Overpriced and just not a good job placing plants. Good job on the patio, but the placement of the plants and variety of the plants was amateur. I will never hire them again

We worked with Chad Tipton and Maxalea for nearly 3 years to re-design and modernize our backyard and the deck surrounding our pool. Very patient, professional, and responsive as we considered various designs and cycled through multiple iterations until we arrived at a landscape design that worked for us. The execution of the project was flawless. We are very happy with Chad and Maxalea and will go to them again for the next project without hesitation!

We recently completely an addition and a full exterior renovation of our house and used Maxalea for the rear patio design, landscape design on the entire property, and reseeding of the rear yard after construction. The lawn reseeding was amazing. It was a less expensive option than sod and we went from dirt to full grass within weeks and it still looks great a year later. The landscape design was the final touch that completed our project and looks amazing. Picking plants and bushes that the deer would be less likely to eat was important to us and we have had very little issues. We also had a significant driveway pond prior to the construction and Maxalea reworked the rear drainage with a new driveway, a new driveway drain and all new rear underground drainage system which all work great and we no longer have any ponding. We look forward to continuing to work with Maxalea on the remaining areas of our property over the coming years. Many thanks to Chad and his entire team for a job well done.

I dont usually write reviews, but I want to give a big shout out to Dan and the team at Maxalea. They thoughtfully redesigned our front lawn and continue to keep it looking sharp. Trust the professionals!

Maxalea did an outstanding job for us when they took on a very challenging project on our neglected property. Before we moved in they removed and filled in an in-ground pool, removed most of the existing mismatched shrubs, trees, and weeds, created a detailed plan, and did an excellent job in transforming our yard with beautiful plantings, trees, and flowers. Everyone at Maxalea is very reliable and responsive whenever contacted by phone, e-mail, or text. Maxalea continues to care for our landscaping needs because of the high quality of their work. So the bottom line...highly recommend!!

These guys are not lifting a finer unless you are willing to pay at least 5k for garden maintenance. Unless you have a chateau or a business that can afford, not sure how you can justify this expense. Quite arrogant over the phone when you express your astonishment with their $$$. Discussion over and that s it.

Maxalea delivers both quality and service in every aspect of what they do. If you want something done right, this is where you go. We hired Maxalea to design a patio and landscape plan for our backyard (among other things). The design they prepared was exactly what we asked for (and then some). Maxalea employs and sub-contracts the best people for each phase of the job, and we are impressed by everyone s skill, communication, and fastidious attention to detail. JD in particular has done an amazing job managing our project - he is diligent and always available to answer our questions. Their prices are reasonable when you consider the quality and immense value-add they provide from start to finish. My husband and I feel like we are in good hands, and we plan on looking to Maxalea for all our future landscaping/hardscaping needs.

I have used Maxalea for many years for landscaping and maintenance. More recently we added lawn care and that has been a terrific move. Our lawn has never looked so good. The crews are always pleasant and leave the yard looking pristine when they leave. Maxalea clearly has instilled high standards in the crews to the point that even when I tell them now to worry about something, they take care of it anyway. They do a great job and know the job is not done until everything looks clean and perfect.

We have been using Maxalea services for 20 plus years for garden projects and yearly maintenance. Their work is always done beautifully and the crews are very efficient and professional. We completely trust their crews to complete the work with minimum oversight from us. It has been a pleasure to work with this company over the years.

The Maxalea look - 1st rate landscaping! We have used Maxalea Nurseries for high quality shrubs for decades. Four years ago, we hired the company to do our landscaping maintenance. Two years ago, they designed and executed a side-of-the-house walk to eliminate a very muddy patch. The result exceeded our expectations! Jim and Marcos incorporate our wishes into the maintenance and oversee professional crews that follow through with excellent results. In our 45 years of residence, the property has never looked more beautiful.

I chose Maxalea for two projects I had in mind one for landscaping and one for a backyard patio. I liked that that they are local and family owned and what I read about them online. I worked with Vance as the project manager on both projects who was very professional, knowledgeable and excellent at taking your vision and designing a beautiful and functional backyard space. We had some challenges with drainage and Vance was very creative with his solutions. The crew was also very skilled at their craft and professional and always there when they said they would be. Vance was always on top of the projects to the last detail. It was a very positive experience from beginning to end. Thank you!

Vance and his crew recently installed large landscape stones, a path and fence for us. They paid attention to every detail and the result looks great! I highly recommend working with Vance and Maxalea for landscaping needs.

I love it..

They did a great job planting some extremely large yew bushes. After the initial installation we noticed they were too close to the foundation and asked them to return to move them. They did so without any hesitation. Thank You Maxalea!

The work was nice, but their final bill was 50% over their written estimate. This is not the way to run a business. Note: there was NO change in the scope of the work. The foreman was apologetic about his miscalculation, and my husband agreed to pay the extra amount (Edgevale Road project). But I was unhappy that the written estimate was SO far off; I would have gotten other estimates.

After seeing the work that Maxalea has done in our neighborhood over the years and getting recommendations from our neighbors, we decided to hire maxalea to landscape our front and back yards. This was the first landscaping company that weve hired to do such a big job and we have been very pleased from start to finish. The concept that Doug designed from our discussions exceeded our expectations by far. He addressed several issues we had not even considered as well. Dave managed the project and patiently worked through any and all issues and changes that came up throughout the process. The entire team was respectful to us and our property. They were thoughtful and professional. We would readily recommend Maxalea for landscaping and hardscape design and installation.

I cannot even begin to describe how pleased we are with the design that Maxalea created for our property. Vance, Doug, & Rebecca are consummate professionals that listened to what we had in mind and then created an extraordinary plan beyond anything we could have imagined. Every level of detail was incredibly well thought out, from the grade to the need for deer resistant plantings to the fact that I wanted fragrant plants near our living areas. They came out multiple times to measure spaces, drop off plan ideas, etc. And the overall design is jaw dropping, with friends, neighbors and those passing by constantly commenting on its beauty. I cannot recommend this company and specifically this team highly enough.

They stood behind their work. The true test of any company is how well they take car of the customer after the sale. There was an issue with the work (nobody is perfect) they took care of the issue and resolved it 100%. Thank you Maxalea!

I can t praise Maxalea highly enough! We were well into a landscaping project with another company and it had been one disaster after another from the beginning but we didn t know what to do. A friend directed us to Maxalea and Jim was at our door within an hour. They immediately assessed the project and we had a plan and a contract days later. Everything ran smoothly from that moment on - Jim was in constant communication with us and visited the site daily, the men were polite to work with and cleaned up each day, and the job was completed perfectly and much sooner than expected. We are so grateful to Maxalea for coming to our rescue and so very happy with the work that they did. We are now customers for life and happy to share our positive experience with others!

Our small homeowners association has worked with Maxalea for almost 10 years. Weve been incredibly happy with their service and level of professionalism that entire time.

Everything went well with the initial call. However I was quickly notified by Kaitlyn that this company does not do work in those areas. One of my homes is in Baltimore City. She also informed me that it would cost alot and suggested I go to Craigs list. Wow. I guess they decided I couldnt afford it. They have no idea the amount of business they just lost.

We have had several projects completed by Maxalea, with great results each time. Recently, Maxalea completed a spring/summer landscape clean up project for us including mulching, trimming trees and overall maintenance. Jim McWilliams and all the folks from Maxalea have been a pleasure to work with. Last year, we raved about a fabulous job-well-done on the stonework especially the walkway repair and installation of two new boulders where our walkway meets the road. This year, we designed and had installed several beds of perennials and some foundation bushes. I especially appreciate the manner in which we brainstorm and come up with ideas and adjustments on the spot. I respect the experience and knowledge that all the Maxalea crews bring to each one of our projects!

Maxalea landscaped our home over 15 years ago. The front yard design matches the style of our home beautifully and has the curb appeal I was looking for. Maxalea designed an amazing backyard pool and patio that looks relaxed and inviting! Maxalea also maintains my property and it still looks just as beautiful today!!! Maxalea has provided us with exceptional and knowledgeable professional service and counsel over the years. Their prices are quite competitive and worth every penny. We have a beautiful yard and had done some of the work ourselves over the years, but with our busy lives the decision to contract Maxalea was the right one for year round yard maintenance. It is a great local business.

I enlisted Maxalea to replace the grass on a hill leading up to my house with vinca. This was done and looked amazing when first planted but over time erosion issues from the down spout have caused the hill to sink down and a trench to form along one side causing not only an eyesore but a mud pit at the base of my sidewalk. When contacting Maxalea on this issue initially, I heard back once from the original person assigned to my project but never heard back again. I followed up some time later only to find they no longer worked there and my case hadn t been given to anyone else (not Maxalea s fault at all). Once in the right hands, I have received the customer service I signed up for from Chad and the owners. They have taken what has been a pretty frustrating situation and turned things completely around in coming out right away to look at the issue, installing a short term solution, and getting me scheduled to make the long term fix. Chad has been in constant communication with me whether it be through phone or email and I really appreciate all the time he has taken to resolve this issue while also offering what should be the best solution to the problem. I feel that Chad and the owners of Maxalea really exemplify what good customer service should be and I wouldn t ever hesitate to reach out again for future projects as I know they stand by their work.

Tony and his crew came to my home for their first maintenance visit of the year. They did a beautiful job, and the work was meticulous. They couldnt have been nicer. I especially liked they took care not to disturb a nest of doves that have taken up residence in the climbing hydrangea. I am more than pleased! My husband and I contacted Maxalea to grind out invasive tree roots, replace sidewalks and re-sod. Work was done but we did not expect the damage that Maxaleas sales rep, Vance Cole and landscapers did to existing shrubbery and trees. The mature Japanese Hollies, Azaleas and Crepe Myrtles have been pruned so severely that front entrance landscaping looks truly awful. Maxalea even removed mulch from the beds without replacement. I asked Management ( Steve ) to address the damage to existing shrubbery and trees without satisfaction. I would not have Maxalea do any additional landscaping work. Who would ever use a service where you even have to request clean up of concrete from side beds and sidewalks and the removal of wood work material from Graco Concrete. The $8,000 cost should have warranted a more professional job without damage to mature shrubbery and trees. Pamela Hindsley
