My advice would be to stay away from this company, or understand exactly what it is and lower your expectations accordingly. This is not a lawn care company, this is a software company that sources Internet leads for local lawn care vendors. They charge you for the service, then funnel the majority of the service fee to the vendor, keeping a small margin for themselves. Therefore, They are not in the lawn care business, they are an app. They also have an atrocious rating on BBB of D and a whole slew of similar complaints. My lawn care provider began erroneously charging me for additional services that my property did not require and we never requested. This went on for about seven months before I realized the additional charges. In total, there was over $400 in charges that I never ordered. Specifically, for “flowerbed weeding” on a property with no flower bed. When I address this with customer support over four or five calls, they promised each time to have a manager follow up with me and never did. Finally they agreed to a one time reimbursement of $57 (the cost of one month of weeding) But refused to acknowledge the other $350. It also seems like a majority of their positive reviews are fake, and have been exposed as fake on Google reviews, Reddit, and in several Facebook groups that I checked on LawnStarter with.
Bit pricey and had to constantly check the property because they would lie and tell me they mowed when they didn't. They outsource to people so it is pretty hit or miss.. mostly miss. Would recommend finding someone local.. it's what they do but charge more for a finders fee.
They quoted me $20 just to come back with another quote for $176 for tall grass which just was a few scraggly weeds in my backyard. My grass is SHORT. I requested to cancel three times and they continue to go in circles with me. Also they tricked me because they use the name Lawn Love for their app and initial emails but it’s this scam company after all.
SCAM!!! Beware of this company. Mowers will never show up and still charge you. Went through two different pros and would get billed for services not provided. Last "Pro" cancelled every other day for almost two months. I finally just cancelled my service and got someone else at a different company to mow it. Surprise, surprise all of a sudden got a bill for it being mowed by LawnStarter even though they never showed up! If you dispute on the app, it automatically just schedules a service for the next day. Customer Service was horrible. Refused to cancel this service and issue a refund because it is not their policy to cancel within a 3 day window. Told me it was my fault instead. How are you supposed to cancel if the pro reschedules every other day and never completes. Do not use.

They showed up without a call and weed waked my flower garden to pulp. I had planted over 13 years of care. They didn't cut the backyard because they didn't have any keys to open the gates. I'm disabled and cannot walk to them. I contacted the BBB and they said Megan would contact me, she never did. Jason w/customer service offered me 45.00 credit. BS!!!!! And they deducted 111.00 from my bank account saying the job was done. It has been non ending headache. I was told "we are a remote company so we can't do much" however they are based in Austin. A real company would have been at my home within 3 days accessed the issue and replant the garden. I got nothing but lies! I have been charged another 57.00 for work that never happened. 6-22-2023!!!
PLEASE DO NOT USE LAWNSTARTER! About a year ago I used their service because I thought it was convenient and reliable. It went great for about 3 months until they damaged and knocked over my 15 year old lime tree given to me from my grandmother who passed away 8 years ago. I called and requested them to put the tree back up and place back into the ground. After numerous disputes with them over the phone they refused and said they will not fix it. I submitted Better business complaints and even hired an attorney. After 2 months it became exhausting for my family and I so we just accepted that they will not own up to their damages and stopped pursuing. The lime tree was still producing limes. After a YEAR later Joey Walker called me and said he wanted to make it right and apologize for everything and took ownership. He said he will send a vendor to fix the tree by standing it up. So the vendor showed up and stood the tree up but after 3 days the tree started to lose all of its leaves. A week after that all the leaves and limes fell off and the tree completely died. After I told Joey what happened he said he’d get back to me. Since then he will not respond to any of my voicemail messages or text. I also included Katherine Kennedy as well and she hasn’t responded either. So now I had to press criminal charges for vandalism. My family and I are now reliving the nightmare from a year ago. I would have never thought that me getting lawn service would result to damages to my home and having to get law enforcement involved. Please people DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Easy to set-up and schedule, but awful performance. They make it a simple process to get signed-up, but trap you with the 3 service minimum even with issues. As an out-ot-town property owner, I scheduled LawnStarter to mow the yard while my property was vacant (3 weeks). In the 3 weeks, they mowed 1 time, but charged me for all 3 services. When I went to the property after the 2nd service to check on the house, it was obvious that they hadn't been there. When I reached out to advidse them that the crew didn't show and I wanted to cancel, they offered a $15 credit which is less than half of what I was charged for the service that didn't even occur. What kind of resolution is that? And to make matters worse, they had cut the turf WAY too short the previous week (service 1) and the yard had been burnt by the sun (only yard on the block to be browned, so it wasn't from a lack of water). I even provided clear information to leave the yard left tall (rather than cut short) in their 'Message My Crew' feature, but either they didn't read it or even care. I'm aware that these crews are contractors, but it's clear they (LawnStarter) have ZERO control, guidance, involvement, etc. over their selected contractors. Yes. I should've just found someone locally and mailed an old school check, but I was looking for something seamless and easy. Lesson-learned. Without this being said, I WOULD NOT recommend LawnStarter to anyone or for anything. Sidenote: their 'Support' is slow to respond and not very helpful.

Reviewing from the south suburbs of Chicago, IL The first cut, the LawnStarter Pro claimed that my grass was longer than 9 inches so they charged me long grass fee. When I asked for pictures next to a ruler to prove that it was 9 inches, pictures were not available to me. The only pictures they say they took I never saw. Pictures can be angled away that it looks a certain height. I know for a fact that my lawn was not 9 inches, so I filed a dispute. I was issued a partial refund because now they say only part of my lawn was greater than 9 inches. Really, which part! WHAT A SCAM!!Now, let s talk about whether I was satisfied with the first cut. It was horrible! Exclamation it was cut so low that you could almost see the dirt. It was way too low and consequently, my lawn burned. Additionally, there were sections of my lawn that were completely missed. The person who mowed my lawn did not respond to LawnStarter to come back out and correct what he had missed , LawnStarter had to somebody else to come out and repair the job. Keep in mind these are multiple phone calls that I have had to make to LawnStarter. I could not cancel the service at this point because they required a three minimum so I asked for a different person to mow my lawn. The second cut, there were no issues. Even though LawnStarter stated that they would send a new person to come and mow my lawn. The same person was sent. Since there were no issues, I was not gonna make a big deal out of it. I also decided that maybe that was just a one time thing. Since I decided that I wasn t going to worry about the first cut, I hired the company to trim my bushes. LawnStarter again sent the same person that did the first and second mowings, even though they said they were going to hire someone different. First of all, the trimmings from the bushes were just left! Secondly, I have never seen such a butcher job on bushes it was a disaster exclamation again repeated phone calls from me to LawnStarter for them to call the person to at least pick up behind themselves. The third lawn cut from the new guy was completed on my NEIGHBORS lawn and not mine. This person failed to respond to either my inquiries or LawnStarter. LawnStarter again had to hire another person to complete my lawn. once again several phone calls for me to LawnStarter to correct an issue. If this were not enough, I received an email from LawnStarter to post my opinion of their company and receive a $20 credit on my account. When I clicked the link, the only response that could be given is a glowing review that had been pre-typed by LawnStarter. There was no possibility for me to make any individual comments. WHAT A SCAM!! LawnStarter has a process in which they give the lawn care person 48 hours to respond to her inquiry or to correct an issue. If the first person that makes an error on the law has 48 hours to respond and they don t respond then a new person has an additional 48 hours to respond. This means that it s at least four days to correct an issue. Again, this is an efficient and is simply not acceptable. The horrible service I was provided by LawnStarter did not justify the high prices they charge.
Multiple no-shows in a row. LawnStarter marks them complete . You can dispute the charges and their customer service will do nothing for inconvenience or bad service. If you own a rental and cannot verify their work, it s a bad idea to use this contractor.

SCAM! No way they are 4 stars! I started use this company in 2020, and I have always had issues with their pros showing up, but this was the worst. Tried to get my lawn mowed several times. First, never showed up. Second, Said my lawn didnt need it, but our cameras showed that noone ever even came by. Third, said they could access my house (completely opened, btw). Forth, just canceled due to scheduling issues. I call LS and said that the grass situation was getting out of control and if they couldnt get someone out here asap then I had no need for their service. They got someone to come out that next weekend. After waiting all day he showed up around 5pm on a Sat. He told me I needed to approve the request for service on the app. in order for him to start the work. It was a service chage for long grass fee at $310. But I shouldnthave a long grass fee when it was their lack of service that caused it to be long. I called the support number 3 times, but could only get ahold of customer service. The third guy I spoke with told me he wasnt sure why support wasnt answering. He said he messaged them about the issue and suggested that I approve the charge and support should fix it first thing tomorrow. So, I did as suggested. They customer service rep said he was sending them a follow-up email I my behalf detailing the issue and the suggested actions. I also sent an email stating the same information. Two hours later support sent me an email stating they agreed the grass quote was not accurate. They suggested I reject the request and they would fix it. However, the quote and service details were no longer available on my end of the app. I called the next day and again couldnt get ahold of support, but the rep submitted a claim regarding the issue and told me they will rectify the issue within 72hrs. I then received an email stating they werent going to adjust the charges. I called and surprise couldnt get ahold of support only a customer service rep. He was able to get ahold of support supposably and they said they had no record for the complaint or the follow-up email acknowledging the discharge. I told the rep I could send them copies and even read the email out to him. He then went back to his magic support connect and they said all they could do was to take $90 off. After going back and forth it was clear they didnt care and they would rather loss a custom of 4 years (never had a long grass charge the whole time) then to do right by that customer. I told them fine make the change and delete my tip and then canceled my account. Later I found out the invoice hadnt even begin to be processed like they claimed. So why couldnt they correct the issue? This was horrible custom service and dirty business practices. I the recieved a call from lawn pro asking if I would like to hire him directly to do tree services. I told him no and that the grass charges were too much already. He said he only got $100 from that service. But LS told me he received the whole $300. I dont know who is trying to pull one over on me,but trying to get move money after all that is dirty and unprofessional.
I signed up and quickly was assigned a pro to do the work. I texted a couple of times with this person and on they day they were supposed to show, they never did. I found out that the pro thought they should get more money for the service from lawnstarter so they decided to not do the job at all. I contacted lawnstarter who then said that they only choice was get another pro or receive a $15 credit for future work. Since I had already found someone else to do the job, I took the credit just to end the interaction with lawnstarter. Two months later, they billed me an additional $9.12! I contacted them again and they said that was because I took the $15 credit. That made no sense what-so-ever and they could not properly explain it. In addition, they had no way on their website to remove my credit card without replacing it with another one nor anyway to delete the account. I had to cancel the credit card itself in order to ensure I would not get any more charges. A major inconvenience to be sure! I highly recommend *AGAINST* using this service. Too many honest ones out there to waste your time here.
Their team member was unprofessional and actually trash talked me via text. Also, left my gate open and my dogs almost got out. Unbelievable
Does anyone know how this company stays in business. No communication, constant no call no shows, don t know how to cut grass. A blind guy with no arms could do a better job.
DO NOT USE. They cancelled not once but twice. I wasted so much time on hold and now my yard looks like a jungle and I am trying to someone else to mow it. What a headache.
UPDATE: LawnStarted reacted to my initial review, so we could discuss the resolution we have for you. Surprise, surprise they actually have NO resolution for me. In fact, they wasted even more of my time to tell me the most they could possibly do was report the providers. The tried to say they wouldve provided a refund if someone had cut the grass. The entire issue is that no one came to cut the grass LOL. Therefore, not only did they do nothing to resolve the actual issue for me (which is no one showing up), but they rather took more from me by getting a better sense of bad providers (which only helps THEM weed out the bad and keep the good). Seriously, friends, STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They are backed by what seems to be very greedy venture capital firms who refuse to invest in customer satisfaction. ORIGIONAL REVIEW: This company is a scam. We booked through the app. 3 days later (not the 48 hours promised) their pro canceled. Another 3 days passed, and another pro showed up and refused to cut the lawn for the price the app quoted. He too canceled. More days passed and a crew showed up and charger a long grass fee since the grass has grown over 9 inches after many days and many cancelations. That company - despite asking for more money - disappeared and never showed up. A number of other pros canceled without even coming by. We called the company a bunch of times, and the wouldnt do anything. They just kept saying well look for a new pro. No pro ever came. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
Very disappointed in this company. Every time my lawn is scheduled to be mowed, the guy never shows up and comes several days later. Now they are trying to find a new crew, but again same issue, they never come when the mowing is scheduled. I feel like the people running this company are very lazy and not hardworking, neglecting their clients along the way. Also they only trim the top of the grass, and so the grass grows back to be long after only a few days.
Should be 0 stars. For over a week theyve cancelled and rescheduled service. Its very unreliable. When contacting support about my issue receiving service, they just cancelled my service again and told me to rebook. Avoid this company.

DO NOT USE THIS LAWN SERVICE. We picked this lawn service because we saw the 4.4 stars with 1,970 reviews. Since accepting the quote 5 days ago, communication with the team has been terrible. The team wont respond to our messages and wont give a time for when they are supposed to arrive. Its currently 4:34 PM and we were told that a crew was coming this morning. We called the company and we routed to a customer service rep that was 0 help. We want to cancel since they still havent arrived, but theres no way of getting in contact with the crew thats supposed to be here. Save your money and pick a different company!
Obscure fee structure, no communication, crew never showed up. This company seems to function as a broker between customers and different landscaping crews and upcharges you just for playing the middleman. Whether or not you get good service (or service at all) is completely dependent on your crew. Crews are also shielded from negative reviews as they re operating under the LawnStarter name so will abandon your job for better paying ones and leave you high and dry. Not a good business at all. The app would be useful if your crew would actually respond. I found a local guy who is much more responsive, half the price, and actually shows up when he says he will. Do a little more digging and find someone else. Bad business model and they know it bc they lock you into 3 cuts before you can cancel AVOID

introductory offer ok, second mow for a small patch of backyard only (requested) was charged as if it was for an entire lawn. Customer service was not helpful, the mowing took 10 minutes and was ok, however the charge for $47.99 was out of this world and ridiculous! 10 minutes to mow a small patch of lawn for this amount of money is unacceptable.
Good service, the teams sent out to work do their job quickly and efficiently. The only time Ive had an issue with a team, LawnStarter was quick to correct it. Would Recommend.

I ve been using LawnStarter for about 2 years but safe to say I will never be using them again. I live in a small residential duplex with a small yard. I started off paying about $30 for a mow but would randomly get price increases for no reason until I was left paying $60 per mow (no additional services, just a mow). I had it scheduled for biweekly but the crew wouldn t show up on the scheduled days, naturally the grass grew, then they would show up 2 weeks later, charge me the $60 but pack on an additional long grass fee of $51. I could understand a small added fee but $51??! Tell me why I m being expected to pay $110+ for one mow on a small yard when they were the ones who wouldn t show up?? This happened multiple times while I had an account with them. Sometimes, they wouldn t show up on scheduled days but would still charge for the mow. It felt like I was getting scammed out of money! Not only was this service unreliable, but the surprise fees they like to add on to an already expensive service is absolutely ridiculous. Who operates a business this way? LawnStarter is extremely unreliable in every way possible. Do not use this company.

I have been trying to get my grass cut for over a month now. They never show up and keep rescheduling. It is to the point where my grass is now well over grown and have acquired a code violation. Very unprofessional. I will not only recommend another company but will specifically mention not to use Lawn starters because they never even start.
STOP CONTACTING ME. This company made no effort to make sure they cut the right yard. No text. No call. No doorbell. They cut the wrong yard. I tried to cancel the service and they are still contacting me. I already hired another service and had them successfully cut my yard. This Lawn Starter place has sent me messages for days about why they can t come out. Other service cut my yard today. You all are the WORST!! DO NOT USE THEM!! SCAM!! They won t stop contacting you.
Theres a one time mowing option on their website, although they do not offer this for my address. It was a waste of time for me to wait for a call only to be told this when I was only interested in a one time mowing service. They require a 3 cut minimum for service apparently.
As a provider youre expected to mow yards that range from $50 - $55 each. But only earn $30.40 - $32.40. And engaging customers to break away from the app is frowned upon. Use the app to gain new leads and give the app the boot. Express extra caution in how you broach customers, they could report you.
Got handed over to 3 different providers that all kept postponing the cut for 2 months. Last provider stated that grass was too high for a normal cut and left. Thats when I had enough. Ended up doing it myself. It is so hard to get out of lawnstarter. They hide it. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

Update: it was a rough start with Lawn Starter but they are highly motivated to provide good customer service. They worked with me and found someone that did a good job mowing, and edging our yard. Thank you to Robert for making things right. I plan to continue to use their service. Do not use this service. I was quoted a price of $23.12 total for a new service. My yard had been mowed 13 days prior to them mowing it. They stated my grass was longer than 6-12 ,in just 13 days, and want to charge me $104.99 now instead of the $23.12. I wanted them to mow every two weeks. I gave them two stars since they came on the day they said they would and did a fairly good job. They did mow my blooming flowers in the backyard down which I am not happy about. I will be looking for another Lawn care service to replace them.
Update: I received a phone call from support shortly after posting this. Megan seemed sincere in her appreciation of the situation, assured me that steps had been taken internally to ensure that it wouldnt happen again, and offered to cover the long grass cleanup fee. Had I not already made other plans, I would have taken her up on it. Although I cant justify 5* for this, I *will* bump it up to 3* because she genuinely seemed to want to help. Sometimes they decide to just stop coming if anything is mildly inconvenient. When they wait too long and the grass is overgrown, its suddenly 4x as expensive to do the work. Avoid these guys.
Service used to be great however 2023 mowing season has had constant cancellations, reschedules and long grass fees. Customer support is not helpful with resolving any issue you have. Strongly advise not using this service.
So I opened an account. Contacted by provider. Date set to mow. No mow but provider wanted to push back mow by 6 days. My lawn would be 10 inches tall by then. Then he tells me 2.5 hours to service my tiny lawn. Wants $97.50 but I contracted for $52 bi-weekly. I mean what planet do you live on? Tried to speak with customer support and no contact made. But the sales department answers the phone. And the provider wanted me to only contact him via his private number. Wow! I do not recommend this company.
SCAMMERS NO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER!! They will schedule you and change your date of service without giving you the courtesy of a heads up, will then gaslight you and tell you to manage your expectations when they don t take accountability for their mistakes! Customer service will catch an attitude with you real quick! Tried giving them the benefit of the doubt when they said they d come out the next day and then guess what, they changed our date of service without any type of communication! Had to cancel before we could even see if they did an okay job. Will be sure to tell my friends that are in an HOA to not rely on y all!

Scheduled a lawn service for July 5, was on vacation.. i get a message that the lawn is complete and someone named Damon has completed law services. They charged my account 79.50 I come back a couple days after July 5 and nothing has been done , no cut no lawn mow, not a single thing has been done in my yard. I call and dispute and then I am told that I have to wait 24 hours for the provider who lied about completing service in the first place to fix the the issue befor and defend is made. This is the worst.
I entered my billing info online and apparently that has committed me to three $49-ish visits without it being apparent that that was what was happening. Didnt see any customer service contact info anywhere. Very forced sell approach in the online interface. I had decided NOT to use them and, since there was nothing on the last screen I saw that indicated completed or done or youre scheduled now, I thought I was still able to avoid using them. Not happy about this at all and will make sure thats known on social media and elsewhere. Also, youre to let them know 48 hrs in advance if you cancel, but theres a 3-day (right?) window for when somebody will provide the services. (?)
Update: I was promptly contacted by customer service and they were able to assign a new crew to my house and perform the mowing three days later. They also refunded the first mowing. Great customer service after a bad initial experience. Original review: The crew never shows up, just makes excuses for not going. Then when you send a message to the crew they ask you to call them so you can arrange the mowing using a different company. Super shady.

The crew that takes care of my yard do a great job. They are timely, conscientious and the yard is always A+ after each mow. I still find having to pay the amount that lawn mowing costs these days but Franklin + crew do a great job every time! I would recommend them to anyone!

All app, no service. The platform has plenty of ways to communicate with landscapers. I reached out to mine with detailed photos and instructions to mow the whole property. But on the day of, the landscaper did only the front yard, poorly. The landscaper then tried to apply a surcharge for long grass. Customer support was fine, and my service was cancelled, but still a huge waste of time.

If I could give zero stars I would. On the app you can select skip or pause services, they do not listen to this, and show up anyways then after charging you for a service you did not want and then do not refund. Another time they did my neighbors bush trim and would not refund, even after I skipped the service and never scheduled it. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Save your sanity and your wallet. WORST customer service I have ever dealt with and I am never one to leave a poor review.
Update: LawnStarter refunded me because the team did not knock on my door to inform me of the long grass policy being in effect. I will update this review following my next appointment. Crew doubled the charge without knocking on my door, in violation of their stated policies. I dont trust these folks.

For the past couple months the crews have not notified me when they were coming so I could unlock the gate to my back yard so its been untouched. Then, theyre here and done in less than 5 minutes. Customer Support doesnt really help. They just give a partial credit and dont address the issue.
Here s an update after dealing with Kat, a Customer Experience Specialist. She followed up after my original review. I ll give Kat credit for her time and effort to understand exactly what occurred with the property damage caused by a landscaper that Lawnstarter referred to my home. When it was all said and done, she was unable to resolve my concern. She had this very polite demeanor with an I feel your pain approach but nothing changed. She did not reimburse me for the $250 cost that I paid to have my sprinkler system repaired. Bottom line ..It s rare to meet such a nice person who can accomplish so little. DO NOT USE LAWNSTARTER!! They sent a contractor to remove some dead rose bushes and the guy destroyed my irrigation system with a pickax. When he did not return to repair it, I called the main office for help. They said that the contractors are not employed by LawnStarter so they declined to take any responsibility even though they sent him to me. I insisted they reconsider their decision or I would have to cancel my weekly mowing service. So, they sent me to an Incident Resolution Analyst who told me I must be confused and probably called Home Advisors instead of Lawnstarter. I even sent them a screenshot of the contractor s original text, but they just doubled down and said the contractor is incorrect. The whole experience felt like some bizarre corporate spin zone that puts the customer second. Now I m looking for a reputable company to repair their damage. It s pitiful.
Scheduled services are often cancelled or rescheduled. I have been bill for services that were not performed. Work is sloppy.
They keep coming and charging you even after you cancel. Doesn t seem to be any real way to stop it. They will also re-activate your account without talking to you first, after you have cancelled, and send people to your home without confirmation.
Mowing always looks good after. Shows up when scheduled and always cleans up after. Highly recommended.
Ive been with LawnStarter for more than 4 years. They had been very helpful and easy to deal with. Our of that 4+ years, I only have 2 service crews who comes biweekly. Hector is really good until I was informed that he will no longer be servicing my lawn after he damaged some of my sprinklers ( cant blame the guy, stuff happens lol) Im just disappointed that he didnt told me or kinda ghosted since he was my main guy for 4+ years. LawnStarter set-up a new crew after. Both guys did a great job but Zachariah is much better even if he just started a month ago. Zachariahs lawn service is much cleaner I guess. Importantly, no problem with scheduling. I can skip service if I need to, no hassle at all. Price wise, they are still cheaper than some company. No problem or issues with billing. Their phone app is easy to use. Great experience so far.

I selected LawnStarter to help us maintain the lawn on a house that we were flipping. The original service we received from lawnstarter was good enough, but then we had to halt service to have extensive foundation work down. LawnStarter continues to charge me for service that did not take place. 4 mownings since August 2021. The latest one was March 13/2022. I sold the house on 2/17/2022. We had temporary lost our bookkeeper due to illness this fall, but as we were preparing the accounts for tax filing we discovered the charges. I called to straighten out the account and even though the guy was nice enough, he would not help me resolve the problem. He just kept saying that we had called too far past the service dates. I was not complaining about the quality of service, but about the theft of our money for not performing the services at all.

Very unprofessional, completely misleading from the estimated quote provided initially, charged me twice and when contacted they dint help me at all. Frustrating experience wouldn t even recommend to anyone.

First service didn t show up finally got to talk to someone and they reschedule second service they skipped even though I messaged them about adding services third one no show fourth one skipped again finally I talked to someone who says she is the supervisor and there is no one above her and she pretty much just told me ohh sorry you can just keep on waiting or I can try another crew after we give them enough time to show up or You can just try with someone else seriously??? I signed up and booked them for a Sunday that was available $42, sweet not bad to avoid the Texas heat! Friday I get an email that I was scheduled for Saturday (which was fine). Saturday comes and goes, no one shows up. Sunday comes and goes, no one shows up. Monday comes along they finally show up and said my grass is too tall and would need to requote me. They send me a new quote for $98 one time due to the grass height. Sure one time to avoid the heat go for it. The guy comes Tuesday mows the lawn, doesnt rake or leaf blow due to his leaf blower being broken. I later get the bill for $155...........They charged me $98 for leaf cleanup on top of the $42 lawn mowing......$98 TO ATTACH A BAGGER TO A LAWN MOWER! I call Customer Service to cancel my service and they offer me a $10 credit to keep me...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! $10 credit to make up for a ridiculous service fee? I would not recommend Lawn Starter to anyone for any reason at this point. What a scam.
This company is obviously having labor problems. I used them in 2021 without much issue but last 4 months have been terrible. Ive had crews not show up at least 4 on sunny day times with the excuse of inclement weather and the last few times the new crew claimed to mow my lawn but had not. Frustrating...
Albert is amazing and a blessing! He is articulate, sweet, thorough, and just a special human being! I signed up for weekly LawnStarter service to make sure our yard is consistently mown even when we take weekend trips. The website was easy to use and I liked how I could select additional add-on services as necessary. Beyond that, the experience was very frustrating. I selected a Friday for my first mow so the grass would be short for the weekend. When I received confirmation I was surprised to see I was now given a range of Friday - Monday for when my service would occur. Not ideal, especially for the first mow when Id like to plan ahead and be around to speak with the crew. On Saturday I received a text message saying my crew was on the way with a link to message with them. I liked this ability to communicate with the crew and sent them a message letting them know I was out at the moment but they could message me if they had any questions. No response. I got home about an hour and a half later and crew hasnt shown up. I message them again, no answer. I wait the rest of the day and the crew never shows up and I receive no communication from LawnStarter or the crew explaining why. I file a support ticket asking why the crew never showed up and did not get a response. The next day I logged in and saw that my service was now estimated to occur Tuesday or Wednesday (this is after booking for Friday the previous week). By that point, my grass was going to be so long that they would likely charge me their long grass penalty fee. At that point, I decided enough was enough and sent another support request to cancel my service. I actually received a timely response to that support ticket and they honored my request with a weak apology about schedule issues. This was a terrible customer experience made worse by a complete communication failure on the part of both LawnStarter and the crew. Very disappointing.

Day of the second service comes and the crew has the gall to stop by, take photos and request more money and not even knock or contact us until theyre already gone, further pushing the already 2 week delayed service out another week. Absolute garbage and an absolute scam, avoid at all costs. This is the Aptive pest control of lawn service.
Literally was traumatic. Every provider they have are sloppy and cause damage to property. final straw was coming home to tire marks on sidewalk, bald patches in grass and wooden fence post bent and cracked (I had to use wood glue). Best of luck to anyone that reads this and still proceed with service.

The team is just so nice and friendly! They always stop in during the service to give me little notes or ask if I d like them to whack weeds, etc. they are friendly and professional and I feel super comfortable with them.
If you want professional and consistent, timely work do not do it! They push services dates constantly, even when they confirm someone is coming during a specific timeframe. Because new people are coming to your home to do the service, the work is never consistent and you end up dealing with very unprofessional workers. Our service got so delayed that when they finally came in, the crew left saying our grass was too tall for them to cut for the fee the app had set for us, even when we had communicated several times we really needed our backyard worked on for a family event we were hosting, and that we were willing to pay for the difference in pricing if needed. While they had been late many times before, this finally pushed us to look for a local company. The difference in services was so immediate and refreshing we should ve done this way sooner! Plus, it feels good to be able to support locally owned businesses and be able to communicate directly with the source rather than a third party.

Unreliable, Fake assurance and major letdown. They schedule you a week out, give you a 3-4 days windows when service will be done- but never show up, so waste 2-3 weeks while your yard becomes over grown - and then you go looking for help which will charge you for long grass. Dont use them - Ask neighbors for local businesses.

I tried getting my yard cut with them for over a month stuck in a rescheduling crew cycle. I tried 4 different crews and they all never showed up and would ignore messages. Customer service usually takes a few days to get back to you. It caused my yard to be over run and for me to go buy a lawnmower and do it myself. Save yourself the hassle and just cut out the middle man.
I hired lawn starter to mow my lawn.....two weeks ago. My lawn still is not mowed. They keep delaying and delaying and delaying every single day. Ive received code violations from the city. This company is an absolute fraud. Never ever ever hire lawn starter. How a company with literally one single job cannot do that single job is embrasrasing.

We have a hard property due to a lot of trees and other strange property lines but the crew takes incredible care to make our lawn look better than it ever has. James and his crew are so professional and take great pride in doing a flawless job. Mowed poorly. Charged me when they didnt come mow. Mowed down large chile pequin bush. Used a standing lawnmower in a medium sized yard so left uneven mowed lawn many times.
They are now charging me for work not done. A crew was suppose to show up on 6/2/22, no show. So I mowed my own yard. Then they showed up on 6/7/22, without letting me know. The crew told them they did mow the lawn when they did not. The first crew damaged the edging.

Im impressed with Noahs service, hes always on time, does a great job mowing, edging, trimming and blowing away the results, and very reasonably priced.... But today he outdid himself. I threw my dogs ball into a large bush. This isnt just any ball... Its the ONLY ball my dog likes. He was reduced to staring forlornly into the bushes and crying. Wont chase any other ball. Longest memory of any dog. Anyway, Noah poked around in the bushes with his weed whacker and found the Holy Grail Ball, plus a few others. With a smile. Terrible experience. The first mow was fine, then they never showed again. I called the customer service line and told them the issue. He said he would reschedule right away. More than three weeks later I called and they said they canceled my service accidently. They reactivated it and another crew came out. They did a decent job and then, again, they went MIA. I called CS again and asked to speak to a manager. No one ever called back. Then I get charged $50. This service is not reliable, unprofessional, and too expensive for what you get.

I understand people having problems and can t get there, but there has to be another crew to cut my yard, it has been stalled off for a month. Very unhappy.

I do not recommend this company. I had bi-weekly services scheduled for the last month. The lawn mowing crew quit and the company continued to push my mow date back repeatedly with no explanation. After speaking with different representatives and getting the runaround I asked to speak with a manager. The representative stated The manager said they cannot speak with you right now. I have never heard of a manager refusing to speak with a PAYING customer. At that point I immediately canceled my services. Please beware!
Zero stars if possible. Run, do not walk, away from this absolute joke of a company. Don t know where to begin. Hired them for regular lawn care and a tree trimming. The first lawn guy destroyed my rain gutter trays and severed my fiber internet line. The same guy also trimmed my tree and completely sheared off half of my curb facing tree in the front yard. And didn t even properly trim the tree. Small branched still jutting out everyone, both trees were lopsided, and just looked absolutely horrendous. Then I get my second lawn cut yesterday. After two weeks of rain of course the grass was a little long and they charged me $95 (almost double the price) for a long grass fee . Not to mention the cut was terrible. Bald in some spots. Still long in others. This time they did at least move one gutter tray but they threw it right on top of my flower bed and left it there completely crushing my flowers. Trust me, I could go on. Customer service is a joke. Some guy named Jean Andre was completely rude to me this morning and just said no when I asked to speak to a manager. The app (where you handle everything - I ve had to call their infuriating automatic phone line every time) still does not work with some on boarding problem I reported a week ago to tech support with still no response. I RARELY ever get to the point where I m so infuriated with a service that I wrote a review. Do yourself a favor and find ANY other lawn service.
I have a bi-weekly mowing schedule with LawnStarter yet they haven t mowed my lawn in over a month and a half. Every time I contact them, a new service date is assigned. They then miss the service date and reassign the service for a new date. This cycle has happened five times in a row. I live in the heart of Austin, so my house is easy to get to yet they have been unable to provide the service they promised. Update: About 45 minutes after I left this review, LawnStarter (which I still had a scheduled service) canceled all services going forward. Not sure if it was a coincidence or if they canceled their services because I left a 1-star review
Worst experience ever. They left huge patches unmowed. They would let our grass go 3, sometimes 4 weeks without coming, leaving us to find another way to mow it, then come the next day and mow an already mowed lawn, then charge is full price. They were hilariously unreliable, they did a terrible job, and they were unprofessional. It s a joke. Def don t use them, it s a scam.
I signed up for LawnStarter about three weeks ago. My first service was supposed to be $25.00 off, but I was charged full price without explanation. 4 days after my second service I get an email advising that they are adding an additional trust and safety fee for their service. I dont trust this company at all. *UPDATE* Ive been using LawnStarter for about 5 years now. Over the past month, I have not been able to get a crew to come out and mow my yard. All of my service appointments continued to get rescheduled by the crew. Because of this, LawnStarter said that they would assign a different crew and waive any long grass fee. Over a week later, a new crew arrived, took pictures of my yard, left without mowing anything, and then quoted me an extra $50 long grass fee. My grass is still ridiculously overgrown simply because LawnStarter has refused to mow it.

My usual lawn person was unable to mow my yard, so I looked for a company that was somewhat larger, rated well, and would accept a credit card because I was unable to get to the bank. I requested this companys service based on an offer of $19.99. I only needed my front yard completed (roughly 20 x 15), so I thought this was a fair price. I received a link, stated my grass was between 6-12 (it was 10) and received confirmation of $19.99. The guy came out the next day, took quite a while taking pictures, then mowed/edged. He left it much longer than my guy does - Im assuming this is to have me request services more often) - and then left. About 5 minutes later, I received a request for review of my service person and tip. I complied immediately. About 12 hours later, I received an email that I would be charged an additional $50 for long grass. I emailed the company stating that I selected the 6-12 button and at no point was I told about this fee. We went back and forth through email and they still charged me $81 for just my small front yard. This place is a rip off. The positive comments on all review sites are so the person commenting can receive a discount on their service. Please read all of the negative reviews and make your decision from there.
I used LawnStarter for 3 years. The first crew I had was great - showed up on schedule, did great work, even skipped services with no charge if my tiny lawn didnt need work. After that team quit I had disappointing service with every crew. I cant count the number of times they said they did work and NOTHING was done. I could barely get customer service to help besides giving me $15. I dont know if they mowed a different yard or simply didnt show up to this day. I ended up cancelling because the service just wasnt reliable anymore. It really seems like the quality comes down to the crew you get which is a gamble. UPDATE: Lawn-starter reached out to correct the situation. The crew that came out was on time, communicated their dates and service and the mowing looks great. Im pleased with the customer service.
Property damage occured due to a mower they sent to my property, I filed a claim, they claim it was processed and sent to my bank account.
Their technicians are NOT respectful of neighbors property. Ive been listening to a leaf blower for hours only to see that tech blowing all of the leaves from one property, out into the street, then down to the end of the street where the wind picked them up and blew them onto 4-5 properties, including mine. They also blew most of the leaves onto a neighbors front and side yard while they werent home. :(
LawnStarter Company finds local people willing to mow your lawn for a low fee. Cost is about $50 for once a month. Horrible equipment owning amateurs show up and mowed missing large areas, uneven mowing, scalping areas, ruined part of lawn. After complaining they tried to find another landscaper that was a junk removal handyman entity. They didn t show. A third company came and took pictures of my home and property but did not mow. I think they were extras from The Treasure of The Sierra Madre. Equipment likely that old. LESSON: A CHEAP MAN PAYS TWICE. FIND A REPUTABLE LANDSCAPER. GO ELSEWHERE.
This is my second season using Lawnstarter. Its a great service for someone who, between work and classes, has a hard time maintaining their lawn.

You never know what crew you are going to get. Communication is bad... only upon complaints do they do anything. Went thru 5 different crews over a 3 cut commitment. No shows, showing up when not scheduled, and finally just poor quality. Trimmings not blown, weeds left in the grass and not mown. Guy showed up and never rang the bell or try to introduce himself before just coming into our backyard and scaring my daughter who was out there with the dog. He had headphones in so he didn t hear her yelling at him to wait. Customer service tries, but there s no continuity... spoke with 4 different people about one problem. Well, I paid for my three-mow minimum and I m outta there. The kid down the street could do no worse and for a lot cheaper. Sorry, but I do NOT recommend.
I hired this company to mow my lawn. As requested, I used their app to communicate with the person scheduled to cut the grass. I sent 5 messages. He never responded. He never showed up. The app reported that the job was complete and I would be charged. It took 45 minutes to get a customer service rep on the phone to help. They told me they d send someone out the next day. Again, that person never showed. It took an hour to get someone on the phone to cancel my account. I m not sure how this company has such high ratings. I certainly won t ever use or recommend them.

They are supposed to mow every two weeks, and this is week 5. They kept cancelling due to personal issues. My lawn looks horrible, and my poor dog has a hard time creating a path to go potty. Ugh!
So they came out when it was 10-15min before dark. Skipped our huge massive back yard. Then without our permission they put our services on hold till 2022. I messaged the team multiple times and received no response. It keeps saying our next visit will be March 24,2021 we are now in may. I have called their office and automated system puts me on hold roughly and hour each time and then I hang up because I have other things to do. I have called at all times of day morning afternoon and evening week day and weekend. Week day they are open till 10pm and weekend 6pm still dont pick up. DO NOT use this company horrible customer service.
Let me start by saying I rarely post reviews but the customer service my boyfriend and I received from Lawn Starter was some of the WORST we ve ever experienced. I reached out to Lawn Starter for a quote for a one time service and someone from their team said they d call me shortly. A day went by and nobody called so I texted him again and he again confirmed I d get a call that day. They didn t call. I followed up with him again and he told me to call their main line. At that point I reached someone over the phone and they said they didn t have availability to have someone mow before the date we needed it done by so I said we would find someone else. The next week, one of their salespeople spam called me three time in one day which was extremely unprofessional. We finally caved about a month later and my boyfriend reached out to them to schedule a trial of three lawn services. We had confirmed a day and they never showed. At about 7PM we got a message from them saying it was due to inclement weather (it was sunny all day without any clouds and no rain.) At that point, we had had enough of Lawn Starter and he cancelled the services. Despite him cancelling on a Friday and it being confirmed on their website, a team of people showed up on a Monday after we had just had our lawn done by another service. I told them that their services weren t required as we had cancelled. My boyfriend then comes to find out that he s on the hook for paying for the three lawn services despite cancelling them all due to the atrocious customer service we ve received. DO NOT USE LAWN STARTER!!!!
I requested a quote and they offered $19 for the first lawn service so I signed up. Since then I keep getting texts and emails to sign up for service when I already did. When I signed up and scheduled the first service on their web page it said Monday or Tuesday, then I received an email stating my lawn would be mowed on Thursday or Friday. Then the person came on Wednesday with no notice. Luckily, I was home and heard the lawnmower so I was able to unlock my gate to give access to the back yard. The service was ok. Per their website they require customers to have 3 services before dropping them. Im not sure if Id recommend them. Ill update after the next service.
Do not use them. I m not sure how this company is getting so many great reviews. We scheduled our service 10 days ago, were promised service on Monday, then Tuesday, then Thursday, then Friday, then Saturday. They still have not shown up, and we have spent 3+ hours on hold trying to get in contact with a representative.
First lawn service wasnt done as requested on their app. I asked for a short mow and for the crew to call before starting so I could be sure the dogs were inside. No call before starting and the mow left the grass longer than Ive ever mowed it before. I have tried requesting customer service on the app and am currently waiting to talk to someone by calling their number and have been on hold for nearly an hour! There is no way to reach anybody at this company. My lawn looks terribly overgrown bc they left it too long. What a SCAM!

Our lawn guy from LawnStarter delayed our mow by a week and then quit on short notice, so our lawn is overgrown. And then LawnStarter said they would get us a new crew, but they couldn t find and in our area, Northwest Austin. We will be looking for a new provider that can be more consistent. This is going to cost us because now our lawn is 2 weeks overgrown. Very Frustrating!

I called on a Monday and scheduled a 3 cut service starting that Friday. I got an email saying my agreement was cancelled due to lack of crew availability. I have two issues with that. 1) Why would you schedule me if you Don t have the manpower and 2) why not just call me and ask to at least reschedule . All they had to do was call and tell me they needed to come back Monday or Tuesday because things happened and their guys couldn t make it and it would ve been just fine. That s just poor scheduling and poor customer service . I don t recommend them.

Ive used Lawn Starter since January and never had an issue before now. In the past, they showed up on time, contacted me the day of if there was a reschedule, and seemed to be fairly responsive. My last service was scheduled for the beginning of May, and it has, since then, been cancelled twice without notifying me, rescheduled once without notifying me, and rescheduled once due to weather, notifying me two days after service was due. I dont know if something changed recently, but I would no longer recommend unless you have your own lawnmower for when they dont show up. The upside is they charge after service, so at least I dont have to chase the refund.
I ve had issues in the past with lawn guys not doing the job right, not showing up, or overcharging me. I signed up with LawnStarter and they ve shown up every time they re scheduled and do the job without and hassle for me. Also, being able to pay through the app instead of by check or cash is an A+ in my book.
I truly appreciate the no touch service, the crew that cuts my grass is professional, clean and quick. My grass looks beautiful and it is cut routinely without me having to painstakingly monitor every step, Payment is made so easy, and is taken care of after service is completed Via the app. I am so very happy with The crew that cuts my yard this service, APP and great price so far.

It s a great business model making it convenient for me. I don t have to chase down contractors over time as things happen. They manage the back end and the work gets done. I can set it up and see the services completed from my phone. If the contractor has a question I get a pop up alert from the app. Love it!
So far, so good! Their specialist set me up with a cutter. I ve never seen; I only know his name, BUT, I can communicate thru the app. He comes; he cuts; he leaves! I love it! It works for me. Tried another service and did NOT work well! The cutter would not return phone calls or emails!!! Awful! I will continue to use LawnStarter!

Used lawn starter for a while and no complaints so far about the work itself. Recently due to rain, my service is postponed and crew changed. Clouds have cleared but no one came to work on my yard and it has been 3 weeks. No crew assigned to my home. Called customer service and their lines are busy. Incredibly unprofessional
I was going out of town and needed lawn care. The service was easy to set up with one phone call. The app is simple to use. Communication is quick. The billing is transparent and the price is fair.
Everything was fine until they didnt come for 3 days after their scheduled window and then told me they couldnt service us anymore because there were too many requests in the area.

I scheduled a weekly lawn mowing service and they pushed it back for a week until finally cancelling. I called several times, and received no assistance. Very annoying.
Lawnstarter Austin is the worst mowing service to deal with. Do not waste your time because you have to manage everything they do.

Poor service from the first crew out. Gave them a second shot and it was just as bad. Had a different team assigned and on their second service with me, they marked my house as completed without even showing up. Called customer service and they claimed to refund the charge and that the crew should be out the next day. It s now going on the sixth day with no refund or service. Pathetic.
The short version: This app is a gamble. If youre lucky, youll get a great team like we had at our last property. If you arent, youll get a team who will ghost you for over half a year, and you wont get much help from the guys on the phone even after the issue gets escalated to a customer support supervisor. Do yourself a favor and pay the local neighbor kid to cut your grass instead. Youll support an entrepreneur / small business, probably pay about half as much, and save yourself a massive headache from dealing with LawnStarter. The long version: Since moving to a new address and getting assigned to Merceds team, he has cancelled the majority of services, often with little to no advanced notice. Since just January of this year alone, out of nearly 20 scheduled services he only fulfilled 3. I tried contacting him through the app and he never replied, then has cancelled another 3-4 services since. I requested a new team through the app and never heard anything back. I called last Wednesday (5 full days ago) and spoke to a rep who offered awesome customer service and said that he would forward the issue to a supervisor. Since that call, Ive received no further contact or updates and never heard even once from Tims supervisor. I tried replying to the routine customer service email I was sent per Tims instructions earlier today and did not receive any reply (update: I finally did get a reply... Almost a week later). Through all of this, our lawn has gotten totally out of control. Were finally getting calls from a concerned landlord saying our neighbors are complaining. Suffice to say, we wont be using this service ever again.
All they had to do was actually show up and mow my lawn once and not lie to me on the phone, and I would be reviewing them positively. I signed up with them last monday. They told me someone would be there thursday. It is now the following Wednesday 9 days later and: 1) 3 crews have cancelled on me 2) their customer support line is impossible to reach. Youll stay on hold forever 3) I have received two calls back ensuring me that a crew would be coming to my house that day who didn t come Unless you want an experience like mine don t use them. Total joke.

I tried to get lawn service from them but they simply never showed up - my service was canceled every week for 4 weeks - charged me an extra tall grass fee once they finally did show up but didnt do any service, they just wanted to quote me the extra fee, then delayed my service again, so I canceled my account and never actually got any service from them, and now my yard is a total jungle that is going to be extra expensive to have a new company service.
Revolving door of terrible lawn services subcontracted by LawnStarter. A lot of them just cancel repeatedly. The last one (Joe?) canceled 4x due to a myriad of reason (car trouble, overstay for niece s wedding) all of which we were flexible and replied back kindly. Then when we finally had the appt, they tried to over charge for long grass, double the cost a result from their own repeated cancellation. They didnt even bother to respond to request for clarification. Also its already difficult to get LawnStarter on the phone. Don t use them. Just do the leg work to get a better service.
Came out once - did not call beforehand, did a poor job and we were charged extra fees without explanation. They auto-scheduled another service, moved the time scheduled twice so when trying to cancel, it took 2 hours on hold on two phone calls to connect with anyone. They dont reply to messages in your account so customer support is the only way to get anything accomplished but only if have a few hours to wait on hold. This company is unprofessional and I would not recommend using them.

Big disconnect between the app ams the actual individual who was assigned the job. He never once has responded via the app. And the customer service is horrible the agent kept interrupting me while telling me conflicting information to what the original al sales agent told me and what is visible on the app. This is far from adequate. Don t use this service if yoy want a turnkey non frustrating experience.
Great service and they did an excellent job so I will continue using them every 2-weeks to keep my lawn nicely manicured highly recommended!
The quality of the service seems to have gone downhill. My crew ghosted me and customer service was unresponsive in helping me find a new crew. I waited several weeks and attempted to contact Lawnstarter multiple times before deciding to just cancel the service.
I have used LawnStarter for years with nothing but great experiences. However, when my usual crew was no longer available, communication and service completely broke down. It has now been 7 weeks since my lawn has been mowed and when I contacted customer service they told me they did not have an available team and I would just have to wait. When I explained that I have been waiting for weeks, their only response was that they would understand if I chose to use a different service in the future. Guess that s what I ll be doing!
The crew came only twice and the third time they started giving excuses like inclement weather if there is rain prediction. I can understand stand that! But if the weather is good this guys says personal problem and skips the lawn mowing! The last time they mowed our lawn was in May 5th 2021 and since then nothing but excuse and reschedules but no work!! The customer service tried to send a new crew and the new crew never contacted me! There s mis communication between the customer service and crew and customer! Horrible service !!!! Never ever going to hire them!!!!!!!

They showed up for the first service and it went great. But scheduling the second service was an absolute nightmare. In they end they never came but that was after almost a month and a half. As a sorry the company gave us a free service, but it expired because they took so long to show up.
First service they came on time. Second service never happened. They kept rescheduling for 2 months and at the end they send an email to day they cannot find a crew.
Our first service went off without a hitch, although at almost a 4x normal price hike up for long grass, which they originally insisted would only be 2x the price. The second service (or lack thereof) was truly a nightmare. First was a cancellation for rain (on a day where it didnt rain) and subsequent reschedule for a week later. Come a week later, and they now cancel for car trouble, understandable, but when attempting to contact customer support or use the Message My Crew feature on the app, I would get no responses whatsoever. The first response I finally got from customer service was a call about 5 minutes before they closed (while I was still at work, unable to take a call), asking me to call them back. Upon calling them back the next day, I had to wait almost 4 hours before finally getting a response, and the only help they could offer was that they would try to get a new team out, which they never did. Call back again a few days later, same situation only this time they also give me a voucher for a free mowing, which expired a week later after still receiving no service... The excuse was that all of the teams we contract out to are too busy with the volume of lawns that need to be mowed. The more wild part was last monday, I was able to call another independant mower (someone who they might contract out to), and he was able to do our lawn the next day, meanwhile I foolishly gave this company almost 2 months, and a good bit of money, for one measly service. Would not recommend.
My interactions with the crews have been extremely poor!!!! When I call the main LS Customer Service line the operators do not know if the worker assigned has the required talents/tools for the job. They also do not reach out to the crews personally - they tell you to use the app to reach out - however the crews take DAYS to respond and the responses are unprofessional. I would not recommend LS to anyone.
Horrible experience. Same as other people. Showed up almost a week late and wanted to charge us an overgrown grass fee which would not have been overgrown had any showed up when we had actually requested them to. A $30 quote turned into a $103 quote. Best part of it all is that the guy didn t even cut the grass! He came to our house when we were not there (because there was no communication that they were FINALLY showing up to do their job), took pictures of our lawn to prove that our grass was overgrown, and then left without actually cutting the grass! He then had the audacity to tell us that he DID cut our grass. We know he didn t mess up the wrong house because he literally took pictures of our house and lawn to show the grass was overgrown. Complete fraud. Long story short, just get a different lawn care service. So many companies are good and reliable about what they do, so why work with this one?
Apparently they just ignore their customer and don t come when they say they are going to come. Unprofessional, lousy service, don t follow up and disorganized.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Legitimately the worst lawn mowing service I have experienced- I have no idea how they are in business. They showed up ONCE and then continuously marked my service as complete without showing up / consistently rescheduled. For months. Even the return trips customer service booked various times apologetically to mow the lawn that was marked as complete and never mowed were no shows. They switched my lawn crew three times (all no shows) and do NOT look book quality providers. Customer service acknowledged their mistakes and told me how shocked they were at the terrible customer service including a lawn crew who had no showed various times, and when I messaged to confirm if they were coming by as it had been months of rescheduling they asked why can t you wait like everyone else? and that they were but you keep complaining - and yet never fixed anything. Lawn remains unmoved for MONTHS. I am switching providers, and waiting to hear back about a refund because they can only issue credit - what is the POINT of a credit if no one shows up for MONTHS? Beware if you are in an HOA community, they will completely no show you and leave you at risk of fines, etc, and run you in circles as a solution or simply mark services complete. Edit: In response to the comment from the company below- hi. Ive spoken to your customer service / remediation team 5+ times and been given the run around about how they would personally fix this and then continued to send me no shows, shuffle me around, etc. I have been given the run around trying to get a refund for my stolen money as everyone can only give me credit for services never rendered. Save the customer service spiel if its just consistent BS over the course of 2 months.

STOP , do not use. Experience was so bad. The marked the lawn complete when the did not show up, they rescheduled same day and did not show up, I gave them a third chance and they stated the would be out the next day and did not show up and marked issue fixed. I then cancelled service and they sent an apology however find out today my account was charged for service. Overall VERY BAD experience.

Lawn starter was truly awful from the start until they were quickly let go. Our lawn tech was awfully rude, missed 2x of his appointments and their customer service was almost worse then him. Repeatedly sending the same pre-made text and email responses and were never helpful or kind. Stay away and work with someone local.
To their credit, customer service was very helpful in cancelling my account when I decided to nope out of there. 2/10, wouldn t recommend.
NOTICE TO GOOGLE: Lawnstarter positions reviews of individual lawn crews under their own name which is likely a violation of Google Reviews TOS as they are misrepresenting reviews to drive business to their service unethically. They also do this with Yelp but I believe Yelp has fixed this. That said, Abun and his crew nail the job end to end - show up when promised (hard to find in Austin!!), do a full complete job and are very communicative when needed! Thank you Abun!
I hired LawnStater a few months ago. First crew were not showing as expected. I was ok with this as there was a lot of rain. Then, it became a common issue of rescheduling even when it wasnt raining. I asked for a new crew. The new crew did two really good mowing jobs and then the same thing started. No show and me trying to chase someone down. My credit card expired on the portal and I corrected it. In the meantime they cancelled my service. My fault. I wrote them and asked them to start it back up. I was told a new crew would be assigned. I checked in several times and was delayed as a new crew was still pending. Insert third crew in the matter of 2 months. I wrote to ask why they had still not mowed my yard as the service was marked complete on August 17th. My yard was NOT mowed. I have no idea what the status is. Now I have to file a dispute to get it done or, keep them from charging me while I find another provider. I have NEVER had such a difficult time with lawn service. I am a very patient person however, at this point I am being quite frustrated. My feelings are this company is horribly managed. I would not recommend them.
I wrote about my experience using LawnStarter for the past 2 years in another google review, rating LawnStarter poorly due to to their sloppiness. Katherine, an Experience Specialist from LawnStarter, reached out to me the next day apologizing for the lousy customer service and wanted another chance to rectify the poor customer experience. Its been a week since my emails with Katherine, and I have yet to contact anyone from the LawnStarter customer support team. I honestly dont think LawnStarter has any customer support team. Despite my many efforts to talk to someone from LawnStarter, I was forced to spend $700 to rectify LawnStarters mistake today. Even after I canceled their service last week, I was charged a mowing fee this week. I have no hope that they will give me my money back. Just a sheer waste of time - never using this service again!
The mower didn t show up at all. I called support, and they promised the mower would show up by sunset. It is now completely dark, and the support line is shut down. I will never trust this company again.
I had high hopes for LawnStarter, but it was a truly miserable experience from start to finish. I would give this negative stars if I could. My aunt needed help with lawncare at her home, so I helped her sign up for simple biweekly lawn mowing. Signing up was quick and easy enough, and all looked good at first - her home was assigned to a crew that was scheduled to come by 48 hours after signing up. However, the crew never showed up but at least sent a message with an excuse every day for a couple days before completely going silent. We then contacted customer support four times, each time speaking with an agent who promised a new crew would be assigned and would come mow the lawn within 48 hours of the request. However, to no ones surprise, no crew ever showed up. After a month of trying to get her lawn mowed to no avail, my aunt finally canceled her account and not once did she even get a service performed. The only positive thing I can say for the experience is that at least our credit card was never charged for a service that never happened, but thats a pretty low bar.

Hired them to do my yard and shrubs. First company came out. They marked a job complete when it wasnt. Then came back to finish. But then ghosted. So lawn starter sent out another company. New company scalped my yard in the middle of summer in Texas. They then left the lawn clippings on my patio out back (didnt even bother blowing it into the yard). Also trimmed my shrubs but left the trimmings on the shrubs and in my flower bed. So the clippings browned and made my already scalped yard look worse. I notified customer service to try to get a refund or at least a partial refund. They gave me the ring around and had me open tickets with different claims. But wouldnt give even a partial refund. Service was way over priced for really bad service. Will never use them again.
I wouldn t give them any starts if I was still able to leave them the review they deserve. False advertisement with being the #1 lawn care service in Austin. This company is absolute trash. We have a pit bull so we asked to be please notified in advance to someone showing up so they didn t get a rude awakening from our dog. Not one time did anyone reach out. They scalped our yard every time they came out and never mowed nor weedeated under our trampoline even though there are also notes in the account to cut no shorter than 3 inches and to get under the trampoline in the backyard. They showed up for the first three mandatory cuts but canceled the day of for the fourth, another crew said they were on their way and decided to skip us cause we didn t need it . We get our lawn cut every week (Wednesday or Thursday) due to HOA in our neighborhood. After we were skipped two days in a row they moved our schedule to 9/17-9/20. Surprise, it s now the 22nd and we are now six days past our usual cut day and no one has been out, notified us or rescheduled for a later time. Beyond frustrated I called to verify if we were still on the schedule, I was essentially told they will get to us when they get to us and the customer service rep continued to raise his voice and speak over me with an unbelievably unprofessional attitude as if I was inconveniencing him. I now received a letter from HOA stating our lawn is too high. Independent contractors from this company are unreliable and trash, my five year old can cut the grass and weed eat better than the service they provide. The company customer service is unprofessional, unable to resolve the simplest of problems, cannot give a valid timeline and don t care one bit about their customers 10/10 would NEVER recommend. Absolute TRASH!

The lawn mower broke my garage window. Its been a month and a half and despite several emails they still havent even attempted to reimburse me.
I scheduled a lawn mow on the 7th of November. It is now the 18th and my lawn is getting more overgrown by the day. First appointment was rescheduled with no communication. Second appointment was missed, again with no communication. I contacted customer service and they reassigned a different crew and..... big surprise... no show, no response to my message to the assigned crew... just long grass that I dont have the time to mow. I opted to use this service rather than take the time to hunt down a good crew and Ive wasted more of my time than it would have taken in the first place. Vet your crews better and/or dont try to operate in places where you dont have crews available.

They are the worst lawn care provider I have ever had. They did $650 worth of damage to some exterior plumbing and refused to pay for it after I did what their representative instructed me to before calling a plumber. I was told to retain a lawyer to speak with them further. Switched from monthly to bi-weekly service with no warning. Tried to charge me $657 in long grass fee in spite of having been my service provider for a year at the time. They have charged me as many as 3 times in the same month for services that are currently supposed to be no more frequently than bi-weekly during spring and summer.
Glad to have been referred to LawnStarter. Glad for hook-up with a provider who seems to address all my lawn care needs. Thanks.
