in honesty i read reviews before buying or requesting service and then really don't follow up and check the reviews afterward. Usually don't have a problem. and i rarely leave reviews unless there was something above and beyond, exceptional, or REALLY, REALLY BAD to help save someone else the agony.... SOOOOOOOOO here i am let me get on with it. I left 1 star because i HAD to in order to post this review - otherwise it would have been ZERO! I only had to skim latest reviews and am 100% aligned with the comments. My lawn was horrific this year with weeds, to the extent that i was picking them by hand! I have been with them since 2019 and had 2 techs - no issue until earlier this year. I'd get a call that they were coming and no show. Don't know who the tech is- last one shot me a text the day of and said he was in the area and could do my last treatment. I have called the office - no one answers, i have left messages - no return call. I have written comments on the back of my bill to this effect and explained my sudden dissatisfaction - no response. they skipped a treatment in the middle of our summer (so i started picking the weeds and locally treating them myself) and then doubled up on the next. I didn't see them from early June until Sept! WITH NO COMMUNICATION as to why. i admit, i waited to call because i understand and can appreciate small business staff challenges and was trying to be considerate. but they can't even return a call? If it were my business as the owner i'd be making calls working 24/7 to sustain my business. They were the best around and something certainly happened. I allowed the last treatment to get me through to spring but just paid that bill to be fair but will be cancelling service going forward. What a shame. Other reviews are spot on - find a servicer who actual puts the customer first instead of their pocketbook.
When I read the reviews, I figured there are always people that aren’t going to be happy. Well, all the negative reviews were 150% correct. No one ever answers the phone in the office and when you leave a message, no one ever calls you back. Take notice to the fact that the owner never responds to any of the negative reviews. That should be a sign that they don’t care. Here’s a tip for Central Conn Lawn Service. You can’t return my call, good luck getting paid from me. Do yourself a favor and shop around. I won’t be using them again. My experience was/is absolutely horrible. My yard is loaded with every weed they supposedly treated. Makes me wonder if they are actually using the product I’m paying for.
I’m not even sure where to start but I’ll start by saying after my experience today with Matt I’d rather have dirt and weeds in my yard than deal with this company another day. I have been with them since 2018 when they took over the account of Turf Master. First few years were great. Had one complaint in 2018 which Matt so rudely reminded me of today when he gave me a tongue lashing and said we should part ways after I asked two questions about service. After receiving my first call since March about a visit for Tic and Flea control I had asked for a call because I had not seen or heard from anyone in over two months. A few minutes passed and I received a call from Matt. I think i maybe said two sentences about why I had not heard from them and was considering another service and then he started giving me sh!t! I could not get a word in at all. At one point I asked for his manager or the owner to which he replied “he’s just going to give it back to me and tell me to take care of it” basically refusing to give me the persons name. When I tried to argue that the company has called me in the past when they are behind he just kept yelling he doesn’t have time to call everyone and said we should part ways. I said “part ways? I just called to question service and you want to part ways”. He hung up on me. I called the office back, asked the nice lady to speak with a manager and he was apparently there and started yelling at me once again and seems like he made her hang up one me. I ended up calling back and asking another office rep to cancel my flea and tic and entire account and asked for a call back from a manager. Based on the reviews I shouldn’t hold my breath. Things started out well with them but my guess is they were riding the coat tails of Turf Masters and their SH!T service caught up to them. My lawn looked better then and has never looked that great since they took over anyway! Matt if you read this you need a lesson is good customer care because you need it, you’re rude and clearly unhappy!
Awesome company, can’t really complain about anything, had weeds and grab grass all over the lawn and haven’t had any issues since they’ve been taking care of it in the last 4-5 yrs. And honestly for me it’s cheaper to have them do it then go to a box store and spend hrs spreading it myself. and I’ve done that in the past and I don’t care what the commercials say about any brand from the store, they never work! Both my older brothers use them as-well in Southington and we all agree service provided by Jason C is great! He even gave me some great advice when I planted all my arborvitae’s about two years ago and they look great as well! Looking forward to another season using them. Reasonable and they show up at the appropriate time. -BB
Quite a bit of hand wringing over the past few years with this lawn care service. I’ve been in the same house for 22 years and never had grubs or any other issues until last year. They simply did not do the grub application. They came out and fixed the issue but the same issue has resurfaced. Add to that the amount of weeds, crabgrass, etc… that my lawn has never had are all starting to take over. The cost is upwards of $600/year and I can easily do this myself, save about $250/year and have the peace of mind that it’s actually being done, and at the right time of each season. A lawn care service should be just that, a service that cares for and about your lawn. If there is an issue, I expect someone to tell me proactively and not ignore the issue. If only one issue, I would have more understanding however, there are far too many issues to stay with this company.
Our lawn has never looked better. I don't know what they do, but it gives us beautiful, green grass, every year. The cost to us to go to Home Depot and buy the same stuff they do for us would be double. I appreciate their packages because you can sign up for what you want and only what you need. Update- final 2023- More emails exchanged and all outstanding services completed with the exception of one for which I was told a credit will be issued. Although treatments will likely have no effect due to frost and lateness of the application(s) it’s a better outcome than it was trending towards over the last few months. Moving forward. Update #2 2023- Exchanged emails with company and they did not want to come out and instead wanted to apply outstanding services to 2024. Doubtful we would want them again and not get better service. They said the season was done but I explained I’m seeing your signs across the street and in the neighborhood. Terrible and now we’re out money. They did come out and spray out trees but we’re still out money. Paid for services/Work not completed updated 2023: 1) fall lawn- 41.69 2) winterizer- 41.69 3) fall lime- 41.69 Total needing to be refunded to us=$125.07. Update 2023: Service has declined. From what I’ve learned our assigned lawn care rep has been out sick and the company did not communicate this nor did they make good on services I paid for but did not get the services. Below is the email sent to them. Email is the only means to connect with them as they do not answer phones consistently. We are unlikely to renew with a company that does not provide services that have been paid for. “Very dissatisfied with service this year. According to our bills we have the following outstanding services NOT completed and we would like a refund. Paid for services/Work not completed 2023: 1) fall lawn- 41.69 2) winterizer- 41.69 3) fall lime- 41.69 4) fall tree fertilizer- 89.46 Total needing to be refunded to us = 214.53” 2022:Been a customer for many years paying $500 or better each year. This year I have a webworm / moth issue and I called office but am not getting any return calls. No one picks up at the office and despite all the seeding and spraying my lawn is infested. Called the person directly who has serviced my lawn and he put down one treatment but the issue persists. Now he is isn’t returning my calls. Looks like I may need to reconsider my lawn care provider. Update - contact via email only worked and I got a response and exchanged encouraging emails. Lawn service came out and sprayed for the webworms and I was very pleased. Followed their recommendations to water heavily, seemed to have a positive effect. Very pleased. Completely surprised when I got call last night that they would be out today to aerate and over seed my lawn due to the webworm damage. They saw what the damage was and actually performed the over-seeding and aeration at zero charge. I was impressed and very appreciative. Thank you Central CT Lawn services. Changing my rating.

I never leave reviews but the horrible experience I had with this company motivated me to do so in this instance. I have no words to express how incredibly rude and incompetent this company is. I have had to call multiple times due to the company s own error and when calling today for the fourth time to rectify the issue was spoken to so rudely by the girl who answers the phone, the office manager, and the owner Gary. In 34 years of home ownership I have never had such a horrible experience or experienced such a complete lack of professionalism. But if the owner is going to be so rude why would the employees be any different. Please do yourself a favor and obtain services from any other lawn care company. This one is a nightmare.
Didnt like the person the came and did my house the use a hand spreader almost not in my grass and the are supposed to call me when the are coming to my house the Didnt call at all the guy before us the machine and he called much better guy then the last one a week a go

Their folks dont turn up on time compared to other providers. Often they dont check weather conditions and have come on days with rain following next day so ethe applications were a total wash. If u get late on clearing payments they do not come to your lawn and maintain the cycles until payments are made. And that too for long standing customers who have had a consistently good payment record for services.. totally bad customer service
My lawn was a brown patchy mess and this service turned it into a lush green lawn. Also they are very professional and considerate I have used them for over 3 years now and I have no complaints.
People who here aren t professional, they hate their job, hence doing a terrible job. Don t use this company ever.
We have a very large yard. We also have a well. In the past grub control was always applied prior to rain as the well would go dry running 24 hours/day. Last year it rained exactly 13 days after the application rendering the application futile & of no benefit. The company did come back to reapply but with no rain in the forecast again. We had to run hoses from a neighbor s house to our lawn to supplement the watering process. During this time someone from Central Ct drove by the house saying we were able to water. The company refused to do the last application which was prepaid & said to get another service. Grubs remained problematic all season, necessitating our purchasing Japanese beetle traps as our extensive landscaping was being decimated.
I had an appointment on 4/12/21 at 9 a.m. to take a look at our lawn. No call, no show. I called at 9:25 a.m. asking where the representative was or if he/she was on their way. The receptionist cut me off mid sentence and said the crew was on the road and she did not know when the rep would arrive. How about you put me on hold and find out who was supposed to come out to my home and provide me with an ETA? That s called customer service. I waited until 10 a.m. Too bad, you could of had a customer and possibly a couple more on our street. Not a good way to build a reputation. Crossed off my list.
My lawn looks Great. Even after the drought last year, I followed my specialists instuctions on watering, and the right way to mow. Money well spent.

Paid in FULL for two properties for the 2021 season. One application 77 days ago and havent seen them since. No phone calls have been returned!!
They never pickup the phone. Impossible to make payment over the phone and no option to pay online.
This company is extremely Unprofessional! It has been a nightmare trying to pay for my bill via phone as no one answers the phone and no one returns my calls! I ve never had to chase a company just to pay my bill! I ve only received 1 treatment so far and I m not happy! I ve read the other reviews and noticed this is a trend! Hopefully the owner sees these reviews and changes things before he looses all of his customers! To the owner: You ve lost this customer by the way. Smh
Central CT Lawn Service has been on the decline for several years and this year was the final straw. This was summer # 2 of them going AWOL mid-summer while my lawn went to hell! I now have a lawn filled with weeds, crabgrass and clover that looks the same as any other lawn in my neighborhood that has not been fertilized. I manicure my property and am completely disgusted with Central CTs lack of service/professionalism/pride in their work. Definitely not a company that I will be associating with or recommending to others ever again!!!
They have been taking care of our lawn for the past 4 years since we bought this house. They are reliable and reasonably priced.

Several issues... Office never returned my calls to schedule an aeration and overseeding. Then finally I got through, mentioned my quote and then told me it wasnt accurate. Said they will call back for scheduling and honor the quote but no call back.. I would not recommend.

Was disappointed with a previous lawn servicing company. Been very pleased with this company. Recommended three of my neighbors who now have this service. Dave the rep makes a big difference.
Im not sure what has happened but service and quality really fell off over the last two years. They burned tire marks all over our lawn and told me it would grow back in. I pushed for more so they offered to plug and seed the lawn this Fall but it didnt happen until I called and complained this week. The guy just left. He didnt seed, he broke an electrical box in the front yard and they wont answer calls or emails.
Per the recommendation of Baldwin pergolas we hired Chris and his company to install two pier footings. He was additionally supposed to do custom masonry to wrap the columns with field stone. The job was supposed to be completed in early 2020. After many days of promising to show up but not arriving and some understandable delays Chris eventually stopped returning phone calls and ultimately never finished the job. He left his wheel barrow full of dirt on our patio for two months and killed our lawn by leaving cement debris. Chris was sloppy, unreliable, unresponsive and did not follow through with what he promised. Because we needed the footings to install the pergola, the pergola was not installed for several months the after the promised installation date. They also were supposed to bring the peers down to the frost line of 42 inches. They did not do that. And they actually installed one of the footings in the wrong location. We now have a huge problem on our hands. He never returned our phone calls and he s unwilling to refund money that we gave him as an advance for work he never completed. This is an unprofessional company. I am a general contractor and I ve worked with many subcontractors in my career. I would never recommend Chris and would caution anyone from hiring Chris or Central CT Services.
2 years ago, our lawn was a mess...either brown or green weeds... the result of another lawn service. The progression in quality since CCLS took over is amazing. Every person within CCLS that weve dealt with has been friendly and professional. We could not be more pleased.
Got my Lawn nice and healthy... while others did nothing but waste my money and time!!
Extremely rude service. As soon as he arrived to my property he began using explicative language to describe my lawn. He was also very rude and inconsiderate for anything I asked. Three weeks later I called him up to see if it is worth to fertilize my lawn since I was planning to hire them in August to kill my lawn. The guy flipped off on my as soon as soon as I asked him. He was extremely loud and got very irritated, claiming he was a rocket scientist for grass, then immediate removed me from his list of customers just for asking a simple questioned. I have never had someone come over my house who was so rude. A few of my neighbors that used him told me that he was extremely rude. I would rather have my lawn die before I ever hire this company.
I prepaid for the whole season to eliminate any hassles... Problem is they dont call or leave a message to notify when they are coming out. They do not pick up the phone or return messages for weeks. They failed to do the services I paid for. Stay away from these guys.

We have been using Central Connecticut lawn care for about 7 to 8 years now and are very happy with the service and the results.
Used CT Lawn Care one year in 2018 and lawn looked worse than using other companies in the past. After signing up with another lawn care company this year, CT Lawn Care still came out and applied an initial application. Calling them they stated that you need to cancel or notify them to be removed. This is unlike any other lawn care company I have ever dealt with in the past. If I could rate them lower I would. Totally go with another lawn care company.
Watched one of their bright green pickups driving down River Road in Shelton with its tailgate down on the trailer & dragging full speed w/out its machine in sight...looking unprofessional and wreckless! No one like that needs to be trusted with the health & appearance of my lawn...smh

Made my lawn worse. Horrible product and now I have to find a company to save my lawn. Used them for just over a year before I fired them.
First year was great. Dave was awesome with customizing our needs. This year was awful. We had some dead spots, not a big deal...but the last time they came out and sprayed for weeds and killed all the grass at the curb of our property along the road. It looks awful. My husband has called, no answer. Left at least one message and no one has called back. Customer service this greatly declined this year. Fixing this damage is going to cost us time and money and they don t even call back. -Kathleen Miclette
I am a new homeowner trying to reclaim my yard from neglect and years of crabgrass taking over. I have been working with Chris since the spring and he has done a wonderful job helping us with the front yard. He is great at explaining what he is doing and what we can do on our own to make it even better. Once we get our backyard landscaping done I will be having him come back to do the back as well!
Lousy service, Central CT Lawn Services was providing services since many years now, every year I need to call them and need to remind every month to do the service in back yard, but no luck. Each time they have given same reason, Kids+pets. But this time, they surpassed all expectations in the services. This year my lawn is all brown, dead and gone. I hired a private person to inspect the lawn and told me there are grubs in the lawn, which has eaten the lawn. Grub control is part of the service, then how come there are grubs. Because of grub I got mole. That did more damage to the yard. And the ultimate part is, they billed me Aug first week, I wrote 8/8 and post the check, Check was deposited and cleared on 8/13. Still I got notice from Collection Agency on 8/16. WOW... Never seen mismanagement. I would like to report to Fox New, Channel 3 news and other news channel.
I have used Central CT Lawn Services since I purchased my home 3 years ago. When I purchased my home, my lawn was in poor condition. Today, it is nicest lawn on the street and I have gotten complements from my neighbors wondering my secret I simply tell them to call CT lawn Services! Thank you for doing a great job!
Our first time using a lawn service and I have to say our yard has never looked better. We went with a full array of treatments and the results speak for themselves. Weeds were maintained all summer long and our grass is a vibrant green. Rain certainly helped this year but do think Central CT Lawns approach, products and service played a major role. Highly recommend to others considering lawn service.
