636 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238, United States
Second location at 383 Marcus Garvey Blvd. Bedford-Stuyvesant. Brooklyn NY. Natty Garden specializes indoor and outdoor plants, as well planters, pottery, growing media, soil, nutrients and additives. Plant care, pest and disease control. Seed starting/ cloning. We are happy to guide you in choosing a plant and help repotting. We are a local business here to help you green your home and the planet.
Jodi is amazing! My beloved snake plant was sick and I didn't know what was wrong -- only that more and more leaves were dying, rapidly. Jodi let me bring my plant shortly before closing. She diagnosed it, repotted it, and patiently taught me how to propegate leaves that could be salvaged but not potted. There were three people working in the store at that time and everyone was friendly and welcoming. The selection of plants looked great. I will definitely return!
Had to start from ground zero populating a new apartment with a new group of plants… Loved the diverse selection and easy access to supplies, but best of all was Jodi ! She was beyond helpful and patient; she helped me with repotting advice, making sure I understood care routines, carefully checking for diseases before sale, and even looking at photos of my apartment interior to gauge the trajectory of the sunlight and suggest the best areas to place the plants. Would recommend! Thank you Jodi !
I’ve been shopping at Natty since it opened. Joel has always been honest very helpful with advice. This store is a neighborhood institution and clearly a labor of love. It gets very busy during prime planning season so plan to go a little early in the day.
Good selection year round and helpful staff! I love coming to Natty Garden and never leave empty handed. They deliver within the neighborhood for a reasonable fee which is helpful for bigger items.
Apologies for the blurry photos. I really enjoyed speaking with the staff. He helped me understand the best setting for the plants I was considering. You could tell he was busy but at the same time cares about the craft, and ensuring customers leave informed.
I had such a good experience at Natty Gardens this week. I was helped out by a guy named David. I really appreciate someone who takes pride in the job that they do. He was very knowledgeable about different plants/ best seasons to grow/How often to water them/ best bang for my buck. And I really appreciate that. Sometimes you go into stores with a lot of dumb questions. David never once made me feel like I was dumb for the most simplest questions. I really appreciate the hard work of the Natty Garden team. They made me feel not just a priority but like family. And that's very rare for Brooklyn lol
I've gotten my healthiest, happiest plants for the best prices at Natty Garden. This place beats all the fancy stores hands-down. The person working there (the owner) is hard at work tending to the store, but he was very calm, patient, and helpful with me. Can't wait to go back. :)
First time there & the staff was friendly and helpful pamphlets. Lots of plants inside & pots. So nice to have this place near by.
i can always count on natty garden for my plant needs, and the owner is so nice!!
Plants on the outside not taken care of properly...always die soon after you buy
Lu was so helpful and kind, and the plants are beautiful! Thank you!
Came a long way on a hot summer day, truly beautiful plants surrounded by overly priced pots and unwelcoming energy from front desk. wished I had purchased locally instead, I know I wouldn t have left feeling so dreadful.
Says they open at 9 on their website, 9:30 gates are down. This is why people just order online
I went here to purchase tomato plants. They had a variety to choose from, plus pots, herbs, and other house plants. I purchased four cherry tomato seedlings for $2.50, which seemed like a great deal. I ll definitely be coming back.
So knowledgeable and helpful! The only plant store I go to.
Everyone who works here is always so kind and knowledgeable. I always leave with all my plant questions answered. Great prices for flowers and veggies. Love coming here!
Found beautiful plants and tomatoes. Prices were fantastic too!
Owner needs therapy and 75% of the plants are infested.
All good until you need help. I identified the trees I wanted, waited patiently for 15 minute to speak to the cashier only to be told that three other guys could help me and that they were outside. Said gentleman were nowhere to be found. It really shouldn t be this hard to spend my own money.
I stopped by Natty Garden, off Washington Ave, this morning. I walked in and greeted the male clerk. As it was my first time stopping by this plant nursery, I decided to browse around for an indoor table plant. I wasn t in this establishment for more than 5 minutes before the clerk came to look for me. As soon as he finds what aisle I am in, he seems shocked as I notice him. He says nothing but Oh to me. He didn t ask if I needed any assistance, what I came in for if I were looking for a particular plant nothing. What he did do was PROFILE me. (There were other people in this establishment as well) I continued to browse, but I decided why should I give an establishment my money when its employee was profiling me. I ended up following my instincts and leaving. I will not be returning here. There are plenty of other plant nurseries within this borough shame on you, Natty Garden for hiring such an employee. Perhaps you should re-train him or find another solution where no other customer has to be profile. It is 2024, and we, as humans, must do better!
I really wanted to like this place, since I prefer to shop small/local rather than going to the big box stores or online retailers, but I ve given them multiple chances and just can t recommend it. I bought three plants here last summer, of which two were completely infested with fungus gnats that spread to my other plants. One of those plants basically withered and died within weeks. The other one pulled through but I realized just recently that it s not even potted correctly, they just stuck three small grow pots into a bigger one and covered them with soil, it s ridiculous. I ll be shopping elsewhere for my next plant, unfortunately
Visited ONCE and NEVER went back. I went looking for a tough indoor house plant. There was a guy working and one other customer browsing around. I asked the guy working for some help and he said give him a minute. I said ok, waited standing by a plant I was considering and wanted to speak with him about. He NEVER walked over to me. He checked out the other customer. Then disappeared. I looked around and I was alone. I just walked out. RUDE. So because I cannot reply to the owners reply...I will reply here. Only Jah alone will judge you. TRUE Natty dont move so. Why do you keep changing your reply to my review. You should stand firm on what you say. The negative reviews all speak to the same poor customer service. The issue is not everyone else. As for intentionality, I am a black woman who intentionally decided to patronize a black owned business. Black owned or not, it doesnt give you a pass to be rude, then reply to my negative experience at your business in a negative and defensive way. I stand firm on what I said, TRUE Natty dont move so. As always Jah protected me that day.
Great shop, reasonably priced. The employees are very knowledgeable and more than willing to share their knowledge and recommendations without pressuring you for a sale. For someone reason everyone thinks Brooklyn should feel pretentious, exclusive and high-end. Glad this store doesn t follow suit. It feels like a relaxed local community store and that s what makes it great.
Staff was so helpful. And the plant (a gift) looks great. Thank you
Owner is rude and mean. Wont be back.
Came here to repot my 55 cactus. Was surprised by how careless and rough the process seemed for such a large + delicate plant. Sadly died the following week after two years of ownership.
I went to Afronpunk this weekend and saw Natty Garden selling plants. The customer service and the vibes was great. I would like to shoutout Chris who was very knowledgeable and Well educated about all of the plants displayed on the table and throughout the event. I look forward to visiting the shop again. I would definitely recommend anyone to visit the shop. Thank you
This place is so expensive for the quality, prices are very random, seemingly decided at check out sometimes. Now I m on google reading reviews - the owners responses to reviews make me regret giving this place business!
Nice people and a lovely plant selection, but their online order system seems a bit disorganized I placed an order for pickup a few weeks ago, never heard anything after it was confirmed, then got a call a few days ago asking if I was available to receive the delivery. I said i would pick it up, and when I went to do that today, they did not have my purchases ready to pick up, and half the items were out of stock. Until they work out their system, probably best to just keep this an in-person shopping experience.
Lots of stuff but super r-e-l-a-x-e-d. On a Saturday 45 minutes to pay. Maybe my own fault. Also no advice for plants. Go look yourself.
One would think that going to a place called Natty Garden on a sunny spring morning is going to be an uplifting experience...or at least a pleasant one. Nope! My gripe is ONLY with customer service! The selection of plants and all things garden related is great, and prices are very reasonable. Yesterday morning I went to this store purchased two items and left only to notice that I had purchased charcoal when I needed activated charcoal...so I went back to return it. I approached the register with the item I had just purchased 10 min earlier. There were two employees there: the woman was on speaker phone being chewed out by her boss who had rung me up earlier. Jay was on the other register. I asked to return an item for refund. The woman asked Jay to take care of me. Hold on a second, man he says. So I wait, hearing the uncomfortable phone conversation, waiting for Jay to finsish sorting through label stickers. Another phone line starts ringing. One second man Jay says again to me as he goes to answer the phone. He finished the call, came back to the register, and starts sorting labels again. I say Cmon dude can I get this item refunded to my debit card please? He answers in an agitated loud voice Shes gonna do it for you, and dont call me dude. Do I look like a dude to you man? She was outside now but still on the phone. I apologized and asked him not to call me man since he took offense to my calling him dude. He threw down what was in his hands and said he wasnt gonna help me as he stormed out of the store leaving me in the store alone. I went out and asked the woman to please refund my card. Jay comes around the corner with another employee YELLING at me to go back inside and this guy will help you! 3rd employee is very competent and friendly and finally after ten minutes of this nonsense I am able to get refunded and leave. Going to the Natty garden center yesterday left me wishing I never did! Ive been a customer for several years and have had other similar experiences there but this is the final straw for me!! I meant no disrespect by calling Jay dude just like Im sure he means no disrespect when he calls people man. But if he is so sensitive about this, he should NOT refer to customers by anything but their first name and/or he should not work with cusromers at all in my opinion. *update* I went and read other one star reviews and the owners replies...all I can say to the owner is you are in the wrong line of work.
Rude service, sketchy receipt (custom item for everything), same-day delivery took 3 days and 8 calls to sort out (and driver was upset we didnt come down at the first ring... lol...) Avoid, unless youre buying in-store, maybe
Overpriced with nonexistent staff.
Its very beautiful I had to run out of there I wanted to pick up every plant and very affordable too
Plants are good, price is good, but the plants are small.
Great selection. Local garden center.
The best garden nursery in Brooklyn. Centrally located, wide selection of vegetable plants, flowers, and seeds. Great presentation, well organized, making it easy to shop. They have all the garden accessories you could possibly need. Staff is professional and knowledgeable and most importantly, their prices are very affordable. Will go no where else!!
The pet shop is very clean ! Customer service is superb. The cats in the are very friendly and has the natural grown animal wet, dry, and frozen foods
Good selection, reasonable prices. But every plant we ve gotten from them (at least 5+) has been absolutely infested with fungus gnats. And they ve now spread to our other plants. Like an OUTRAGEOUS amount of fungus gnats
Rude staff and uninterested in selling. Go elsewhere.
Just witnessed the person working the cash register berating and belittling someone who works (for him? With him?). Inappropriate and unprofessional to do in front of customers (or, in my opinion, at all). Lots of other places to buy plants!
I bought an indoor house plant here and it had centipedes.
The young man who helped me last time has great advice. You could tell he is passionate about his job and was happy to help me begin my plant mom journey (lol). If you need expert recommendations, I highly suggest this neighborhood shop. They have everything!
I love NG. Perfect spot for my garden supplies.
Very centrally located to buy plants and garden supplies for the many small gardens in the area. Many brownstones have front and rear gardens that can benefit from this conveniently located garden supply and nursery.
Stop in with a friend to check them out. I about to go back to pickup for my herbs garden. Great location but it s difficult for parking.
I read some reviews of this place to make sure they didnt have a history of bugs or pests in their plants, and was initially a little turned off by some of the reviews. I dont know what the fuss was about. Ive been here close to a handful of times and I really like the place. They carry good products at a price that makes sense given the convenience of the location. They have some great plants, admittedly not cheap, but in mostly great care from what Ive seen. And I can tell their inventory isnt old, because theyve recently sold out of my preferred potting soil and were able to let me know more was coming in the coming days.
A very handy neighborhood gardening store.
Selection is nice, but some sections won t show prices (which mostly are quite expensive). Home Depot gave much better prices
Good selection of plants, unfortunately everything is overpriced and the staff is horribly rude and unhelpful. I have visited this place several times and would let past rudeness slide marking it up to maybe that person was having a stressful day, however, during my most recent visit an employee went out of their way to shame my wife and I for wearing a mask while inside the building. This place is so convenient for this neighborhood, but that convenience is outweighed by their hostility.
Literally heaven on earth. Super affordable, crazy nice staff, and an absolute rainforest of plants. I have to fight the urge to buy the whole store every time.
Good collection of plans and Potting materials
They have many things there trees shrubs plants flower plants good prices. You dont have to shop in a place you look at it when it started small at one corner then it grew to another corner and their business is doing well
Went to this location on Friday at 6:30p to have two small plants re-potted. The gentleman working the counter was incredibly unfriendly, made no eye contact and refused to pot the plant. He stated he had too much going on - all the while yelling at, presumably, his daughter who was under his chair. I asked if there was any way he could look at the orchid and cactus I brought in. He ignored my questions and bluntly replied to come back the following day. Noted. I returned the following day with the same plants and his attitude was again dismissive and rude. At this point, he once again refused to re-pot the plants I brought in stating he did not have the appropriate soil. Had he taken a moment to look up during the first encounter, he could have prevented me making two wasted trips to this location. I still purchased some pots and a couple plants despite his trash service but it will be the last purchase I ever make at this nursery. Normally staff here is friendly, but if you see a short brother with locs and a daughter behind the counter, expect to receive poor service.
Great
Fantastic experience
The store hours open on 9am on Sundays. I came on a Sunday at 10:30am and the store was closed. One employee was there and said someone else would be there in 10min. After waiting 20min in the cold, I gave up to look for a more punctual shop
Small, but convenient garden center with dirt, rocks, planters, and plants. Annuals and perennials are available in the summer, as well as some veggies too. Nice staff! Cash or card accepted.
Staff are super knowledgeable, the store carries a wide variety of healthy indoor/tropical plants and everything you need to take care of them. Good prices too!
Great experience. Beautiful plants and great seeds.
Knowledgeable staff and nice variety of plants! We ve been to many plant nurseries and stores but whatever we bought here last and still living & thriving in our apartment while the others die out no matter how much I care.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
In trying to furnish my exs/kids apartment before they went on a week long vacation, I ordered some gorgeous looking plants from the nicely designed website five days ago. After three delivery dates came and went with no fulfillment, I was told that the plants are out of stock. The person/delivery person on the phone during my final attempt at finding out where my delivery was, understandably, was busy helping other customers, and taking other orders, and wasnt able to give me his undivided attention. There was no attempt at rectification, or later scheduled delivery, was just told that the order would be cancelled, and the call ended. Not the service one hopes for in a flower/garden shop, alas. That s capitalism, I guess.
This place is amazing. If you need anything for plants or gardening. This is ur first and last stop!
Absolutely adorable locally owned garden center. The employees were super friendly and the variety of vegetables and herbs available was truly delightful. Will definitely be shopping here again!
Beautiful plants and fair prices. Fast delivery as well and very friendly employees. Highly recommend!
Friendly, helpful, affordable. I d recommend stopping by. More of an outdoor selection, but some good gems inside.
Shabby plants the Main worker whom we asked .when did they open ? He Repiled ,oh around ten am or so .. we said but its after ten now ... ( 3 ppl .waitng ) I will definitely not return ... I believe in punctual people.
I came here around 9:20am, closed. Google says it open 9-17. Tried to contacted them, no body picked up calls. I waited and saw a staff was working, so I asked him when it would be open. Answered me 10am. Well, now is 10:20am, 10 people and 2 dogs are still waiting, and nobody knows what time it will open. Staff doesn t open the door or provide any shades for us. Literally standing under the sunlight and getting burned for 1hour.
Great plant selections and advice from owner. Reasonable prices. Handicap accessible.
Fresh edible at peak. And all the supplies you will need. He can special order as well.
This is the best nursery on dean st & Washington Avenue. Everyone who works here has very keen knowledge & prices are awesome bring your family and friends to see the variety of plants and soil & pot holders they have you won t be disappointed. Self sufficient of growing your own food or just to have a positive aura of plants that help you breathe better Natty Gardens selections are always great to see as well as to own for yourself I know I ain t disappointed in the variety they have . Have a blessed day and many blessings to natty garden
Best local shop for plants and planting supplies.
Over the years, Ive purchased at least twenty plants but will most likely not be returning! This is a black owned shop, but maybe not so much black operated or cultured. Ive noticed a decrease in black staff over the years. I walked into the Washington Ave location today with a friend to purchase a few houseplants. Due to lack of line management, there was some confusion amongst customers on who had the right to approach the counter to pay. It was agreed that I would go first, as I was on the correct side of the store (near the pots). I requested that my plant be repotted in a planter I also purchased there. The cashier (brunette in overalls) said she could do it after assisting the next two customers. I let her know I would wait outside, so to not take up space. I watched as she paraded two WHITE customers around the entire store (inside and outside), walking past me several times with no acknowledgement or status check of my plant. Instead, I asked the friendly black staff member (short guy with locs) to let me know the hold-up. He said she will be just a second, to which I replied she has ONE MINUTE. He chuckled and then let her know I was still awaiting the repotted plant Id just purchased. She appeared to have remember but walked back inside the store, placed both hands in her pockets and started to assist another customer (unprompted). When the black staff realized how frazzled I had gotten, one of them decided to pot the plant for me. As a CUSTOMER, I expect a certain level of service and professionalism. As a black man shopping in a black owned business, i expect a level of care, service and comfort that is usually not always afforded to black people in non-black owned spaces. Youre not going to receive that a Natty Garden, simply because the staff does not embody the culture or have any understanding of it. There are other black owned plant nurseries I will continue to support so im putting Natty on the shelf for a while, if not permanently.
Great hospitality, beautiful plants. Reasonable prices. This is were Ill get my plants from now on.
They had a lot of nice plants and the team was helpful.
Mothers Day was around the corner and I had no idea how to pick flowers for the one I love. A friendly and helpful clerk name David was their to solve all my problems. He helped me picked out the most beautiful flowers I ever lays eyes on. Thank you for saving my Mothers Day! Definitely will come back again because of his service.
brought some herds plants and 1 Jasmine plant all die except 5 of the pepper trees, followed all instructions but their dead, call and their saying no replacement for the plants, well never again $40 down the drain for herds, also please note grown it on a small farm so it dont have anything to do with I dont know how to care for plants because my house is full of plants
The staff are great and very informative. I will return a lot because they have a wide selection of plants and the things that you need to do gardening.
Great place
Friendly staff, nice variety of plants.
staff is ill informed and have very little selection. if looking for basic hydroponic supplies this is not the place. i repeat this is a garden center not a hydro store
A great plant store, wide selection, small business, kind staff. Not much more you can ask for. Staff if very well informed and happy to help you. They have seasonal items (ex Christmas trees in winter).
I love this place! Amazing nursery for large plants. Very happy with my birds of paradise
Lots of options for common plants. Came in for potting mix and orchid bark. Surprised to see all the pests preventions and will definitely come back for emergency infestations.
Beautiful selection, really good prices, and the staff was incredibly helpful.
Although there was one employee in the entire store with multiple customers, customer service was top notch!
friendly and reasonably priced
The owner of this place is so rude and dismissive. I ve been supporting him for years and have always been taken aback by how rude he is to me and other women I ve witnessed. I literally never leave reviews but I m tired of trying to support this Black-owned biz and get treated like trash. That s the last he ll see of my Black dollar. Enough is enough! Ugh
I cannot keep plants alive, but the plants I ve gotten from Natty Garden are so healthy and strong that even I have managed to keep them thriving!
Jay is amazing! We got there a few minutes before close and helped us decide on the perfect plant for our space. They re always friendly and helpful at Natty. :)
Pros- I was looking for a snake plant and called ahead to see if they had any in stock. I spoke to a friendly sales person. When I got there at 1:30 pm to purchase, the store had a beautiful selection of plants. Cons- there was one cashier available and no one on the floor. As a result the cashier had to answer inquiries and ring up everyone up. She was really nice but didnt take into consideration that there were several people waiting to pay as she stopped each time to engage in conversation. I over heard the customers behind me say they had questions about a plant but felt like it was too busy to ask. At one point the cashier called out to someone that was their office to ask a question and I couldnt see why they werent helping at the register or at least on the floor. On a Sat when the store is def busy? I was there for close to 30 min just to pay for a plant. Overall, great store but they need to have more staff available at busy times.
Infested plants two of which died within a month and one survived for 6 months
Extremely crowded. Staff werent present or much help. Paid $24 for a small cactus that wasnt tagged, which is now rotting in my kitchen - literally oozing and moldy after 2 weeks. Sad! Recommend the Sill, where I have plants that are thriving for over 2 years! And since I cant respond to the owners reply. I just want to add why I recommend going to another store - where they take more care and warranty plants. Dying after 2 weeks is not because I am filled with hate, its because there was something wrong with the plant, which was my point. Right back at you Natty Garden. Nice example of customer service and love for the community.
They have a beautiful arrangement of plants and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Imen!
I always get amazing items & plant babies from here. Staff is super nice and informative.
Keeping the culture going, by greening the earth. Best plants for the best prices. Been to the Bed Stuy location 10 times. Entitled hipster free location! Selassie eye!
I love all my plants from Natty! Great quality and good prices.
Nice shop! Visited the Bed-Stuy location for the first time. A little busy but the staff was nice and the prices are very reasonable. I would absolutely go back. Happy to support a Black Owned Business especially during these times!!
Friendly staff large selection, ok prices, but perhaps Im spoiled by home depot
Great selection of Indoor plants, outdoor plants and edible veggies & herbs, pots, soil, fertilizer etc... Very freindly helpful staff. Go here and treat yourself to another houseplant.
Fantastic garden store. A lot of variety of plants & flowers. Slightly pricey but definitely worth it. High quality stuff.
OK RECIEVED WHAT I NEEDED NICE PRICE.
Awesome garden store. Great staff very helpful.
Great and affordable
Has everything you could need in planting/gardening! I don t get all the negative reviews regarding employees, they were professional and helpful in my experience. Happy to support a black business as well. Would definitely recommend.
I ve been to natty garden twice. The first time was to get a new pot for my jade plant, and the second time I purchased a string of pearls. They are on the expensive side of things, you can find the exact same pots they have elsewhere for less. Also my string of pearls started to rot at the root. I have mixed feelings about the energy in the place. The lady who helped me was nice, but I won t be going back. You can find same plants elsewhere for less.
Nice/friendly staff. Some of the plants are overpriced.
No one particularly helpful or knowledgable. Their house plants looked ignored and dusty.
Local garden & outdoor supply. They keep a nice inventory of pots, soil & have great selection of indoor & outdoor plants & trees.
Great selection of plants and flowers, horrible customer service.
Pros: massive selection of plants Cons: woman behind counter said she thinks face masks are unnecessary and part of covid hysteria do not require customers to wear a mask indoors (there is no way to social distance) sold many plants with root rot mildly overpriced Kinda disappointed. Had a much better experience at Do it Best on Fulton, though I d much rather support local businesses than chain stores.
Prices are a lil high
Decent experience. Workers could be a little better informed on basic plant care but they have a nice healthy variety of plants
Natty garden is a like entering an enchanted place. Natty is the place for unique planters. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Unfriendly staff.
Called to check if they had what I wanted, twice, waited in line to get inside and big surprise oh oh we just had it.. No plant.
A Brooklyn treasure. Very good customer service even when busy.
The employees were kind and extremely helpful. The indoor and outdoor spaces each have a wonderful selection of plants. The prices seemed a tad bit high, but you get what you pay for, and our plants are doing extremely well!
The employees were very friendly and helpful! However, when I went all the plants looked like they were dying so there was a very limited range of healthy looking plants. I bought a (what seemed like) a very healthy neon Pothos, and when I got home I decovered a few mealybugs and a few fungus gnats. Very disappointed with that.
Ive been coming here for two years and have had very little problems until recently. I get inventory issues from Covid but on top of low inventory that doesnt seem to ever replenish the staff has been unhelpful answering basic questions. Ive also seen either the owner or other staff members yelling at workers on the floor during store hours multiple times and its made made me uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Even the staff were visibly upset. Im sure because Ive left a one star review Ill be seen as a hater by the owner who is only replying to one star reviews but I really gave this place multiple chances and want to keep being a patron, especially to a black owned business, but I cant if theres no inventory and customers dont feel welcomed. If youre looking for basic pots/fertilizers youre better off hitting up a hardware store in the area. P.S. to the Owner who is responding (and I cant reply to directly) 1. If youre responding to me then youre not being the bigger person you think you are. All your responses to complaints here are rude to paying customers. 2. Im not white.
I ve been coming here for at least 4 years and never had a problem with the plants or the workers. Yes it may be a little pricey compared to Home Depot or Lowe s , however you are getting better quality and well cared for plants. My daughter and I went in to purchase a plant but came out with 4 plants and a pot. Steven was extremely helpful granted it was a Saturday afternoon and busy. He was knowledgeable about the plants and I look forward to returning for my next plant.
Really nice place. I found a sweet pot and some soil I needed. Great, friendly service.
I used to love this place but the last two times I went I noticed that more than half the plants were in need of serious TLC, drying off, wilting, just dull and unhealthy looking. So much so that I almost bought a couple just to revive them. Please please care more about the plants, I would buy so much more if the stock was in good condition.
I had a horrible experience here today. Unfortunately I had to return everything and leave. I wanted the items, but the way I was handled and overcharged and then made to seem as though it was an honest mistake of miscommunication when the attendant clearly seemed rushed and unfocused. I will never return and don t suggest anyone to purchase here. I ve had better experiences at Home Depot at least you don t expect anything better there.
Beautiful selection of plants , including some exotic ones. Friendly staff
Thank you to Riv and Natty Garden! The music is great, the plant & pot selections are awesome, and the folks are genuinely kind. I came in with 4 plants for re-potting and 1 sick plant who needed new soil. I am new to the #plantmom life, so visiting a plant shop could have been really intimidating. Riv was patient, explained how to select new pots, and took care of all my plant babies! I ll definitely be back in the future. Do not be dismayed by negative reviews. We are in the midst of a global pandemic; we are all plugging along one day at a time. A little bit of grace goes a long way.
Very Helpful and beautiful plants
Stephen at Natty Garden blessed us with the best plant buying experience we could have imagined! Not only did he share his extensive expertise on the variety of the plants they carry, but he went above and beyond in referencing photos of my home to curate a selection of houseplants best suited to the apartment s temperature and proximity to sunlight. He was extremely mindful of our taste while prioritizing the well-being of the plant life. Do yourself a favor and come to this location for top-notch customer care. Support your local plant shop and black-owned business!
Thank you Riv for saving our plants!
Wonderful service, low prices, diverse choices! Everything you want in a great garden center.
Amazingly wonderful garden center with helpful staff and lovely fresh Christmas trees at the holiday season.
Very kind and knowledgeable staff. Well priced and happy plants!
This store is a gem! Beautiful plants with consistent variety and the staff members are nothing but knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. Way more reasonably priced than many of the other neighboring plant shops, too.
Great selection of plants and garden accessories.
Not very helpful as a matter of fact the only person there didnt budge to ask if they could be of assistance and when I asked him he said look around there might be something hanging about that. Nice but where are those plants?? NO ASSISTANCE.. and this is your answer Im sure if it was after 7 you would have told me you were closed I walked around outside for 20 min before I even came inside and walked around for another 20 asked for your assistance twice the baby wasnt an issue you were reading. Smh....if I could give you no stars I would..but no worries this is why you cant support your local business..attitude is everything in a customer service business...I agree with most...YOUR ATTITUDE WILL DRIVE MORE BUSINESS AWAY.
I love this place. They have organic soils and amendments, a wide array of plants, containers, soils, accessories etc. If you want a place where you can find your plants in peace without a high pressure sales person on you, this is the place. Personally I dont like high pressure sales, so if I have a question, I ask it-- and the staff is pretty knowledgeable.
Great plant selection! Lots of cool pots and what not. Unfriendly staff though unfortunately :( Every time I come in the person working there has been rude and unhelpful. Don t think I m going to buy plants here anymore.
Great selection awesome prices and loved the healtiness of the plant
Great for seedlings, compost, potting soil, indoor plants and all sorts of pots. Local, affordable and worth a visit.
Nice place with awesome customer service. Highly recommend and I plan to return for future plant needs.
Love this place.
Nice place with a good selection of plants, they are friendly and the prices are reasonable consisting the condition of their plants, unlike home depot where the plants are about to kick the bucket. Youll find only specimens of exemplary health here, definetly a place to check out of your a fan of growing anything in the ground
First day of Sunday of spring and they have one staff member on. Good tunes at least. (More staff came on later but we waited about 30 mins to be served. )
My favorite local business!
Beautiful place , have bought from there before.
Best local nursery!
Great selection, fair prices, knowledgeable staff
Great place to work and shop for all your gardening needs.
Great garden store with a super knowledgeable staff and ample selection. They also offer a reporting service to help you move plants into a bigger living space, if you want to not deal with the stress yourself. Ask the staff any questions you might have, and check here for your pots and other gardening sundries. Highly recommended.
Nice neighbourhood garden centre
The proprietor is one of the most courteous person you can find. Theres a variety of everything you need in plants and planting both indoor and outdoor.
Lots of variety of plants and labeled. The snake plant I bought there was healthy and is continuing to thrive, will definitely go back for more plants.
Exceptional plants and help
Recommendation
surprisingly unhelpful and unknowable staff. I went there for informed opinions I couldnt get online and was sorely dissapointed
This is my go-to nursery in Brooklyn. The folks are knowledgeable, patient, and willing to teach a bit. Amazing selection of plants, air plants, pots, soil, fertilizers, and almost every single plant need. Support this local business before going to a box store!
Great selection
Lovely local garden center. They will lend a wheelbarrow if you need to transport a large plant home. They also offer a reporting service if you need it- definitely worth it to go here over a big box home improvement store!
Helpful and friendly service!
Good shop. Good plants, but I think the guy has pretty low tolerance for people who dont know what they want and havent done their research... unless youre a cute girl that is . Will definitely still shop here, but you definitely feel a bit shamed for being a customer that needs a bit of hand holding.
Absolutely love this place! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they have a huge range of unique (& affordable) indoor and outdoor varieties.
Thoughtful staff, beautiful plants and great prices. Hands down my favorite plant shop around town.
Im addicted to Natty Garden. I can walk to their Prospect Hts location but often drive to the new Bed-Stuy store, where parking isnt so difficult. I totally dig the low key, non-intimidating vibe. The staff is not pushy. If you ask for help they give it. The prices are fair and their inventory excellent. I really love the repotting service... a small price to pay to not have a ruined plant and a mess at home. So glad they are in the neighborhood.
Last year I bought a bunch of plants from Natty Garden (for only a buck a piece) and they grew into huge plants! Ill def be coming back again this spring.
Lovely selections great prices
The plant we bought was only cuttings recently put in the soil. Most had not even sent out roots yet. Dont be decieved by the friendly looking woman working there, she is actually quite rude!
One of the best and most affordable plant stores around. None of this over-priced gentrified hipster stuff you see popping up in every other shope now. The employees are super nice and very helpful. Plus they have a ton of rocks, food, and soil to choose from.
It s nearly 10am and the place is locked up with no answer when called. Update your hours!
Not very friendly. Couldn t be bothered to help. Huge line because they only had one person at the register even though there were plenty of people working and they could have opened another register. Got the plant I wanted but won t be back for additional purchases.
Good place for gardening and plant supplies as well as plants.
Good choices. Need more workers
Nice plants !
Always a good experience every time I visit. I had a specific order so I called ahead. Not surprised, they had everything that I needed. Service is always respectful and knowledgable good business. KIRT.
I want to support neighborhood businesses but Natty Garden has been consistently unfriendly over the course of many years (Im a neighbor and resident of Prospect Park for more than 15 years) and I wont make the same mistake of supporting this store again. Specifically, the staff is rude, unhelpful and short. Its a shame that its so difficult to be even mildly pleasant to your own neighbors who would like nothing more than to see you succeed.
Nice Place
Ive gone here several times and each time Im hoping to be proven wrong. But I have now had consistent experience with unhelpful and seemingly uninterested staff. Such a cute little garden center I hope they change their vibe.
I visited yesterday on a whim and was blown away by how kind everyone was, thank you for answering all my questions! I left with a beautiful pothos and I ll definitely be back again. My only suggestion is to label pet-toxic/pet-friendly plants if possible since it s a serious concern for so many people, turns out my plant is poison so I ll have to keep it up high! But other than that I had a great experience and tweeted about it so hopefully sent some new customers your way.
Friendly service! Great knowledge of houseplants.
A good place to buy some flowers
I ve come here for most of the plants in my house or even have dropped by to ask for pointers on keeping my plants healthy. The assortment of foliage and soil there are bound to have something of your liking. The staff there are very patient and understanding of those with questions or even people that come by with loud children. Always cool and calm at this place. I love it.
Love this place
Super helpful staff, and very laid back vibe!
Great selection and super helpful staff :)
Varied and knowledgeable neighborhood plant store but sometimes hard to get attention of the staff here.
Hi. I got a good service in a pleasant manner. Definitely a place I would return to. Come visit.
Good selection of indoor and outdoor plants despite the small store size. My go to garden supply shop in the area. Wish they were open until 8pm in the spring/summer months for outdoor planting needs. I can never seem to make it before the 7pm closing.
Quite pricey but a surprisingly broad selection. Weve had many plants die from here, hence the 3 stars.
Great variety of plants and prices!
Always knowledgeable and friendly staff. Good selection and reasonable prices.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff with a quality selection of all types of indoor and outdoor plants, herbs, and flours. Solid selection of fertilizers and soils as well.
Friendly service and nice selection of plants and plant related accessories. Pricing seemed reasonable.
Rude... The place is very nice, I never expected that hostility though. Came in to check for something, the person asked me to send an email for that question, which I did 2 months ago and never got a reply. I usually come to places with the best intentions and expect to be treated with just a tiny bit of respect and attention. Will find another place.
Great Brooklyn plant store
Great selection and customer service!
Awesome plant shop with great prices for NYC! Ill be back for sure.
Beautiful selection but a bit overpriced.
Names of plants
Has a good selection of plants and supplies, good for urban gardens. If you need larger scale landscaping you will need to look elsewhere.
Great spot to get your garden started
Extremely unhelpful service. The guy wasted my time TWICE by not fully listening to what I wanted. I felt uncomfortable every time I had to address him - he seemed bothered and annoyed - and his suggestions were not aligned with my needs, probably because he never took the time to listen and understand what I want. I gave it a fair chance because I do want to support a local business but this place needs to learn some customer service if they plan on staying in business. Im going somewhere else.
Overpriced for some flowers that are not well taken care of
Great local place to get indoor/outdoor plants that will grow well in BK: knowledgeable and helpful staff
Friendly.
Good prices
I love this place because in the summer they are playing reggae loud in the a.m. and because they have unusual plant varieties if you know where to look. The owner is sweet and has great advice and a nice manner. A good spot in the neighborhood.
Plants are more expensive than those from say, Home Depot or a hardware store like Ace but they have a cool selection and very knowledgable staff. Also sell pots and other bits needed for starting a garden. Would recommend buying unique plants here that you cannot find elsewhere but for succulents and air plants and the like you can find a better deal at larger stores. Overall Cool neighbourhood spot with good service and good vibes!
Good selection for such a small place. The soil prices are also very reasonable. Ill definitely be back.
Specifically walked 20 mins here just to have the shop closed at 6pm. Both Google maps and the website indicate open until 7pm. Updated hours to 5pm on Google. The review will remain 1 star until someone updates the hours or lets me know what happened today and why I wasted my time.
Nice people there, very friendly and helpful.
