They charged me $113 for my yard that is less than a tenth of an acre, then refused to refund me, for at best average work. They are scam, do not waste your time. Edited to 2 stars because they contacted me and at least refunded me store credit.
Horrible service! The kids that they sent BUTCHERED my yard, and left an entire section in the backyard untouched….like just stopped in the middle of cutting it and left! I came home to the grass from the mower literally all across my yard, around the house on sidewalks, and absolutely no edging was done. Please note that all of that is included in the service! I complained and sent many pictures/videos, and was given a $15 credit. Just to later be charged an additional fee of the same price I originally paid, get this yall…for a “long grass” fee😳! I’m on a major highway, corner house, first house in the subdivision, and also a home-based business. Ridiculous! Also, they won’t allow you to cancel until after THREE horrendous mows.
I tried giving this company a 2nd chance. Got a mower who was decent for a season until he just stopped showing up. Contacted lawnstarter and it’s often difficult getting someone on the phone. Also, I was told I’d be charged extra for tall grass—even when the reason was because their contracted mower didn’t show up on the scheduled day. I’m doing better with a local mower now who is just a text away when I need… good riddance to this company.
Lawn Crew doesn't show up office does not respond to complaints or requests to fix services and then wont reimburse even tho it is an option. Lawns starter is a theiving company in baton rouge and buying their service is a huge mistake. Do not do it! They figure a lawyer cost more than $59 bucks so people won't sue. You have the wrong 1 today! Photos are just of the from yard. Lawn starter has charged me for 3 services almost 3 months worth of paid for services not rendered.
Here is my updated review on Apr 20th-- after I post my last review, LawnStarter contacted me-- they refunded the charge for that cut and was able to switch me to another mower. I also suggest LawnStarter to include a phone number in their app so whenever a user has issue with the service, they can call and get in touch with a real person. ***********below was my review on Apr 19th************ Be aware!!!They charged you even the lawn is not mowed-- tried to contact the company? no way! The record said the recent cut was complete in Apr 12th and I was charged-- the crew never show up! I messaged the crew on Apr 13th and he said he will come on Apr14th- never showed up! I message him on Apr 17th and he said he will come on Apr 18th-never showed up! I message him on Apr 18th and he never response. LawnStater-- do you have any quality control or you just put an app to make money? Do you have custom service at all?
We used this service for the first time today. The person who came out to cut our yard (Carl) ruined our lawn and some of the landscaping we just had installed. Uneven cut, missed spots, poor job weed eating, drove through our newly mulched beds and threw it everywhere. It seems every time we try a new service we are dissatisfied and disappointed with the low quality work. We really wanted this to work out for our new bi weekly cutting. Off to search for another company. 😔 sigh
They canceled my appointment twice for no reason. Once they finally came, they did a terrible job and left the job half done. I called about it and the crew came back out and they left it awful again and were complaining that they had to do the work the entire time. I called again. They came for the THIRD time. It looked okay, nothing great but I decided to let it go. But then I got a message saying they came out and took care of the bushes, which I paid extra for. I go look and they didn’t touch the bushes. This service is ridiculous. Unless you have time to micromanage and sit on the phone with customer service, it is not worth it.
DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use LawnStarter. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever had to deal with in my life. We used them at our old house for a year and didn’t have many issues. The only issues we had were that they would cancel often. Then we moved into our new house and that’s when the trouble started. None of their crews would mow our backyard. They said things like our gate was locked when our gate has never had a lock on it. We called and emailed multiple times and all they did was send a different crew next mow. The same thing would happen, they would not mow our backyard. This went on for over a month. Our backyard had not been mowed in over a month and we had paid LawnStarter for a full mow every time. We contacted LawnStarter and told them it was ridiculous and we deserved some sort compensation for our troubles. We had been paying for complete mows for weeks that were only 50% completed. They said they would give us a $50 refund and they would be sending the “best” crew they had out. Again, our back yard did not get mowed and we did not receive a refund. We called and they told us we were never promised a $50 refund and that we were not entitled to any refund. They asked if we wanted them to send a different crew out to fix the issue and we told them no because it would just end up being the same thing as all the other times. We asked if there was anything they could do to compensate us for all the trouble we had been put through and all they told us was that we were free to cancel at any time. We hung up and got on the app and canceled our service. About an hour later a crew shows up to our house. We didn’t ask for a crew to show up. In fact, we explicitly said we didn’t want a crew to come out. Luckily, this crew did mow our backyard. Now they are trying to charge me for this mow even though we did not ask them to come out and they only mowed the backyard to fix the issue they caused in the first place. It is ridiculous. They are completely lying and saying the mow was scheduled even though it absolutely wasn’t and we canceled our service before they even sent this new crew out. Once again, DO NOT USE LAWNSTARTER. They will do anything they can to cheat you out of your money. They have cost us a fortune in partial mows. They have ZERO respect for their customers. All they care about is money. I have attached a photo of how tall our grass was. If I could give negative stars I would.

Not good. Did not take out a lawn mower to cut the grass. Dot not pick up the leaves. Considering call my bank to cancel payment. I have never seen anything like this before. I usually cut a d do all the edging myself. My wife is sick and I could not do the yard work myself. I will not try any one else. He has ruined it for the rest.

I mowed lawns for my Dad s lawn mowing company for several years and I understand how the pricing and customer service for this type of business are supposed to work. LAWNSTARTER WAS AN ABSOLUTE DISAPPOINTMENT. They quoted my TINY yard for $40 and I was charged $89 due to a hidden long grass fee and an automatic $9 Tip that I by no means added. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this service.
Not responsive to emails or texts. No showed multiple times. The initial set up call felt like a pressure sales call. I will avoid this service in the future.

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. For 2 different properties I ve had them show up and leave without doing the service or not showing up at all. This is ridiculous.

I called to schedule a lawn appointment, and after a 20 minute phone call of the guy just holding me on the line and taking all of my information and debit card info, I was informed that it would be 48 hours before someone would be at my house to mow. I then called someone else and they completed my yard within 2 hours. The story doesn t end there, I call to cancel my service from lawnstarter and this call was the one that showed me the companies true colors. As soon as I cancelled, having no service done to my property at all, they took money out of my account and proceeded to tell me one of their people cut my grass. I knew for a fact it wasn t one of their crews because this guy was under a different name, number and it was just one man company. After getting on the phone with lawnstarter to discuss my reimbursement, they proceeded to stay on the fact of it got cut and they had pictures from the service. I then asked for the before/after pictures and the guy told me my account would be reimbursed because there were no before pictures. He said 3-5 business days on the reimbursement and it s been 8 days and nothing has changed in my account. BY THE WAY! These people are in Austin Texas. And say they have a location in Baton Rouge which is false. Never use lawn starter. Trash

They just NEVER finished a job..something was always left un cut! Also impossible to call...I was on hold for 30 min and finally hung up...Will bring their small children to the yard they are cutting.

Service was terrible! Customer service terrible! They were charging my credit card and no service was done for two months. They will not return my call.
30+ days without a mow! (Long review) I don t even know where to start. For the first 8 months this service was pretty good. Although the quality of the crew is questionable due to lawn starter being essentially an Uber service and bidding out your lawn for the lowest bidder. But that s besides the point. When we moved I wanted to continue the service but I experienced something completely different. For over a month my lawn hasn t been mowed and I m on a weekly basis! When I contact customer service they can t give me a good reason why no one is coming out to mow it. They just give my service to a different local person to mow and they don t show or cancel. One person even said the job was completed and it wasn t. When I asked today speak to a supervisor they said we don t have a phone number for them. We send a message to them and they ll call you within 48 hours. Well I tried that twice and it never happened. I even attempted to contact Joey a rep for LawnStarter who usually replies to these google reviews and he never responded to my email or phone call. At this point I just want my lawn mowed so I ll be taking my business elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and just pay someone local. That s what we re doing. Save yourself the headache and disappoint.

I have 3 active properties with LS with 5 signed up. The poor communication with customer service when there are concerns about a service performed is unacceptable. No supervision available to correct problems. Because of the unacceptable customer service I will be moving my accounts elsewhere.

DO NOT USE THESE FOLKS! They tore up my yard...multiple tire ruts that are extremely deep. In the grass that wasn t destroyed, the quality was very poor...uneven grass everywhere. They refuse to provide and reimbursement for damages. I will do everything I can to spread the word about their poor performance and service to help prevent others from this terrible experience.

Brandon did an excellent job on our property. He paid attention to all of the small details, edging, blowing, cleanup and more. It is a rare treat to have someone be so thorough.
This is the absolute WORST lawn service. They are very unreliable. My grass has not been cut in over three weeks. I have spent hours on hold trying to get resolution. Now they have assigned a different guy AGAIN and supposedly he will cut it Monday or Tuesday. That s what they said LAST week and the week before. Don t use this service unless you like stress, hassle and an overgrown yard. Wish I could give them a negative 10.

Locked me into three mows, but I kept getting rescheduled. I was patient due to weather but noticed that even on days where weather permitted I was still getting rescheduled. In the end, no one showed up and now I have dead patches of grass where clippings built up. The only good thing is I was able to cancel due to no show and was no longer locked into 3 mows. Also quoted me one price but made me approve twice that amount just to pick up clippings. Got a local guy to mow the grass next day and pick up the clippings.

Lawnstarter has been mowing our grass for the last two years and up until this past month we have been satisfied with the service. However for the last month they have continually said that they were going to show up day after day and no call no show. We didn t hire another lawn care company because they kept saying that they were coming even going so far as to give us a credit because they haven t showed up in over a month. Our grass is now really high because of them continually assuring us that they were coming. Today we learned that they are not coming so we are going to have to pay another company a lot of money to mow the yard because our grass has gotten super high during this time.

The guy that cut our grass was great...its the customer service that was horrible...locked us in for weekly when we clearly stated we wanted bi-weekly. Talked with a representative about this and was told they were going to clear it up....never happened...fire the Manager whoever she is cause shes really rude.
This seems like a complete scam. I just moved and the first mow I scheduled, they never showed. I contacted customer service and the woman said they would assign me a new crew. She did, they also never showed up. I m really not sure how they have such good reviews. This service is TERRIBLE.
Might be a good service (if they ever deigned to show up). I liked the fact that the company was app driven however they failed to show up on four separate occasions so I had to cancel and get someone else to cut my yard (who was local [i won t provide their name so I don t get accused of astroturfing] and did it the next day with no hassle). I realize the weather conditions weren t the best during the time but it had been two weeks since I had scheduled my visit which is unacceptable to me. The customer service reps were very nice and helpful (even though it led to nothing). Stick to making the actual service your number one priority and maybe let customer service and UX be secondary in this case.

My mother recently had surgery and is not able to complete her yard work so I decided to give LawnStarter a try and I am so glad that I did!!!!! The app makes everything so convenient! And with me being in Atlanta and my mom in Baton Rouge it is perfect for us! We were assigned Isaac and he has completely exceeded my expectations!!! I messaged him on the app asking for something in particular to be done during my mom s next service. To my surprise him and his crew showed up the same day I messaged him and completed it!!! We would have been happy if he just did it the next service but he went above and beyond to make sure that my mother was completely and 100% satisfied! I will continue to use LawnStarter for my mother and I sure hope they keep us assigned to Isaac! Would give this company a zero if it was an option. Been a client for 3 yrs, but this year I have had 3 mows....3. Their providers reschedule all the time, despite having a 2-3 day window to perform services. Then they dont show up for the rescheduled time. Ive been reassigned to 5 different providers this summer and its been almost 6 weeks since my last mow. Ive been understanding of weather delays, family emergencies, and equipment breakdowns, but they have terrible communication and zero follow through. Their customer service tells you what you want to hear, and then act like theyve never heard of the issue when you call or email them to follow up. Ive recommended this service to friends, family and neighbors in my 3 yrs with them, and now I regret ever recommending this company. The worst part is that I was relying on them to keep their promises while I was out of town. I just returned 4 weeks later, and the grass is so overgrown and full of weeds, it will cost me an arm and a leg to get it back in shape.
Havent actually used them, but I signed up to get a quote and they decided it was okay to text a 11 at night, and this was from a local number so they should know that its not okay to text this late.

The first time someone came, they mowed around anything that was in the yard (sticks, a toy shovel, etc). I was left with random patches all over. I payed the grass mowing fee, even though there was no edging, blowing (grass all over the driveway and sidewalk), and patches left all over. A few days later, they charged my card $235 without providing any service! I have tried for 2 1/2 weeks to get my money back but I keep getting automated emails and ridiculous excuses. I had to cancel my credit card so that I don t get more random charges. What I thought would be an easy and convenient service has proved otherwise. I would give zero stars if I could.

Im leaving it at a one star until I see the outcome. Everything was scheduled until the day they were supposed to mow, today, that they have to find me a new crew all of the sudden. Edited 07/20/18 My first cut was canceled but they rescheduled a new crew for the very next day and now my grass is finally cut! Chavis did an anwesome job and went above and beyond for what I thought I would be getting through the LS app.

Had a few problems starting off with the company as far as getting the crews to show up on time. However Isaac Thomas came out today and did an excellent job for us. I would highly recommend him through LawnStarter. I hope to be seeing him back weekly.

I came to this company because of the amazing reviews it had. The cost was very good and the app was helpful. I was told that I would get a crew out to do my yard apr 12th- 13th. No one showed and no reason as to why they didnt and no one called me or emailed me to let me know they were not coming out. I called them this morning apr 14th to see when someone would be out to do my lawn. The lady explained that she could not understand why this happened and furthermore, she could not understand why no on contacted me. She informed me she wouldnt know when they would be able to get someone out but she would open a case for me and they would contact me soon...meanwhile my grass keeps growing and I dont have time to wait on them and pay someone else extra because its grown so much. I decided to cancel my service from them (before I even got started by the way) and will find someone else. I would have stayed if someone contacted me to let me know what was going on. I shouldnt have to chase them for answers, they act like they are the IRS.
Lawn was expertly done as scheduled, after a very short delay for inclement weather. This is the perfect solution for vacations or extended business trips. Easily scheduled and Dillon maintained contact after each visit. I would recommend them highly!

This is the second time he has cut my yard and it looks fabulous.
They damaged property (garden lights, lawn accessories) for which they were incredibly apologetic, but did not offer a lowering of the price for the mistakes. They REQUIRED me to endure 3 lawn cuts, even though I cancelled the service after 2 (again for destruction of property) and they did NOT tell me of this requirement when I used their online platform to cancel the service. I do not blame the lawn care pro - he was accommodating and professional, he even returned to blow clippings with 15 minutes of me complaining about it - rather, I think this company has a lot of work to do on the back end to answer for their glaring lack of customer service. Hopefully you will have a better experience with them in the future.
Lawn service is now supposedly coming 6 days after it was originally scheduled. There was no notification as to when or why service was changed. Also, it appears to be impossible to speak to a warm body about this. Im canceling
