I have used A Cut Above for years, first at our home in New Berlin and for the past 10 years in our Brookfield home. They are hands down one of, if not the, most professional, honest and responsive organization I have ever worked with. They have nothing but 5 star reviews for a reason. You have just found the best tree service in SE Wisconsin. Your search is done.
Mike from A Cut Above has been pruning or removing trees in our oak woods for the last 12 years or so. Mike is always very knowledgeable, conscientious, prompt and leaves the site in good shape. As usual, Mike and crew did an exemplary job, but this time they were pushed to finish before the impending snow storms. After finishing up the bulk of the project as night was falling, there was one smaller tree left to be done. Early the next morning, even during a whiteout snowstorm Mike was here, climbed the tree, finished the pruning, and cleaned up before leaving.
These guys are the best! We had a very large tree that needed to be taken down fairly quickly; it was a messy and dangerous job but Mike and Tom were amazing. They were so considerate of both our yard and our neighbor's yard; it was amazing to watch them in action! Extremely professional, and it was clear they knew exactly what needed to be done; took the time to do it well! We were so pleased with the end result, and will recommend them to anyone!
Recently reached out to a number of tree services for some tree trimming/tree removal on our property. Mike and team were incredibly easy to work with, were able to accommodate us on timing and price and not only started the work quickly, came out on a Sunday to get started and finished in a couple days. They took considerable care for the lawn/property and were a pleasure to work with. Will be recommending them to anyone who asks. Thanks for the great service!

We are so thankful to have been referred to A Cut Above. We had a large walnut tree split - leaving half hanging over our house and the other half supported by a neighboring tree. It was very difficult to get anyone to take down this tree, due to the size of the tree and the danger of the job, but Mike and his team took care of it for us carefully and swiftly. They also took care to lay down mats so as not to destroy our lawn, and went above and beyond to make sure the job went off without any problems. We are really thankful they saved us from having this tree fall into our house! UPDATE: July 2023 - Apparently we have the WORST LUCK EVER because we had another emergency tree situation. Mike came the same day to assess the situation (while everyone else could not come until later in the week), and shuffled his schedule to get the tree removed for us THAT DAY before it crushed a shed and took down communication lines completely. We feel like Mike is our tree angel. :-). SO GRATEFUL!!
My husband used this service about 10 years ago to trim our large silver maple. It was about time for another trim. We had Mike come out to give us an estimate back in January and were finally able to pull the trigger this week. Mike was very gracious and honored his original quote. I reached out Saturday, he promptly got back to me Sunday and we were on the books! While we had a bit of a scheduling issue with work and being able to be home, Mike was incredibly patient and understanding with us and we cannot say how appreciative we are of his ability to work with us and be flexible! He and his teammate came out and immediately got to work! We have a more difficult tree: hard location, poor drop zone, and just a huge tree. But it was like nothing to Mike and his teammate! They were amazing! Took care not to damage our lawn or anything on our patio. And they made very quick work of our tree. Mike knew exactly what needed to be done and his knowledge was impressive. And after their cleanup, it was like they were never even there! I could go on and on! Just and overall amazing experience and I will recommend Mike and his company every time!
We had a tree emergency over the weekend with a large tree that split in the middle hanging over our garage. I’m not from the area and felt lost on who to call so I started going down the list. Multiple companies came out to quote the removal and left us feeling very uneasy. Mike from A Cut Above came out and put our minds at ease. He was very kind and explained everything they would do. He was the first one to sound like a professional and I knew it would be done right and safely. They were able to fit us in and started right away. They did an amazing job and I’m so thankful for them!
We were considering having multiple trees removed. They recommended trimming some trees instead of removal and we are very happy with the end result. We highly recommend them if you need tree removal or trimming.

Mike is very knowledgeable and likes to pass along his knowledge to the homeowner giving his best recommendations and things for the homeowner to be on the lookout for. Free estimate and quick scheduling once accepted. He and his crew takes great care and pride in making sure your trees look their best and your yard is completely clear of debris when they are done. Highly recommended.
Hired them to take down a tree in my yard. Really good experience. Showed up when they said they would, safely took down the tree respecting the rest of the property, cleaned up when they left. Good customer service and very responsive to questions as well. Cant ask for more than that. Highly recommended!
Mike is clearly the best. He removed a couple of trees in my yard and several very large ones in neighboring yards. He and his crew leave the area better than they found it and take more than enough time to explain what they will do and how they will do it. As I watched him remove a very large tree right next to my neighbors house he even took the time to blow wood chips and dust off the roof and from the gutters. That pretty much sums up their attention to details. This is your tree guy.
These guys took very good care of us and resolved a massive tree issue in a pinch. You cannot go wrong with A Cut Above. We had them out last year to trim back our Apple Tree., from the routine to the emergency this company lives up to its name!
I had a tree crack up the trunk which looked like it might break and fall on my house. I called Mike McLaughlin at A Cut Above Tree Service based upon his 5 star review. You can never be sure these reviews are always legit, but they all turned out to be true. I called on a Saturday and he responded with a call in a couple of minutes. He showed up at my doorstep within hours. He then came the next day, a Sunday with his team mate and took care of the bad tree and three other dead trees encroaching my house. He took the time to cut and stack all the wood perfectly and clean up was perfect also. He is a nice guy who is easy to talk with. Our communication was xcellent. I would heartily recommend his service.
Mike came out and gave us a vary competitive bid for removing 17 spruce trees. He said he could do the job that same day and did a great job. They cleaned up after the first day and returned to grind stumps the next day. I will use them again and highly recommend them to others.
Emergency tree removal due to a bad storm is never something you want to deal with. Luckily, Mike and his crew were prompt, professional and educated us through the entire process of the removal, all done same day as the estimate. It helps to know when you ask for an estimate and request a service as to why things are being done a certain way, and this helps differentiate them from the other guys.
The estimate provided was free and timely. After agreeing to the terms of the contract, the work was completed much sooner than expected. In addition to completing the work I had requested, they also took the initiative to remove some tree branches that were growing over the fence from my neighbors backyard, at no additional cost. Everything was cleaned up as though they were never there.
A Cut Above did a fantastic job on our project. The crew was extremely courteous and conscientious. The cleaned all of the tree limbs and branches from their work as well as others that were in the area I hadn t taken care of yet. Extremely satisfied.
