One thing you will notice with all the one star reviews is the owner replies in a way to make the person leaving the negative review to be in the wrong and paints the reviewer as a bad guy. Their contract (at least the one my family received) stated that we weren t allowed to write a negative review. That s against the federal CRFA. Owner will claim Ive never worked with them because my family members, who all live together, have different last names. I have in fact worked with them (I was not the contract signer) and would recommend a different company.

Would not hire them again. My whole landscaping project was a huge disappointment. We originally agreed upon a spring start date, and my project was pushed back time and time again. Finally, October rolled around and they were able to move some things around to fit us in (?). When they finally did do our landscaping, they derived from what we had asked for, and when I requested them to swap out what we actually had wanted they waited another 6 months and multiple reminders from me to do the job we had originally agreed upon. The installation/tech guys were all very lovely and did a great job, but communication and my entire experience with the company itself was a headache. We will be going elsewhere for any other yard/landscape projects. I suggest you do the same.

We had an issue with our sprinklers and Jeff from Newport came out and fixed the issue which ended up needing to be three separate replacement. He didnt leave till the job was done and walked me through all his changes. This was excellent customer service. Thank you Newport and Jeff!

Morning commute was fairly uneventful until a fence bed super duty comes screaming out of the junipers hauling pea gravel. He had both feet on the pedal, gravel pouring out the side and gravel flying out the back. More dust then a space x launchpad. About a bucket full of this #### marble bounced across lanes as I passed vs being trapped in the #### stream. Id be very surprised if Im the only voice you hear this morning. Tell captain first mustache to tell you to review your agrigate on the highway policy before someone on a bike or generally trying to not have their #### destroyed gets hurt. Otherwise happy landscaping.

My 120 year old house sits on a large lot, and had no landscaping when I purchased it. Newport Landscaping patiently worked with me to help create a vision for the yard, and then made the vision into a reality within my budget. The crew is excellent, and every day left the site picked up.

I inquired with Newport Ave about snow removal for some real state clients of mine. My buyers are from California, and there were a few inches of fresh snow on the morning that they were supposed to move into their new home. The snow presented a huge logistical issue for them, so we needed to find a company who could provide snow removal that same day. I called Newport Ave, and the office manager was able to get her crew out that very same day, within an hour of me reaching out. I was super impressed with their responsiveness, and ability to get the job done on such short notice. I realize not all projects can happen so quickly, but when it comes to snow removal, its wonderful to know that I can count on Newport Ave Landscaping in a pinch! Will definitely be recommending them to future clients.

I had Newport out to do a backyard consult in March. I shared our budget and the most important pieces of the project. Our project was basically adding a large patio, a privacy screen, some landscape and an optional plant retaining wall against our fence as well as running electrical for our hot tub. I also inquired about timing as it was very important to me to hire someone who could complete my project by July 4th. I was told that would work and they were running about 10 weeks out and suggested that I go in house for design to make sure I could get everything I wanted within our budget and that would move me to the top of their project list. The designer came out 2 weeks later and I again communicated my project needs and timeline. After being reassured on the timeline and that I could work with the designer on our project, I hired them. Thats when things changed. I heard radio silence for a month until I reached out only to hear that there was no way they could complete my project by July 4th. I was frustrated feeling like I was bait and switched to hire them but I kept faith. A month and a half pass and the designer drops by our plans. I wasnt really consulted on design choices but the design seemed nice. Then they gave me an estimate that left out 2 of the most important pieces (privacy screen & electrical) and it was 20k over budget. I was shocked. I was expecting the designer to work with us and say something like well these items wont fit in your budget or these are the material options that fit within your budget. Instead everything was super $$$. We didnt feel like we were listened to or valued. Upon sharing with friends, I have only heard negative things about this company and another friend also had a similar experience where their bid came in way higher than their budget. I would not recommend working with Newport Ave at this time due to poor communication and customer experience. Update in response to the owners response: I wasn t planning to go into specifics but most of your claimed inaccuracies of mine are not true and I have the emails to support: 1. You state Nathan came to discuss a landscape consultation on 3/20, it was actually 3/13. I also provided him with an updated budget of 25-35k at this consult. It s unclear to me why he didn t update that on his end. I never received acknowledgement that my initial July 4th date was not policy nor not doable. 2. You claim I didn t respond to Nathan to proceed with design until 5/15. This is not true, I have a signed document dated 3/15 and email thread from 3/16 where Nathan confirms receipt. 3. The designer came to my property on 3/29 for a design consult where I asked the same questions I did of Nathan. I conveyed our reduced budget, timeline, and important items vs nice to have. She mentioned she had a large backlog and was hiring someone to help with her and to expect designs in May but I never received acknowledgement that my deadline date was not policy nor not doable. 4. I did not receive any updates until I reached out in late April to Nathan via phone. He called me back and said this project was no longer possible by July 4th but that he would see what he could do. So whatever he reportedly told you was incorrect. On May 3rd (not the 16th), I emailed to check in on expectations for timeline. 5. I did add revisions to the design proposal as you state. However, there was no other guidance beyond removing lighting. Yes, I brainstormed ideas that could have potentially changed scope but I also noted many were nice to have. I hired you all to guide and advise us on what was do-able. 6. When Nathan came over with the initial proposal bid that was 20k over our conveyed budget at our consult, he presented it and said I know this is way over your budget but sometimes that s what happens with these things. I am sorry if what was relayed to you was inaccurate. This is my experience and hope there are some pieces of feedback for you and your team to consider.

I transferred my back yard from a high maintenance to a no maintenance yard. Newport Avenue placed half the yard in turf, the other half in pavers and added a pondless water feature in the back yard. They also built my pergola and designed the pavers so it would fit properly. The three staff members working on my yard were extremely easy to work with, came to work on time, worked extremely hard and did a marvelous job. I m so pleased with back yard and I will enjoy it for many years to come. Thank you Newport Avenue!!

Hello - I am writing a unsatisfactory review for Newport Landscaping - they are awful - I called to have them come aerate and seed my small backyard, and I have a scheduled appt with them on Tues, 5/31 the day after Memorial Day (last week) and they no-showed and never called and i stayed home ALL DAY waiting for them. I called them on Wed morning to complain and they rescheduled my appt for last Friday, 6/3, and guess what, again they no-showed with no phone call to cancel, and at noon that day, I called to confirm that they were coming and they said theyd be there in the late afternoon, and they no-showed - so twice in one week, I stayed home ALL day waiting for them they never had the courtesy to call and update me that they were too busy - apparently, their aerating machine is broke - and they only have one alerting machine and one crew??!! It appears that they over-schedule and dont have enough staff to properly run their business - run to do not walk away from these guys - there are so many other options in Bend to help. They run a very poor business that lacks courtesy.

Had to call back to finish easy clean up mow/trim. Then they still didnt do a good job or finish it all. Then charged me about $500 on the smallest of lots. This is after paying them quite a lot to do a small patio. They left the site a mess. Only did the bare minimum. Etc etc. Look elsewhere.

We used Newport Landscaping for our lawn and could not be happier with the service provided. The quality of grass cutting was excellent. the gentleman was reliable and did a great job. I love their office staff! Mikaya is amazing!! Super efficient, helpful and kind. Kelly was also great to work with as well! They have a great team and we are thankful we found these folks! :)

We use Newport Ave for our weekly lawn maintenance in Powell Butte and they go above and beyond to fix trouble spots in the lawn and keep our grass GREEN in the desert! Great communication by Mikaya (hope Im spelling correctly) at the office and the crew is respectable and so nice! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Unfortunately, our overall experience with Newport was poor. We do like some of the finished product and the crews were polite and hardworking (we even tipped them). Where the company fell seriously short was in two critical areas: communication and issue resolution. We had four different leads on our project; there was no knowledge transfer between them, which resulted in a slew of things being missed or done incorrectly. Many things were promised by one lead and then never carried out by the next. A few issues were ultimately escalated to management but nobody ever called to work things out, instead they sent a rather curt email, with a demand for payment before any corrections would be made. Payment was then made (timely) and we have not heard from anyone. At this point, it s clear they have no intention of returning to make things right. It would have been easy for them to just take care of the issues, we would have been happy enough and this review would not exist. This has turned out to be one of the worst experiences we ve had with a contractor. It s also been unnecessarily stressful. Our recommendation is to take your landscaping projects elsewhere, but plan way in advance as landscaping companies in Bend are swamped with business these days. **Update: out of the blue I got a call from the foreman and they ended up taking care of our main complaint, took a while but they did it. Happy they came back so changing rating from 1 to 3 stars. ***It s March 2021 now and I m upping the review to 4 stars. We had a leak which turned out to be a faulty part and they were on our job the next morning and took care of the issue. Thought that was really good customer service! **July 2021. They were not good on their word and argued that it wasn t their fault and they are now charging us. I m going to pay it but I m not happy, this could have easily ended well but no. Back down to two stars. I m done.

I hired them to repair my sprinkler system. They showed up dug a huge hole then left never to return. I tried to call them for weeks with no response. So I hired another company that did the job within a hour and a half. 2 months later Newport called to tell me someone would be out to fix my issue. They wouldn t return my call so when they showed up I told them no thank you. 6 months later my bank notified me that Newport Ave Landscaping was trying to take $900 out of my account. I ended up having to contact a lawyer to get them to back off. Just call someone else!

This company was built from the ground up by a Central Oregon-born and raised man, and that alone is reason enough to use them. But, they also do excellent work, are efficient, and easy to work with.

Edit: They winterized my lawn system and I thought I had an issue with it. They came out the next day to check it out.

PAID THEM SPRAY WEEDS IN MY LAWN, THE SPRAY WAS NOT EFFECTIVE, SO I CALLED THEM TO COME BACK AND SPRAY THEM AGAIN. THEY E-MAILED ME THEY WOULD BE BACK AS SOON AS THE WEATHER COOLED DOWN TO SPRAY AGAIN. E-MAILED THEM AND CALLED THEM, NO RETURN REPLY. I AM NOT PART OF THE HOA THAT TRIED TO SUE YOU. I AM A PRIVATE HOME OWNER THAT YOUR EMPLOYEE BID A JOB ADJUSTED THE PRICE FOR CASH, SHOWED UP ONCE, SPRAYED THE WEEDS AND LEFT. THE SPRAY WAS ONLY PARCELY EFFECTIVE THATS WHEN I CALLED THEM BACK AND THE PROBLEM STARTED.

I called Janna at Newport and she was able to move heaven and earth to get me on the schedule. Aurora showed up the next day and did a very professional and thorough job. I got on the sprinkler blowout list in September. I was told my system would be taken care of. No one came out. I emailed & called so many times. No one ever got back to me. It s now late January & they never completed the service they promised me and GHOSTED me. Who does that??!! Terrible company. Edit to add: the owner replied to my review and asked me to call him. I have left 3 messages for him, and have not heard back. Yes Mr West, I have the right company. Below you ll see part of the email chain I have with one of your employees agreeing to perform this service. Your company inbox and voicemail must be littered with messages from me, not ONE SINGLE ONE was ever returned. It seems the only way I can get your attention is on here, so maybe you ll see this. Phone doesn t work, email doesn t work, how are you guys in business???

The men that provide our weekly service are awesome! Rain, snow, freezing weather, whatever...they are there making sure our lawn is maintained and looking great. We truly appreciate these employees soooo much! Thank you!!

I had an amazing experience with Newport Landscaping. I had a pretty limited budget, but they came in, gave me some great options and and turned my dusty backyard into a truly beautiful space. The where in and out in two days and all of the crew where friendly, non-intrusive and very professional. I will definitely work with them again!

My initial appointment with Newport had a few hiccups, but they worked to immediately correct the issue. The staff I worked with were professional and helpful in troubleshooting my system. I will continue to use their services and wont hesitate to recommend them to a friend.

We spent all summer trying to find a landscaper to fix our broken sprinkler system. I called and emailed multiple companies and nobody would respond to me. Then I called Newport Ave Landscaping. They made an appointment for me immediately. They showed up exactly when they said they would (and even called to let me know they were on the way). The service technician was incredibly friendly, quick, and helpful. What we thought was going to be a huge repair job turned out to be one stuck valve. The tech cleaned it out (didnt try to sell me a new one), reprogrammed our box, adjusted some sprinkler heads, and everything worked great! He did it all in less than an hour. We were so impressed. Even better, he didnt try to up-sell us on anything and he explained what he was doing as he did it (we know nothing about sprinkler systems). We will absolutely use this company again for all of our irrigation needs!

Buyer beware - this company doesnt send out bills in the mail. Instead, they send your account directly to collections in six months. This is the first business in Bend that Ive had this happen with - everyone else sends you a bill in the mail. Save yourself the hassle and pick one of the other thousand of landscapers in Bend.

Called and requested a bid for a a 16foot stone bench, the guy that came out to bid said he would ball park the job at $1600-$1800. Then the next day called and said it was a $6000-$7000 dollar job, I have priced out materials and unless this small job would take 2-3 weeks it shouldnt cost that much. I just felt they didnt want to do a small job.

I called last year to get my backyard landscaped and had an appointment waited and waited, they never showed up, I came from the valley to our bend home to meet them , never the less I was very disappointed.

My husband and I interviewed several landscape companies, but we were most impressed by the professionalism and attentiveness of Newport Ave Landscaping. Turns out, we couldn t have made a better choice. Adrian and his crew were a pleasure to work with. They listened carefully to the look and feel we were going for and delivered exactly that. Once the install began, Adrian and his crew worked all day every day until the job was finished. We love our new backyard and highly recommend Newport Ave Landscaping to anyone in need of landscaping services.

Called to have them come out and get our sprinklers up and going. That was basically the only time they answered their phones. A guy came out and after looking everything over told us we had a bad sprinkler timer and he would have the company call us with a quote. We waited a week and never heard back, tried to call but could only ever get an answering machine. So we called another company who scheduled to come out within the next few days. It was two weeks from the day Newport came out to the day the company who actually fixed the issue came. The guy from the other company was able to quickly determine there was a disconnected wire and got our sprinklers up and going quickly at a reasonable rate. NO TIMER ISSUE. Low and behold, Newport emails that day with a quote around $250 for a new timer. I tired calling to get them back out before my lawn died several times to no avail. They mis-diagnosed the problem which I was told by the guy who fixed it, should not have been an issue at all. They would have cost me a large expense for something that was not even the problem. I received a bill later on for when the first guy came out. The detailed bill stated I was being charged for Activated sprinkler system which never happened. I tried calling about the bill, but was never able to get through and no one returned my messages. As a last resort I am being forced to send a check for a service that was never rendered because I cannot get through to the company to resolve the issue. I do not leave negative feedback easily and am very disappointed to have to do so now.

By far the best landscaping company in the area. Professional, punctual, and reasonable prices. I have worked with them for years and have always been impressed with their work.

Newport Ave. Landscaping does a phenomenal job. I have hired their maintenance and irrigation staff in the past both of which did a phenomenal job. The maintenance staff was competent enough to flag problem areas and then have an irrigation tech come out to resolve whatever the issue may be. I only say this because other landscape companies we trialed did not have the same level of communication and minor to major details were missed. Would definitely recommend Newport Ave. Landscaping.

My wife and I are new to Central Oregon and we needed some finishing landscaping done, most notably river rocks and a tree planted at our new home in Eagle Crest. We asked for an estimate and ultimately hired Newport Avenue Landscaping to do the job. We were absolutely knocked out by the quality of their work and highly recommend them.

My husband & I had a new home built in Eagle Crest. Landscape was not a part of the job so we were on our own. We had trouble finding contractors because everyone is so busy. A friend on mine in Eagle Crest suggested I call Nick Tennis at Newport Ave Landscaping. Nick was very easy to work with & completely understood what needed to be done for fill, drainage to meet the requirements of Eagle Crest. We did not begin our project until November so just had the dry beds, fill, & retaining boulders put in. The men on the job were very thoughtful, considerate & hard working. They worked through some pretty frosty, icy days but stuck with it. We are very happy with the work completed as well as how easy it was to work with Nick & the crew from Newport Ave Landscape.

Newport Ave deserves a solid 5 star rating! We are extremely satisfied with our experience from Suzanne, the landscape architect, to Sterling and to Chris and the work crew. They did an excellent job. They were always professional. They listened to what we wanted and they were considerate of all our concerns. They did a great job!

They may do wonderful work--their website sure seems to indicate that--but dont call them if you live in Redmond. I was in the difficult position of having to arrange all my appointments for the one week Id be home because of a family emergency that has me living out of town for now. I called 3 weeks in advance for an appointment (realizing this is a very busy time for landscapers)--their computers were down so the scheduler had to check with someone about whether or not they could come to Redmond. After confirming that they could, the appointment was scheduled. TWO MINUTES before the scheduled appointment time, the scheduler called and said she needed to reschedule for 30 minutes later--I was a bit irritated since my husband (Andy) was already home from work but things happen and there wasnt anything to be done about it. A few minutes later the scheduler calls and says OOPS--they cannot come to Redmond at all. Why did it take them 3 weeks to figure that out? Now, it is most certainly too late to get another company to come out this week to see what we need done. Very poor customer service and very disappointing. Lynn Redmond, Oregon

I just signed up for landscape maintenance with Newport this last week and I was very impressed with what they have to offer and their service so far.

We are so thrilled with the transformation of our garden its amazing. We were so impressed on how much effort and care was put into making everything come alive and beautiful once again to our garden that had been neglected and ignored for four years before we purchased it. Newports crew came everyday working very hard until the job was completed....everything is perfect!!! I have not used this company which is why I have left 3 stars instead of one. I called them and it asked for detailed message, which I left. My problem was simple, and I guess not worth their coming out. They say they have a 24hr response but I am still waiting for their call. Companys need to know that even though my problem was simple this time, I would have used them again at another date.......I have since located someone to fix my sprinkler problem.

Newport Ave Landscaping came to my rescue after a very unfortunate experience with another Bend Landscaper. He and his crew (Chris and Manuel) were professional, polite,hardworking, prompt with returning phone calls and an absolute delight to work with. My landscape job required working with existing materials, sculpting and placing of boulders and steps to create a natural looking retaining wall on a hillside. I cant say enough how grateful I am... and the finished product is the talk of the neighborhood, a masterpiece!!!

After finding Newport Avenue Landscaping online, I contracted with Sterling after he promptly responded to my request to meet and provided a reasonable bid out of the 3 that I received in total. It was not the cheapest, but it was the most comprehensive and trustworthy. He was quick to turn around a proposal and was able to get started on my project without substantial delay. His team was hard working, responsive and kind. Our complete backyard renovation including a new paver patio partially laid over an existing concrete slab, new land features, new ground covering and a lot of new plants did take two days longer than quoted, but costs remained the same. Additionally, we did have some issues following the initial installation with some erosion which was promptly fixed with a new feature and additional heavy materials installed at no additional cost. Sterlings follow up ensured that we were happy with our final product and he and his team have earned their 5 stars.

Called 3 different times to try to arrange someone to come out for a quote on some work and no answer, so I left 3 messages. Did not receive any call back. Perhaps hiring someone to answer the phone would be something to do in the future. If getting them to respond to me when I am a potential first time customer is this hard I cannot imagine what it will be like getting them to fix something they have done after they have taken my money. Edit: Newport got in touch with me last week and was able to come out and look at what I wanted. Though I wont be able to do business with them, they did their part in following up on messages and Sterling was very quick to come out to my house and was very polite.

After calling five companies for a backyard overhaul, Newport was the first (and only) to call back. Sterling was professional and extremely knowledgeable in the proposal process, prompt in getting the design approved by our neighborhood review committee, and quick in getting to work. HIs crew was very experienced and professional, and great to work with, and they really paid close attention to every detail which was appreciated. We couldnt be happier with the end result, as it blew away our expectations. I would highly recommend Newport for anyone looking to design, install or maintain a landscape.

Great customer service, very professional. Sterling and his crew obviously work hard to stay in good communication with clients during the whole process. We had a paver patio/hardscape put in and it looks great. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy with the finished product. Prompt and professional! Sterling and his crew helped turn a neighborhood eyesore of a front yard into a natural landscape. They faced a hefty bunker of a concrete planter box, that proved to be some serious work to remove. I cannot recommend these guys enough. The front yard looks better than we could have hoped, and they finished on time.

I met the Newport Ave. Landscaping team this spring when I moved to a new home and needed my sprinkler system activated. On the recommendation of a neighbor I called them and decided to used them for all my lawn and yard maintenance. What a great decision. I appreciated Newport Ave Landscaping because they were not only consistent in showing up every week, but they were consistently good in taking very good care of my front and back lawns and yards. They were very complete in covering the whole area, and Sterling was good about checking up on how his employees did their work and in making sure that they followed through on everything that needed to be completed in the yard care. Also, If I had a particular need or request or need Sterling was very good at getting back to me and making an appointment and problem solving the need or problem till it was corrected.
