into 2 days of digging up next to my well, discovering a broken nipple (that our plumber had installed 2 years earlier), and replacing the nipple with a better quality one. He could have easily said that I needed to call the plumber as it was their problem. Instead, he worked overtime and took care of it. Above and beyond. I highly recommend Rainy Day for all of your landscaping needs.

Called to get a bid on a complete sprinkler system installation. Was told there probably be an on site estimate within two days. I have checked back three times over the past two weeks. Ron (my contact person - the owner?) requests I leave a message which I did on each occasion. There was never a return call/message

My wife and I stopped by to look at trees and decided to purchase two of them. A Norwegian Spruce and a Sensation Maple. Ron sold us a sick tree, even though his form states all trees are in good health. When I tell him the tree is basically dead, after it is planted, his response was, You knew I sold you a sick tree. He also left the burlap strings around the trunk of the evergreen we purchased, which suffocated it. Ron claimed that he always leaves the strings attached. I asked him if he offers a service to help the trees grow and I asked to be put on his schedule and he shook his head, then told me he wasnt interested. His excuse was because of the location of where my house was. Before I ever confronted Ron on his slimy business practices, I hired a professional firm that specializes in soil and plant testing to come out to my property and confirm if Ron screwed up with the strings and to confirm if the sensation maple tree was going to die, that way I could show Ron the report as evidence. Ron was argumentative regarding the findings of the tree and instead, yielded to his years of experience as an excuse. After enough back and forth with Ron, I concluded the conversation and demanded that Ron remove the sensation maple from my yard. I threatened to file a dispute with the bank if he would not willingly refund me the money. He wrote me the check then scheduled to remove the tree. He dumped the tree in the back of the neighborhood where I lived. Making it someone elses problem. His business name suits his business practices, because if you do business with Ron, it will be nothing but a Rainy Day, if you know what I mean. I would not recommend Ron or his company to anybody.

Rainy Day has done a few different projects for us. Ron takes the time to listen to what your needs are and tries to give you what want/need. Everyone in this area needs to understand how busy landscapers are with the huge increase of building going on. Ron was very accommodating and we love the work his company has done for us!

Bought 2 trees from Ron and Rusty. Had them delivered and planted. Jacob and Jose also removed and planted 2 bushes and moved some boulders. Great service at a good price. Would highly recommend for all your landscaping needs.

My husband and I had received several estimates for the landscaping of our nearly an acre back yard. They were all pretty close in price. A couple of them had a detailed design. When we first met Ron something just felt right. He never gave us a design plan and we let him have the job based on some ideas that he had in his head. We had to wait several months to get started but it was well worth the wait. We now have a stunning back yard far beyond what we expected. We also hired him for some other small projects. Ive had Ron do a few things for me and he has always done a great job!

Ron and his crew did an awesome job installing 6 large poplar trees, 2 plum trees and removing some bushes we no longer wanted. He also dug up and reset a troublesome drainpipe and made it look easy. Thanks Ron...excellent job! Highly recommended!!!!

Asked Rob about putting in sod and a sprinkler system in our backyard, he responded by saying that it was too small of a job and he wasn t interested . I even went as far as asking for a referral to a different company he might suggest and he responded by stating that we are the best but kept saying that he wasn t interested in our small job . A complete lack of professionalism in my opinion. I guess this landscaper isn t interested In anything other than large jobs. If he wasn t so rude, it wouldn t have been such an awful call. 10/10 wouldn t not recommend.

We visit with Ron on Saturday at 11am, get an education and select a tree to replace one that died, pay for our new tree with delivery/removal/install and to our surprise Ron was able to put his two best landscape techs on the job same day and our new tree was in place by 4pm that afternoon! Wow, we got lucky and our experience was premium. Techs were efficient, answered many of our questions and super polite!! Doesn t get any better than this! Thanks Rainy Day Team!

Ron the owner was nice and personable and more importantly knew more than any nursery I had visited previously. Picking out the trees was an enjoyable process once he saw our property and gave valuable feedback on what he would do in our situation. Called Ron to see about replacing a solenoid valve on my sprinkler system. After telling him what was wrong he gave me an easy test to figure out what the problem was and told me exactly how to fix it without even charging me a dime. Thats what I call customer service. Most companies these days will send a guy out and charge top dollar even when they know its an easy fix. Thanks Ron!!

I had a sprinkler issue that needed taken care of before leaving town in 3 days. I called Ron and he was at my house within 20 minutes. He found the problem quickly and got the sprinklers up and running. The charge was very reasonable as well. Highly recommend his company.

We contacted Ron to do our backyard landscaping. His crew came in and with some suggestion from Ron we came upon a plan and a price. After finishing the pavers under the gazebo and a new patio, flagstone paths, dry well, sprinklers, sod, flowerbeds and rock we now have a backyard we want to go back to. We also had Everlasting Curbs come in and put 124 feet of curbing in that really added to the look.

Wish I could rate the work of this company. Unfortunately this man was short, impatient and generally rude. If they didnt want to quote for me, there was a proper way to handle it. They chose a different route. Hopefully Ron was just having a bad day and this treatment of potential customers isnt typical.

We would recommend Rainy Day irrigation etc..They dropped everything and repaired a Frost Free Faucet that had broken and was running water everywhere. They even went to the store and purchased a new one! The work was done quickly and left the area almost as good as new..You cant dig 4 feet down with out some change. Got rid of some of my weeds too. Thanks again, Rainy Day.

After a long Winter, I was eager to turn on my sprinklers and watch the flowers bloom. Unfortunately, when I turned on the sprinklers, nothing was happening, and not being the most hands-on homeowner I had no idea where to start. After a quick Google search, I decided to call Rainy Day and Im so glad I did. Ron came out and quickly found the problem, but didnt leave it at that. Had a great experience with Rainy Day and Ron! He called me back within about 10 minutes of leaving him a message. Ron was able to come out and meet with me within a couple of hours of my initial call. He turned on my water, adjusted the sprinklers and went through the stations with me. I opted to have a few replaced and he got the work done before I got home from work that evening and called to let me know everything was done. All of this for a very responsible price! Ron and his crew put in our lawn and Irrigation system in October 2017. We now (August 2018) have a beautiful lawn . We fought early spring weeds including some persistent un wanted native grasses, Thanks to Ron , his knowledge and experience, we rid our lawn of all unwanted vegetation. the process included adding a layer of compost and the seed was drilled in mainly due to the time of the year and the approaching frost. Ron listened to our wishes and gave us advise when we needed it. we now have the lawn we wanted and the irrigation system we wanted as well. we would recommend Rainy Day, Ron , and his crew to any one. They did a great job with my sprinkler system showed me how to use the sprinkler controller. super nice answered any question I had . Him and his staff were awesome with my dog .we also bought a couple trees from him went to his lot and got to pick them out they planted them and did a beautiful job. just had Rainy Day Landscape over to work on my yard. what a great crew! had five hard working men on the team and did a great job. completed all that needed to be done quickly but very well. one special observation is the cleanup after the main tasks was conplete. the crew leader inspected all the tasks to ensure was to his very high standards. great leadership shown. great, hard working, crew. this is my first use of this company but will not be the last. thanks guys, great job.

Ron did a superb job with leveling, landscaping and installing irrigation, so all areas of the yard are covered. Rock filled garden beds, with brick boarders have eye appeal and deter weed growth. Seeded grass was looking great within 3 weeks. Ron was very personable, asking about our desires and sharing his vast knowledge of trees and bushes.

Ron and his guys were a complete pleasure to work with. We gave Ron a general idea of what we wanted to achieve with our backyard remodel (which was very boring) and he somehow transformed our ideas into a work of art. Ron saw our vision and then some. Ron and his two guys are Amazing! They went above and beyond to not only give us what we wanted but educated us on what we needed. Heres our story.....We just built a brand new home on Middleton, Idaho. So we needed a full sprinkler system for the backyard along with grass. He came by our house the same day I called and gave us a quote. He didnt just look at the yard and give us a Bs quote in 5 mins. He took the time to walk our half acre lot, assess the soil, and give us tips on what he thought would best for Our lawn. We knew after he left that out of all the companies we contacted to give us a quote. He was by far the best, because he took the time to listen to us and he truly cared. We ended up having the entire back yard Rototilled/ grated to prepare it for the quality sprinklers and drill seeding, new sod put in the front because the sod our builder put in died and the builder wouldnt replace it, plant trees. Along the way Ron and his guys came across a few issues that the builders landscapers messed up on as well. They fixed them and kept going. We were continued to be impressed. They are all very professional and respectful. Always cleaned up after themselves. They also moved a few trees for us and I bought a tree from Rons tree farm and they planted that as well. It looks the best out of all the trees! After they finished everything a couple of days ago. They came back by to check and noticed one of the sprinklers sprung a leak (it happens sometimes) instead of ignoring it and waiting for it to get worse. They fixed it right away. No extra cost. They are even gonna come by in a week or two and cut the grass for the first time. Just to make sure everything is taking and working properly. Thats Great Customer Service!!! Ron and his crew did a complete make over of the landscaping at my new build home. They fixed existing problems with the irrigation, put in a rock wall, planted six large trees, planted flower beds and had curbing put in around flower bed areas. Ron is easy to talk to and listened to all my needs. He returns to check on the trees and landscaping and makes suggestions on correcting issues to get best results. I will use them any of my new yard projects.

Being new home owners in Nampa we needed help with several drainage problems. A neighbor suggested Rainy Day Landscaping. Owner Ron Schaffeld identified and installed French Drains. He then built a berm and relocated the trees and added some nice plants and shrubs from his nursery. He complemented the whole area with a faux stream bed. It looks great! Through out the work he kept the area clean and tidy. He made himself available and responded in a orderly fashion. I would also compliment his two long time trust worthy employees. They were wonderful on the work site. I would, without hesitation, recommend Rainy Day Landscaping, an honest company where a handshake still has meaning.

Ron was working on a neighbors lawn and noticed that we were trying to water some burn spots on our lawn. Since we a renters, we are not allowed to hire home or sprinkler care without approval from the home owners. Ron, however, suggested we check the main water filter which we did and discovered it was very dirty. We cleaned it, and voila, we have great water pressure now. Thanks Ron. The finished product is beautiful. The crew was polite and professional; they cleaned up after they were done. Ron is a character, easy to work with. The job was removing a tree stump and grass, building rock boarders/trim and placing in 8 very large rocks. (not cheap)
