In the last few months, the TruGreen technicians who service our property in the Mechanicsville area have left a gate to our backyard wide open multiple times after leaving our property, resulting in our 1 year old golden retriever getting out. The gate they have left open each time (including the incident today) is in a blind spot from any door or window that looks out to our back yard. We live about a quarter mile from 301, so our dog could have very easily made it out to a highway with a 55 mph speed limit, and it terrifies me that theyve allowed this to happen more than once. The ridiculous part is that we did not even have any service completed today after speaking with the technician beforehand. It should not be very hard to remember when you enter a persons property through a gate, that you would close and latch that same gate on the way out. Management of the local branch seriously needs to reassess they way they train their technicians, because this kind of negligent behavior is going to result in someones pet getting killed. If you have pets, I would consider going with a different company for your grass and yard treatment.

I m absolutely pleased with the service provided by Johnnie Chow. With his expertise and experience he was able to determine a plan to better care of my lawn and effectively increase the quality of it.

True Green was at my home on Oct 28th to perform fertilization for winter season and to spray for weed control. Technician Johnnie Chow did an excellent job in completing above descriptions. I am a customer for 5 years since moving to Virginia and I cannot state anything negative about this company and its technicians. I will continue to use TrueGreen after my contract expires.

Their service is awful and doesnt work half of the time. My yard was still full of weeds, grass didnt grow in half of my back yard despite multiple years worth of aeration and seeding, and somehow, their free lawn and shrub evaluations still showed evidence of bug/insect damage to our plants despite them performing their service. Cancelling their service is a nightmare in of itself, and trying to get them to stop coming to your house after youve cancelled service is damn near impossible. Would not recommend getting involved.

Before we began using Tru Green Mosquito Defense we had a significant problem with mosquitoes because of the amount of water, estuarys and creeks surrounding our property. We have enjoyed mosquito-free days since using TruGreen! We especially like the service pro, Larry Connin.

Trugreen mosquito services is sub par, the only reason they are getting 4 stars is the tech Austin provided a great service. I have had trugreen at both my other homes, they always did the front and the back yards. Now it seems you have to ask for the to go in an unobstructed backyard.

Updated Aug 2, 2024 TruGreen never laid a pre-emergent and now I have foxtail grass throughout my lawn. Think twice about using them! If TruGreen had laid a pre-emergent when they were supposed to I would not be in his mess. It rained yesterday I hope that means TruGreen will be coming back in the next few days when the forecoast is for no rain. I appreciate the note about the non-Bahia (foxtail, dallisgrass, etc) grasses in my Bahia grass lawn. I am aware of this but these grasses are impossible to remove using post-emergent herbicides. Well, me and TruGreen, will have to deal with these grasses using pre-emergent herbicides when the time arrives to lay a pre-emergent.

Daryl and his helper did an excellent job, they did a through and complete job even thou they worked all day and my house was their last.

The Lawn Specialist (Johnnie Chow) is a true professional. He cared and treated my lawn as if it were his own. Today was my first time meeting him, and my wife informed me that since Ive been gone two specialists have been serving our lawn. Out of both gentlemen, Johnnie has been the professional who didnt put a face or act like he didnt want to be here. You can not talk to anyone local who is doing the work. They were supposed to come today and I waited and called and I was told it was canceled and rescheduled for a day I won t be here. My yard has a brown streak that appeared after they came. Go with a local company which is what I thought I was doing. I wouldn t recommend to anyone

TruGreen has greatly improved my lawn over several years of aeration/seeding, and fertilizing services. I would recommend if youre struggling to have a weed free, healthy lawn.

Weve been TruGreen customers for 5 years. Our yard was a disaster when we bought our house. We tried to fix it on our own for 2 years before we finally gave up and admitted it was time to call in professionals. I wish I had a before and after because they could totally use it for free advertising. The difference is unreal. Johnnie Chow has been our specialist fairly consistently the entire time and he is wonderful. He is fast but efficient, super friendly, and has kept us happy with our yard - and loyal as customers - for years.

Shakeira does our mosquito control and is always thoughtful and thorough with her application. This is our first year using Tru Green services and we are very pleased.

It was good experience working with trugreen. Specialist Johnnie C was very friendly and explain in details what he is going to do and what to do next.

Lawn looks great

This is my second year using TruGreen. My yard is not quite where I would like it to be, but we are making progress in the right direction. Johnny Chow is awesome! He is very polite, explains the treatment taking place well, and is patient with addressing my questions regarding treatment and my yard.

Mosquito Defense really keeps the mosquitoes out of our yard at a very reasonable price compared to other companies. The technicians arrive as scheduled and notify us when on their way and at the completion of the service. Johnnie Chow did the most recent application of the mosquito defense and did a thorough job of applying and explaining the application of the mosquito repellent.

Laery C is great in helping to create our beautiful lawn.

Ive been using TruGreen for several years now. Outside of the service they provide, I water my lawn, and I must say I have the best looking yard in the HOA. TruGreen is a great value and you can depend on them being there when they say they would..

The absolute worst customer service. Tried to contact the manager, did not get a respond. It is 100 degrees out and they are out here doing the seeding and aeration when it is supposed to be done in the fall (have been told by other TruGreen that came to my house to do other services multiple times). Now they are refusing to refund me for the terrible service. A Kimberly offered to refund 50% of it since the service had been performed and if I accepted that would be it. Called again, spoke to a Sherri at the Ashland branch who was dismissive, rude and refused to send me an email confirming the cancellation of my services (had the full package + the mosquito control). Going with Virginia Green now! terrible all around!

The two technicians arrived on time and introduced themselves. They were at my home to overseed my yard. They were here a little over two hours and did a good job. They used a need type of seed that requires less water which was great for because I rely on a well as my water source.

Johnnie Tech came out to my address on time, answered all my questions. He was very helpful with correcting any issues with my yard .

TruGreen aerated and seeded my backyard. The first time they performed services you could tell it was rushed and there were entire spots that were not aerated. The technician was in and out in 15 minutes. After leaving negative feedback, TruGreen called me and had the same technician come back and hit the spots that were left out. I appreciate TruGreen being responsive to try and remedy the situation promptly. The work was lower quality than other vendors I ve used in the past, so depending on cost I m not sure if I would use their services again.

We have used TruGreen in Ashland for several years for our summer mosquito program - program works like a charm and the service from the Ashland folks including Johnnie Chow this time around is on time and goes off without a hitch!

Swift and professional

The two men who did my service (Richard was one) did an excellent job. They were courteous, professional and efficient. I have not found the folk in the office to be efficient or courteous. Once one hung up on me. Another time one promised to send a redo and no one ever came. And it takes a while to actually speak to a person. The yard is not looking like I want it yet but hopefully it s coming along.

The last 3 treatments I ve had were some of the best to date.Lawn has done pretty good.

I m very happy with the service. We are concerned that with a sloped mostly dirt yard the grass seed may just roll downhill. With the expense of aeration and seeding we just want our yard condition to have a successful outcome

Trugreen for the money is the best value. The techs are very professional and very thorough in servicing my yard. The only issue that needs to be improved is scheduling service, very frustration when trudy does not call within the 45 day period between services and I have to contact scheduling to get my next service. Also, I would like to be able to get the same tech each and every time my yard is service so that I know they will do all of my yard. Nothing against True Green. I dont have the means to do my part in taking care of my yard to get the landscape of which I dream. I have hard surfaces with rocks and I need continuous watering. I cant afford to take care of either and True Green doesnt offer those services.
