Broke multiple sprinklers when marked. Sprayed weeds when winds were extremely high, and killed off parts of yard and plants as a result. I have spent around $1000 just to create more issues and work for myself.
I had used John's in the past few years and had positive experiences with their work on my underground irrigation and well. But...the last repair 3 years ago was $500 more than estimate quoted. I realize it was an estimate but to be over 70% higher was shocking. When I called to question the cost, I just got the run around. On top of cost, I am now having to have all the pipe replaced because of cheap materials they used. All the pipe cracked and other professionals that came to look at it could not believe what shoddy work they did. Never again!
Editing my review. These folks went above and beyond to get in touch with me outside of responding to my review to make things right. I am just overall frustrated with multiple companies and these are the first guys to show they genuinely care. They didn’t hesitate to admit there was an oopsie then work with me on a resolution. I appreciate that in a company we put a lot of trust in to get big projects done. Submitted the Contact Us form on their website last Aug, have been having trouble finding a landscaper who won’t ghost me like 5 others have. Response was Johns was booking into last fall/this spring and there was no guarantee on timing someone could meet with me for a quote. I was fine with that, simply asked to be added to the list to be contacted. Again was told there was no guarantee on timing, that was the only response I ever received. No offer to at least get me scheduled, no confirmation I’d been placed on the list to be scheduled, nothing, no one has ever called. Even if it was in Aug to book an appt for this May, I would have been 100% on board with that, at least I would have been placed in line. Was left pretty frustrated, I know you guys are busy but I’m so tired of trying to chase companies around so I didn’t even bother trying to call them to follow up. :( In fact it’s the only reason I’m leaving a review this late, I’m on Google now STILL trying to find a company and I thought maybe you guys should know.
Hired them to hydroseed my yard. They put down the seed and it never grew. They still expected payment in full! I will never use them again. I did have you do other landscaping items for my house which turned out well. The main reason for calling you was to get a lawn. You tried to charge me more for than the bid even when the hydroseed never came in! Unbelievable that you would leave a customers lawn in the pictured condition.
Great crew. Guys came in and took care of replacing valves, moving boxes, and fixing up my sprinkler system the right way from the janky previous home owner edition. Great work would recommend.
John's employees are the best. Will put the project together and was great to work with. We needed a company that would refresh our 22yr old landscape. They removed the existing rocks and replaced with new rocks. Built up the slope with retaining blocks. The project leader Kevin was professional and pleasant, he made certain that the project was completed on time and the outcome was spectacular in our opinion. I would recommend this company to anyone needing quality and professional services.
I have been a customer of John's Home and Yard Service for 2 Years now and I have been very happy with their service. Several times, I've forgotten to kennel my dog during a day where they come out and they have always handled it very kindly and professionally. The weed control, fertilization, and aeration have been effective at helping maintaining my lawn and making it look great. I definitely recommend!
Horrible service for tree and shrub trimming as well as sprinkler repair. The 2 trimming guys had no idea what they were doing. They butchered my shrubs and left the trimmings in the shrubs as well as several dead branches that I asked them to cut off. The branches they actually trimmed were randomly cut in the center instead of back to the trunk. When asked to remove the dead branches off my apple tree that has fire blight, they said they were not qualified @ $86 an hour. This cost me $510. When I complained and had them come back they charged me an additional $226.10. I have never paid over $250 for twice as much work. My neighbor saw their and unfortunately hired them. She was just as unhappy and they also cut in to her drip system. The sprinkler repair was just as bad if not worse. I asked them to align some rotary heads and replace any popup heads that were needed, to make adjustments to compensate for whatever brown grass they saw. The 2 rotary heads I specifically asked them to align weren't done but they did replace and charge me for several rotary heads that were working well and I did not authorize. Not only did they not correct for all the brown grass, I now have several new ares that are not getting water and the grass is dying. They also put in an addition rotary head were there was no problem and there is an underground leak that is so bad that I had to turn off the water to the entire sprinkler system. There are also 2 popup heads that have some kind of break in them and a third that appears plugged. When calling them today, at 652-8985, the call says it can not go through.

A couple years ago I had them come over for fall clean up. The kids and I have been swamped this month. I called and they immediately added me to their fall clean up list. They trim everything, mow, and clean up all the leaves. Totally worth it.
Johns H&YS never ceases to over deliver and charge a MORE than fair price. My neighbors on all sides use their services. Their people are always polite, engaged and anxious to deliver. I have contacted Matt several times to sing the praises of their people, even saying whatever you do, dont do anything to loose this guy, he is unbelievable. Everyone who I have recommended them to has thanked me. Call them, hire them, you will NOT be disappointed.

Matt Is a very knowledgeable owner and has done lawns basically his entire life. He does above quality work and expects his employees do professional grade lawncare. These very professional men went out of their way to get my car out of a snow bank not once but TWICE!! They went way above and beyond to help me. They could have just drove off but they didn t! I was in a rental car that had bald tires. It is a hybrid so it sucks in the snow. It sits really low to the ground. Thank you so much for being there for me when I needed help. You are so awesome! It is sometimes hard to find good people behind a business. Johns Home and Yard service has excellent people working hard and doing an outstanding job. They have fixed the vinyl fence (two doors), reinforced our rotting deck, and they take care of the spring and fall sprinkler maintenance. Thank you guys for taking the time to do a quality job and not rushing through it just to get it done. You are always professional and polite. Your hard word is appreciated.

Ive had Johns home and yard come by to fix multiple sprinkler heads, remove and replace some lines, move heads, and do our startup and shut down. There has NEVER been a negative or unpleasant visit. Every single person that comes is friendly, knowledgeable, takes the time to show me things when I have questions, just an excellent experience all around. These guys and gals are great. They do work on our commercial building and my personal home. They are always very responsive and return our calls. We are getting a new patio poured and have had John s come out on two separate occasions to move either sprinkler lines or sprinkler control boxes. Both times I called and the phone was answered right away. They showed up ten minutes before they were supposed to be here each time. I wanted the same guy to come out the second time because he did such a good job. But, they sent someone else. The second guy was just as good as the first. I would post a picture if I could. It s pretty damn impressive.
John s was contacted yesterday by the Vice President of our HOA re a sprinkler issue in our back yard. A lilac bush was impeding the flow needed to water our grass. A gentleman named James came this morning to trim the bush and make sure water was reaching where needed. James was knowledgeable and professional in his assessment of our situation and did the necessary trimming to our bush. He cleaned up the debris and wanted to make sure we were happy with the results. We are grateful to have our water now going where needed to keep our backyard green. Thank you.

Called to setup an appointment to have sprinklers looked at. Was told to text them and they will schedule an appointment. I texted them my info and 2 days later still no response. What kind of business isnt able to easily schedule appointments? All you have to do is look at what day is available, and then say how about on _______ and then if agreed, you schedule it. With cell phones and the internet, and as a business owner myself, its incredibly simple to always have that capability at any time. Inexcusable this day and age to tell somebody on the phone uh Im not sure when we can get you in, probably next week sometime.
I used Johns Home and Yard Service for my winter sprinkler blowouts today. Scheduling was easy. David arrived on time, was professional, and thorough. I was out of state when dealing with Johns , but they made as simple as if I was there. My parents had reached the age that they could not water their lawn anymore. They install a system to control ditch watering pumps and zones. Problem solved.. Mom says she loves you guys..

I have used Johns Home and Yard Service for a few years to blow out my sprinklers, and to fertilize/weed control. This spring I went to turn on my sprinklers like I always do and I had an issue... I was unsure what happened and after a call, Matt sent out one of his guys to take a look. I was worried that I was going to be stuck with a big bill for something they forgot to do last fall, but they came out, found the issue, and fixed it. They did this while it was raining and with a great attitude. I recommend their service.

They always do a good job. In the winter they are so good about clearing the snow off early so we don t have to drive through it.
Work was done in one day! Very efficient and at a good price. The sprinkler system works very well, no complaints. The system needed extra plumbing work but it didn t seem to be a problem for them to figure out. Making the project stress free for me. Definite plus!!! Would advice and do.
Johs home and Yard service was hired to convertan driop systme manual to elctirc an fix a fountain. They gave no bid but an hourly rate. Teh technician I noticed spent a huge amount on the phone, I assume calling for assistance. There were two faucets. They worked for two days and on the third day the sprinklers and the fountain still were not operable so i asked them to discontinue. My bill with nothing working was over $1,000. I paid % approximately $700 of this bill, not the rest because they fixed nothing. I surveyed other companies who said the bill would be about $400 for two sprinklers etc. My daughter bot a new $40.00 pump for the fountain and it worked. One of the two drip system faucets was connected to an outside outlet that did not have electricity. The technician did not even check that outlet to see if it had electricity. so that was simply fixed. It went to small claims court, I was sick the day of the hearing so could not present my viewpoint. i ended up paying over $1,000 for absolutely nothing and my excellent credit was compromised.
I have been a customer for many years and have always been extremely happy with all their services. Lawn care, tree and shrub trimming, landscaping (building garden boxes to my specifications and always filling them for me with wonderful local compost), snow removal, Christmas lights and even a few times they helped with some odd jobs. Jobs are always completed in a timely manner and on time, even with the epic snow we had this past winter, they kept my drive and walkways open! The staff are always friendly and respectful of property and clients (and our pets). Anytime I call in with a question or requests they are ready and willing to help! A great group of people!!!!
These guys make my life so much easier! We use Johns Lawn Service for fertilizing, shrub trimming, sprinkler service and line blow out, power raking and aeration. Theyve also done a beautiful major landscaping remodel and with their lawn maintenance program our place continues to look beautiful. We also use Johns Lawn for Spring and Fall clean ups. Last year I broke my heal and called up Matt to have snow removed for the season and it was a life saver. Ive signed up again for this winter! But, the very best part about Johns Home and Yard Service is all of the personnel that have worked on our place have been friendly, respectful and knowledgeable.
I just started using the service this summer, but am very happy with the quality work I have seen. I am planning on having them come out next spring and do some quotes for landscaping.

he showed me where my valve was in my house and charged me $65 and I was fine with it. Asked him to make sure everything was working properly he was there for 10 minutes... still fine with it because lady on the phone specifically told me that I would be charged for an hour and if it didnt take as long I would still have the time paid for, so if I needed anything else Id have a credit. Thought great Ill use em for if anything goes wrong or getting blown out later on in the fall. Well needless to say my sprinklers were hitting my front door and I thought oh well things happen. Then I call them to have my sprinklers blown out and they tell me my credit with them cant be used for that.... just a horrible experience all in all. I know things happen but I just felt after everything that they took advantage of me and screwed me over. Ill go elsewhere for my blow out.
I have no idea what the price is yet. But Im ecstatic about the great job done cleaning up our backyard from several years of debris. We just bought this house and clean up in the yard has overwhelmed me. But I was jumping up and down happy to come home from work to see so much done with our yard in just 4 hours!! Will definitely remember you guys!
Some good 5-Star reviews posted. So, heres a 1-Star review. And no, its not easier to write a negative review than a positive review. Negative reviews are much harder because one really has to explain why so negative. I got into a very vocal argument with Johns Home & Yard Service owner, after I expressed disappointment about what I believe was very inferior work, at still a high price. I asked several times that the owner come to my home to see what had been done on a flower-bed preparation project. I said that if he really felt their work was proper, then I would say no more, but just accept it and move on. And then do the work myself. He refused to come to my home to look at the very poor, almost none, flower-bed preparation. He just wanted to argue more. So, thats the reason for my 1-Star review. It was more important to him to win the argument than to determine the truth. Potential customers should really document exactly the agreement before the work is started.

Long story short a window was broken in my wifes car. Johns landscaping was doing a job next door around that time. When I got home and noticed we went through all possibilities and after talking to the neighbor we concluded it was either a random act of violence or an accidental rock shot put from a leaf mower. My wife, alone, went and discussed this with the owner and his staff. She was treated beyond cordial and was met with a willingness to help WHEN NO PROOF OR EVIDENCE WAS OFFERED other then a timeline of possibilities. Without any proof John offered to cover half of a new window. My wife didnt complain or threaten or cajole to get her way. This was offered immediately and without malice. I run my own company and that kind of service to someone who is not your client shows a solid business ethic/character trait and and should be acknowledged. So I am. 5 Stars. And my neighbors yard looks spotless.
I cannot say enough positive after an acre-plus complete sprinkler, landscaping, retaining wall, and large water feature install. Very professional, prompt, and courteous. I cannot recommend enough!
I had a large landscaping project completed at my home by Johns Home and Yard and they did a beautiful job. A huge item when I hire someone is that they show up when they say they will and these guys did. They paid attention to my vision and made it happen. I would certainly call them again for my next project.

Today I had Johns Home and Yard Service come to my house and complete my sprinkler relocation and line reroute for a project in my yard. I know, it doesnt sound like much but 24 hrs ago I didnt even know these guys existed. My landscaping company that I had used for years has suddenly decided not to return my phone calls knowing that I had a deadline to get this work done. I called Johns on a Monday afternoon, spoke to a very nice woman (Tiffany), and had an appointment at 8 am on Tuesday morning. Carl was on time and actually apologized for being late (maybe 3 minutes!!) and off we went looking at the job. Carl was professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He came up with a cleaner solution for the reroute and put his plan in motion. Within 3 hours the trench was dug, lines rerouted, sprinkler heads removed/replaced, back filled, and verified the zones were how they needed to be. There were two younger guys doing the work who too were completely professional and courteous. I cant tell you how satisfied I am by this work today. Ive already recommended them to a friend of mine who struggles with landscaping companies like I have. I called Johns and spoke to Matt to express my appreciation for their hard work and expediency. Please consider Johns for your landscaping needs.
These guys are the BEST! I can honestly say Ive never worked with any home service company that was more attentive to our questions and concerns. We had them rebuild a retaining wall for us that was pretty involved and I will definitely use them again for other landscaping and yard services. Everyone who worked on our project was very pleasant, helpful and professional. John was great about staying in touch by calling and stopping by and he kept us updated with the progress as well as the upcoming schedule. If I could give them a 10, I would!
Johns Home and Yard did everything that we needed to clean up from the long winter, leaf removal, cleaned up my gutters and even trimmed up my trees. My sprinkler system needed to be blow out and they took care of that and even fixed one of my broken heads from last year. They are extremely profession and their service was of the highest quality and would recommend them to my friends and family. Johns Home and Yard is going to take care of my weekly service this year not more rushing home to mow. Their professional service and because they are family owned they treat you like you are part of their family.
I cannot say enough GOOD about this company. THEY ARE THE BEST! Im noticing that this is under my husband, but Im his wife, and writing this review. This is where words just arent enough to me.... I cant thank them enough.... A couple of months we were trying to get our regular guy with our other company to come out and get our sprinkler system up and running...well, when we finally got through to the office, the guy had quit the week before, and they had no one to send to us...all while our grass was turning brown.... I am a stay at home mom and my husband works out of town most of the time. The night before I was able to get ahold of Johns Home and Yard Service, or Matt, we experienced a pipe break in our home...which broke in the ceiling of our basement and came streaming through a light fixture. I was telling Matt what was going on while choking back tears... So, home a lone with two young kids, a small flood on my hands, and knowing our sprinkler system needed a lot of work, a new timer, heads, and was basically, well, total crap... you can see I was on the verge of a serious meltdown. Matt came right away, checked things out, and he and his team were here the next day and were FABULOUS! With big smiles on their faces reassuring me they would take care of everything so I would not have to worry about a thing...Their kindness made me tear up....literally. I would recommend them to ANYONE. They came, worked fast and efficient, and most of all, fit ME into their jam-packed busy schedule when they could have turned me away. A++++++++++++++ from this gal!!! Seriously...HIGH FIVE GUYS!!!!!! :) Quality people, quality work. Lil cheesy, but true!!!
My parents have been using JH&YS for years with great results and so when my husband and I bought our first home we immediately called them to help us. The place was a landscaping wreck but Matt and his crew came out and turned it into a back (and front :)) yard paradise. They set up our spinkler system, cleaned out the beds, and trimmed our trees. They also got our lawn lush and beautiful using power raking and fertilizing, and they even remind me when it is time to fertilize again! JH&YS also provided full service landscaping with nice bark beds and beautiful healthy plants. I didnt really know what would work best (I definitely dont have a green thumb!) but they gave me choices of what works best in our climate and I could choose from there. We even got a small fountain installed and all of it at such a great value and done so much quicker than I anticipated. We have secured JH&YS for our weekly lawn service and I couldnt be happier! Thank you to Matt, Rhiana, John, and the crew for always assisting me promptly, expertly, and with a smile.

This company provides the so-called service for the condo association where we live. We have complained about the non-working sprinklers, met with the managers and still the service is worthless. We have to water our own lawns because they dont/cant maintain the sprinkler system that draws the water from the Big Ditch. We asked for a proposal to replace/repair the lawn where there had been a water line break in February 2010. We are still waiting for the proposal. This company is absolutely worthless.
I called to have my bushes and shrubs trimmed. The girl that came and did the work was very nice, but the trimming job was great. She was very aware of what I wanted and checked in a few times to make sure it was to my liking.
Nice people. I needed my yard cleaned up last minute; I am selling my house and had people coming to look at it. They squeezed me in the next day and had it done a few hours before the people showed up to view the house. It looked great!
