909 Ocean Ave N, Asbury Park, NJ 07712, United States
Legendary spot, great venue, tons of space, awesome sound, multiple bars for easy access to drinks. (Also, yes there’s a coat check!) Be sure to snag some merch while you’re there as well.
Nice venue for live shows right across from the boardwalk. Tickets are affordable, security is polite and welcoming, sound and lighting are great for the price. There is parking next to the venue for $30, which was easy in and easy out. Know before you go that there is no place to sit and next to no food options in the venue (plenty of alcohol though). There were two bands so my son and I got there at 7:00pm and the show ended at 10:30pm. My son was tired of standing and there were continuous conversations of groups of people all around us making it hard to enjoy the show. It felt a bit more like a bar than a concert venue. We ended up leaving the show early (no re-entry) and sat outside on a blanket by the boardwalk and listened to the remainder of the show. Overall a good place to enjoy some inexpensive live music just know beforehand that if you want to see the band (there are also no screens), you won't be sitting on the lawn, or anywhere else.
there’s nothing i love more than getting called jersey trash by mother trixie mattell. they aren’t shy on their drink pouring which is always an added bonus!
This is an incredible venue. They had plenty of everything (food/drink booths, portable restrooms, etc.), lines were quick and smooth, and the staff were incredible. I would absolutely come to another event here.
Loved the venue and with the great location you can make a really fun day out of it. Walked the boardwalk, went on the beach, great food in the area. Tickets are sooo affordable for amazing acts. Entry was quick and staff was nice too. Overall the summer concert series is a gem! Only con was it’s super hard to see the stage once everyone’s crammed in, we ended going all the way to the back and the view was better than up close and we’ll do that for any future shows there! Great time
Stone Pony is a classic rundown historical bar with plenty of music history. You can always stop in for a t shirt. Summerstage is a different beast. Crowded, standing room only on harsh, hot cement isn’t for everyone. Plenty of beer served but the food and food trucks have alot to be desired. Eat before going in. Overall, the stage is fine, and sound is loud and easily heard. An understatement. Some fans actually listen across the street by the boardwalk. But they miss all the fun.
The venue was packed a bit too closely for my liking. The air flow was inadequate for the number of people inside as well, causing a situation where there was no place to get fresh air. If it was held outside, then all those issues would've been handled. The weather was good enough for that.
Great venue and easy location to navigate to. Sound and logistics are always on point. Have been here to see at least 15 shows now. Always look for talented acts to lure me back. Love Asbury, it's always such a good time. Security was easy, share was hard to come by on my last visit. The stage faces east, so you're looking west into setting sun for first half of most shows. Bring a hat or sunglasses or both depending on the forecast, and enjoy!!!!
Legendary venue in a cool beach town
Soooo fun. Great outdoor venue!!!
Great place to enjoy a night of great music
Ive been going to the Stone Pony for just over 20 years. The outside summer stage has changed so much in the last 2 decades. There are plenty of bathrooms, free water fill up tanks, some shows have food and extra bars. One annoying thing for smokers out in the world, although they do not allow smoking outside, there are people who still do vape outdoors. There Is no rentry even though there are multiple places with security where you can stand outside so if you need a break from the crowd youre not going to be able to get one. It is still my favorite venue but for those of you who havent been here in a while, things are a bit different
Bruuuuuce!!!
Such a great time. Security team was so nice on on top of things. Overall great iconic NJ place to visit!
Great venue
Great place for a concert. Saw Yacht Rock Review. 4500 happy people a beautiful night in Asbury Park. Lots of porta pottys and plenty of bars to get refreshments.
Saw The Reverend Horton Heat there. Drinks were great
Always a good time, sometimes overcrowded.
Saw Brett Young, great concert
Awesome venue
Was told staff would be around with water bottles since people couldn t really move with how crowded it was; that didn t happen. People were getting lightheaded and dehydrated and there wasn t any staffing helping out. Parking was a crapshoot as well. Stage itself was cool though, and we got decently close. They didn t check anybody who didn t have bags though, no metal detectors which was odd.
This place is awesome ! The drinks are reasonable friendly place
Always a blast! I was SO HAPPY to see New Found Glory tonight; what a great show!
Atmosphere was great and security was good so we felt safe!
Just want to shout out the staff at The Stone Pony Summer Stage and their security there. We took our 3 year old to her first concert on Sunday which ended up being a sold out show, I should also note I m also 8 months pregnant. They quickly spotted us and offered us a spot on the side of the stage near the handicapped area, and made sure myself and my daughter had water and a chair if needed. We watched as they pulled many folks from the crowd who may have been handicapped or having a hard time navigating the crowd and moved them into a safer space, they also made sure to hand out free waters to all guests (not just handicapped or vips) to make sure everyone was safe and hydrated. We absolutely love this venue regardless, but the staff and security truly goes above and beyond to make sure everyone there is safe and enjoying their experience. 10/10 will always and forever recommend this venue.
Great place to see a show!
Awesome experience, had barricade to see one of my favorite bands. Security was awesome and the venue itself was cool.
Its a nice venue by the beach with some great artists but boy are their bouncers aggressive! I watched them slap a drink out of a mans hand then they dragged him out a back door while holding both his hands. While his hands were being held all the bouncers were punching him in his head and body. Total abuse of authority.
Best prices for the BEST summer music. They dont even try to block the boardwalk if you cant afford a ticket. I love the summer stage. Had to edit my review. Still love the music but Ill likely be doing it from the boardwalk from here on in. There was no chance the O.A.R. Concert wasnt oversold. It was people ontop of people, blocking the toilets. Moving anywhere, even to just get a drink at the bar, was a fight. Almost Queens concert seemed even worse with the overcrowding. The janky security ladies stole our e-cig and started squacking at us when we confronted them about it. If we werent allowed e-cig they could have just told us and we would have left the venue but we didnt find out it was missing from our bag until we were went to get our wallets to buy drinks. Absolutely pathetic. This place is getting to be too much trouble, its cheaper and easier to get a blanket to sit on the grass next to the Mogo stall on the boardwalk.
Ive been to a lot of good shows at Stone Pony over the years (hence more than 1 star), but it has gone down hill to the point of being unbearable. Our last visit (for Almsot Queen on Fri 8/30/24) will indeed be our last. One of the older ladies working bag check actually stole my vape pen on the way in without saying anything! When I came back to get my property once i realized it was missing, she told me it wasnt allowed in. I told her we were leaving anyway...she then proceeded to try to snatch it back from me! The audacity of trying to steal peoples property under the guise of security is just ridiculous. Sad old ladies on a power trip. As if that wasnt bad enough, the recent shows have been overcrowded and dangerous. Dont waste your time or money, and just listen from the beach across the street.
Great venue!
Good fun, just be prepared to stand up for the entire time. Bar area had lots of cool stuff on display
Great venue and cool history!
Hasnt changer is 30 years.
Mostly an enjoyable experience. The food was good. The show was good. The porta potty situation isnt great but thats more on the people who use them than the venue. Crowd gets tough to navigate. Hard to see if youre not 65. Im not.
Its alright. You will enjoy it better outside. Sardines inside.
Always a Great TIME!!!!
Great reason to enjoy the jersey shore, ocean
Oversell their shows by a lot, but great artists and music. Best to not buy tickets and to hang out on the beach/at a local bar outside.
Was at DSO last night. Took an hour to get in show started with hundreds in line. Security said was not oversold just sold out. If that s true than they need to lower capacity from 4,500. Was a dangerous situation as there was no were to move or go without being n top of others. Tried to hang in back but then they were making people stay on one side of line. I left and would never pay to see a concert here again. You can hang out by boardwalk and hear just fine. No reason to pay to be treated like cattle. This was a total disgrace and display of corporate greed on major scale.
Wonderful stage. It is more an experience than a venue. What an amazing place to see a show
DSO.....
Bouncing souls rules
Best venue in NJ
Always amazing here!
We had tickets for Dark Star Orchestra. Great venue. Plenty of beer, wine and cocktail offerings. Bathroom facilities (porta potties). Plenty of security. Loved it!!
A very Kool spot.
Tpain performed, then Alexander Simone and Quint Essence performed at the after-party across the street at the Break!
Nice outdoor venue. Great for concerts. I prefer the Summer Stage over the indoor one, too small.
Awesome summer concert Needs a place to sit And more bathrooms
Never again! They completely oversell the summer stage so that it s unbearable. If you don t mind being jammed shoulder to shoulder with drunk people in the 100 degree heat with over priced drinks and bouncers with attitudes, go right ahead. Maybe if they had some fans and we weren t packed in all the way to the porta potties, it would ve been different but for me, it s a hard no! One and done.
Always great to see shows here. I simply cant go back to indoor concerts. The Summer Stage as spoiled me too much.
Place was clean, including the port a potties, fast service.
Always loved this venue. It s the perfect mix of intimate, and large crowd capacity, it s clean , plenty of food , drinks, bathrooms, merch stands and parking is easy. and best of all it s right on the beach with plenty of other near by places to pre and post game at! The beach nearby is gorgeous and clean as well. Not a ton of riff raff like you may find at other venues. I ve been to a ton of different places in different cities and states and stone pony is by far one of my top 3! Thank you to Rockin Robin lane and the Wrat radio station for hooking me up with the free tickets to see The Used !!
Where the legends bands are born .
I have been to MANY concerts and MANY at this particular venue and never have I ever experienced such unprofessional security. On the original Sad Summer date, a male security guard approached me and said you got Snapchat to verify my ID. Verifying an ID is FINE, however it s inappropriate to ask for social media in any capacity and this actually verifies nothing. This made me very uncomfortable. Today, the security guard accused me of having a fake ID, bent it in his hand and repeatedly questioned were you here today, have you been here this year, and this looks like a fake ID . I would have been COMPLETELY FINE with him running it under the scanner to verify it, which I actually suggested, but he refused to leave me alone until my male partner showed his own ID. The female security guard who checked me was wonderful though :)
Its cool how intimate you can be with the band, but Ill probably never go back. Im way too old to stand from 530pm to 1130pm. My body is killing me, lol. All the staff was great. Its a nice location, too.
Had a great time!
I stayed at the Empress hotel and got to watch the band playing live at The Stone Pony from my balcony.
Tpain concert was awesome followed by an awesome after party at The Break with Alexander Simone and Who Dat Bgvs!
It s a great vibe, parking is an adventure but it can be done. Second time and waiting to get tickets for the third. This is our Church J.A.
Great time lovely location by the beach!!
Cool spot
Beautiful setting at the legendary concert venue.
What a great venue for a concert. Its nostalgic, run efficiently....great indoors and out.
One of the Centers of Activity on the Beautiful BOARDWALK OF ASBURY PARK, NJ 07712
Great place for a show on a nice summer night. Sick venue. Easy street parking nearby. Enjoy the ocean views before going in.
Summer stage is great. Moe. Was fabulous
Do yourself a favor and go see a show here!
Even outside, near the beach--cant see a thing, it was a thrill to be out there listening with a small crowd on blankets and beach chairs. It was my first time. At some point maybe Ill go to an actual inside event?
I looked up directions for it. It was amazing I just might do it again
Some of the security people are weird but otherwise always a wonderful venue to be in.
What a great place for a concert. Get there early and enjoy the boardwalk.
this venue is amazing. the staff is so friendly, it s very clean, lots of bathrooms and food options outside. they also have free water stations! everything on the boardwalk right behind the stage is open late and the vibe is completely different than any other venue i ve been to (there s a lot). definitely one of my new favorites.
Great place for music concerts.
Awesome venue. Great access to bars, stage very visible, sound fantastic.
Great place to see a show!
Karen and Gina are THE BEST!! so friendly, funny, and great bartenders! Go see them at the entrance for a smile and an ice cold bevy!
A Victim of its Own Success: We ve seen a bunch of great shows at the Summer Stage, but tonight s DSO show (7/21/24) is probably the last. Too many people and no space to enjoy the show.
Great venue
Had the most fun! Parking was easy, actually everything was easy, the band was on fire! The boardwalk and restaurants not too crowded .... all good, wear proper footware for dancing on pavement
Best part of this place is everything around it. This place is a reverse pearl. An amazing outer shell of Asbury Park, with a rotten, cop-ridden pit called the stone pony summer stage. Was walking around the building to enter and was glared at by the entire police force. Place was looking and feeling like a prison. Buddy was inside already for a event that ran from 4pm until close, and they had no re-entry (more jail vibes) so youre captured, which is dystopian and not freedom. Simple as. I did not continue to enter after I couldnt bring my buddy in some food, so we decided to leave and was told by the security to not come back so yeah I guess we wont be. Much nicer in the grass or sand, with lots of food options and way less security breathing down your neck. Dont bother seeing a show inside, less money in ticketmasters pocket at the end of the day and youll have a better view of the sunshine and ocean.
Always a good time here! Been going for years
Cold day, but they cant control that. Good layout. Easy in, easy out.
Purple disco machine ,,,,, Matt Suave really played his heart out for 3 1/2 hrs..... I was really anticipating a grand show from you!! Your dance squad was amazing but I feel Ive heard your same set so many times on the net.... then to pay good money for only 1hr 1/2 set??? Really bro youve crossed the ocean just to give us a show that was meh .. thank you though I appreciate you! Peace love and house music!!!
Pick a venue you like and enjoy! Very nice accommodations. No waiting for cocktails or snacks. Plenty of bathrooms and an overall great experience. Ticket prices are very reasonable also!
Summer stage is a great place to see a show. The staff is great. Security is great. Food and drink aplenty. Top quality acts of all music genres play there. Just get there early because Asbury is a tough place to find parking.
Night 2 of Fletcher and Friends! Roomy, able to get pretty close and the drinks were reasonably priced! Good times!
This is by far the worst punk venue i have ever been to. The normal/indoor pony is great for what it is, but seeing a show at the outside venue is hell. I have seen over a dozen shows here, letting myself believe that THIS TIME the show will be fine. Seeing a show here is the closest you will ever feel to being a prisoner seeing Johnny cash in san quentin
I was there for the book signing of The Oral History of the Stone Pony. What a special night! Great place! Great Music! Friendly and very helpful and professional staff!
Sunsets and music by the sea
Mythical! Rock n roll atmosphere
Best concert venue in Jersey
Great venue for a live show by the shore! Plenty of bars, restrooms spread around the venue. Not a big fan of standing on pavement for hours on end, but that s a personal issue. Also I think they are a little strict with the no re entry rule. My only real gripe was that my Apple Wallet tickets could not be read by the Stone Pony scanner after several attempts. New iphone 15, latest ios update, battery full etc.. Was not happy to hold up the line while I fumbled around and eventually had to log in to ticketmaster to get the barcode. Not sure if this is a stone pony issue or a wallet issue, but something needs to be fixed. Lets join the 21st century people, should not be this hard.
Stone Pony Summer Stage is a one of a kind destination for outdoor show experiences on the shore. Highly recommend.
Always very fun
Great intimate venue thats adjacent to the beach. Wear your comfortable shoes, as youll be standing on pavement for the entirety of the concert. If theres a band you wanna see thats playing there, do it. Youll be mostly sun exposed, but theres the indoor bar section that can give you a reprieve in the summer months.
Good sound. Interior is great. Good bar layout
Security was a mess. They had like 5 different people checking IDs and the live was still backed up. The male security guards pushed me to a female security guard who freaked out about the candy in my purse (I have low blood sugar issues so I keep like Hershey kisses & lollipops on me) and security took all of it and laughed when I tried to explain its not even food. Ive been to bigger shows/events with more serious security who doesnt care about that kinda stuff. Security has effectively ruined a historic music venue over absolutely nothing. Pretty sad.
It was super cool to have an outdoor venue near the beach. Even if the weather wasnt great lol. The only thing is as this is outdoor the sound quality isnt perfect but this night rocked nevertheless
3/5 because they don t allow re-entry. My husband had to get his medication as we left in care on accident and they declined re-entry. We ended up missing the concert.. great venue, food on sight and plenty of drink options.
Best concert stage EVER!
Cool venue on the beach
We went here to see Demi Lovato last summer. She was okay, but it was Stone Pony that made it memorable
Always great venue in the summer! Great sound and view throughout
An iconic and ridiculously fun venue. The boardwalk is great for a pre-show bite and you can hear any show from anywhere in town if youre just looking to hang out and overhear amazing bands.
Watching and listening from The Empress. Pretty sweet. Grateful Dead jamming... Might be a cover band.
Grateful to have seen many shows at this historic venue. Nothing beats seeing your favorite band yam out while the sun is setting behind the stage then into the night for an awesome light show. So definitely bring a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes.
One of my fave places to see a show! Seen Black Crows, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night sweats June 2022 and will be back June 2024 to see Lake Street Dive and cant wait.
Catch about 5-6 concerts a year at the summer stage. Best venue in NJ!
One of the best places to catch a concert in summer in Jersey. Vibes are perfect
Great place to see a show.
The concert itself was fantastic, we saw Young the Giant. But why the heck did they keep us outside the venue waiting for an HOUR AND A HALF, for a passing 20 minute thunderstorm?!? Not happy about that. The main band played a short set.
By far, the worst venue Ive ever been to! Packed in like sardines! Zero room to wiggle at all, let alone dance. Unless you are 8 foot tall, you cant see the stage at all! I took these pictures by reaching as far up as I could. NOT EVEN A SCREEN! To see them. Everyone on the outside with lawn chairs had a way better time. The sound was even better outside the caged parking lot venue! I put up my incubus tickets for sale in the venue! Ill NEVER EVER BE BACK!
Great night - the B52s put on an amazing show!
Fun venue but always so crowded
Great evening, sore feet though.
Saw the B-52s... Show was great and had fun ... but... Note for the short folks... They pack the crowd in very tight... the short folks can hardly see the stage amongst all the talls you are packed in with.... you are constantly getting bumped around by the people trying to get thru the crowd... It was my first time inside the summer sounds stage..... My takeaway - It was a nice and fun night, but Im going back to the boardwalk.....
I recently attended the Stick Figure reggae concert at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. The bands performance was nothing short of amazing, bringing so much joy and positive energy to everyone in the audience. The rhythm throughout the concert was simply fantastic, keeping everyone engaged and dancing all night long. The melodic songs played by Stick Figure were a true delight to the ears. Each song seemed like a masterpiece, beautifully crafted and delivered with passion. The combination of catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics created an immersive and uplifting atmosphere that resonated with the crowd. One of the highlights of the concert was the mind-blowing guitar solos. The bands lead guitarist showcased exceptional talent and skill, leaving the audience in awe with every intricate note. The guitar solos added an extra layer of excitement and showcased the bands musical prowess. Overall, Stick Figure delivered an unforgettable performance that exceeded all expectations. Their reggae music was a perfect blend of positivity, talent, and sheer enjoyment. It was a night filled with infectious energy and memorable moments. I highly recommend experiencing a Stick Figure concert at the Stone Pony or any other venue if you get the chance its an experience that will leave you uplifted and wanting more.
Saw b-52s. Good drink and food selection. Is general access so get there early. Overall a well run venue
Nothing better than coming to a show at the Stone Pony Summer Stage. Beach vibes all day and hit the show afterwards. Fun town, great iconic venue! I try to make at least once a year as it is a couple hours away from me. Always worth it!!!
Great outdoor venue at the beach.
Love this outside venue
cold and windy by the water but what a fun historic place!
One of my favorite venues for summer concerts. I ve always had a smooth experience with the entry/exit process. They have everything laid out well.
Venue was great. B-52s were great. Also had a chance to stroll down memory lane as I thought of my college days when I would stop in to see local bands.
Great staff. Fun place.
I love this place
Love watching bands play here, great vibes its right near the oceanfront for a nice cool breeze. I got to see Soja here a few years back and recently say elovator pepper and stick figure which was amazing im definitely staying down there next time for the beach!!
Pave paradise, put up a parking lot, then decide its a concert space. The Pony is iconic and an intimate outdoor venue, but the older I get, the harder it is to stand around on concrete for hours.
Always a treat. Well run venue. Easy to enjoy both inside as well as across the street
the venue and staff were nice, but this particular show was sold out, then over-packed past capacity
Never had to wait in a line for drinks or port a potty.
Venue and security was awful, got to a spot where we just couldnt move from because it was way oversold. Security were AGGRESSIVE. They were running through the crowds barreling through people. Saw a few of them just pick fights with random people for no reason at all. Terrible people on a power trip. When people sat down during set break, it was 90 something degrees out and humid, they were yelling to throw people out. That coupled with no water refill was asking for people to pass out. Will never pay for a show there again, maybe hangout on the boardwalk and catch the whole show instead of paying to be manhandled and uncomfortable the whole time
Very nice and clean beach .
This was the worst experience of my life. We made it 3 songs in and left. There is zero, I mean zero concern for anyone s safety!! You will be stepped on, kicked and trampled and security will not do squat about it. This was a seriously disappointing experience for a band I wanted to see live for the past 20 years. I just want my $50 back, I will never return here and I strongly discourage anyone from ever seeing a show here. I don t even know why there is a bag/security check - the amount of drugs being passed around, exhaled and injected was absolutely sickening. Why even have a security check if you re not going to enforce it.
Wonderful staff. Smaller venue but sound was fabulous for Goose.
The venue usually has very good acts performing. On a nice summer evening its a delight to be there. I never eat or drink there so I cant attest to the quality of the food, beer and soda come in cans. My only issue is the crowds, for some reason their conversations are much more than the music. They need to be quiet and more respectful of the artist.
Flat, asphalt parking lot with no shade. Security was aggressive by putting hands on womens bras and scoping the crowd from perches inside. Next time I will stay on the grassy knoll by the boardwalk to listen to a concert. Stone Pony will not get another dime of my money. Goose the band put on a great show despite the hassles.
They definitely oversell events here, it was so packed and hot you could barely move and had people streaming through the crowd all night. They also are a little overzealous with bag checking. I wish they had some screens for people in the back to be able to see the band, I saw nothing the entire time. We had fun, it was a good show, and the venue is in a cool location near the beach. The nicest part was that water was $3 and we could hear and enjoy from outside the venue when we left during the 2nd set.
This is one of my favorite places to see a show. The atmosphere is full of energy, you can get as close as you want to the stage. You can also hang back and still enjoy the show from almost all outdoor locations. I ve never had more fun at a venue and will continue to attend shows here all summer long. There are plenty of stands to get drinks, the lines were not bad given the most recent show I attended was sold out. If you go you will not be disappointed and it s one of the most historic music venues in all of NJ so enjoy
Great time good set up didnt really have to wait in line. Bathrooms are gross. They should be outside in the parking lot.
Listened on grass for free.
Great jersey vibes and the sound is incredible!
Honestly, I viewed from across the parking lot, but it definitely sounded very good. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Right across from the beach and boardwalk.
Great show to see trey anastasio band
Fun venue close to beach. Was very packed last time we went, but still great venue.
Recently went here for the first time and overall its a good venue. Despite the line wrapping all the way around the block we got in pretty quickly. They dont have absurdly small bag limit sizes like most venues nowadays which is nice. Sound and ability to view the stage seems good throughout the venue. I dont love how close the bathrooms (Porta potty) are to the main area, because I can imagine at a more crowded show itd be hard to access or wait in line. The cocktail drinks seemed cheap (we didnt get them so not how strong they actually were), and the beers were on par with other venue pricing. Security also takes their jobs a little too seriously. Ive always seen people sit on the ground in between sets in a GA show, especially in the back. Security made people stand up which just seems unnecessary. Id come back to this venue for sure because overall it was a good experience.
Love the place for concerts. Right near the beach so you can walk the boardwalk and hang on the beach after concerts. Tons of great restaurants in the area too!
Had a great time seeing the Rev Horton heat!
Awesome outdoor venue with reasonable drink prices and awesome vibes all around. This place is a jersey shore staple. The original stone pony indoor venue is a classic icon/venue and so glad they were able to create an outdoor venue. The sound quality was great and the band lineups are pretty good too! Very easy to get to with very easy parking. So nice to have a backyard venue near my home!
Great location for a venue, right near beach and boardwalk.
Great beach venue with relaxed vibes, above average sound for the venue type, and customer friendly drink prices. The lines can get long to enter but move efficiently.
Mixed signals from the venues management and security led to an abysmal queuing experience in the morning of the show. Youd think that a venue this old and well-known would be better prepared for a large show with an intense fanbase. Security was reasonable but inadequate in preparation and in number, police seemed clueless, and decisions were being made on the spot that irritated both the fans and the venue staff. The answers posted on The Stone Pony social media turned out to be false and unenforceable (largely, I suspect, due to poor planning and a staff shortage). Ultimately, the security didnt honor the venues no-camping, first-come policy, nor the fan line, leaving everyone with a randomly assigned wristband number and rightfully annoyed. Fortunately, they at least honored these random wristbands and lined everyone up relatively successfully, so everything went a lot more smoothly in the afternoon. The interior of the venue was pleasant and had refreshments, water, and restrooms. Security was very helpful, showed concern for the well-being of the audience, and had control of the crowd. This review is about the venue, not the artist, but I have to say that the concert was incredible. I understand that overzealous fans can be a lot to handle. In the future, please just choose a policy for camping/lining up/wristbands and stick with it. Aside from woeful lack of preparation, there is almost never reason to be changing plans the morning/afternoon of a show (in extreme heat!) that people have been looking forward to for months.
No seating. No bathrooms; only port-a-potties. Re-entry not allowed. Parking is very limited. Smoking is allowed, so the place is disgusting. Water bottles must be empty upon entry but they do provide a free water refill station. Overall, I had a very unpleasant experience. Wish I hadnt gone. Will not return.
DSO!.......AWESOME SHOW
Dark Star Orchestra put on one hell of a show last night. Always a great time, great show and great people all around.
This place just gets better and better
Amazing venue
Five stars for the water refill station alone. Bring your own empty bottle and you will never thirst. Bars on all sides, and also a food tent. Plenty of porta potties whose cleanliness likely depends on the event/crowd. No issues parking. I chose a $30 municipal lot but probably couldve found cheaper metered street parking if I had more time to look. Great visibility due to high stage and slightly sloping lot. Sound was ok. Some clipping and interference. Mix was not great but probably wouldve sounded better further back towards the sound engineer (I was pretty close to the stage).
The artists werent allowed to curse
Oh yrah...Mammouth WVH...Sevendust, Alter Bridge.Tore the pla e down.Great show!!!!
Great
Great smaller venue. Decent prices for beers, as far as concerts go
Cool outdoor venue just off the beach. Its easy to get in and out. Parking is an issue in summer so be prepared.
Awesome venue. Not enough shade.
I dont have a lot to say bad about this venue. I just really wish they had more variety of food stands. Also more drink options and some detailed drink selections. Other than that, we had a fantastic time. That live Incubus concert was the best thing Ive ever experienced in my life!
Great outdoor venue by the beach. Holds about 3k with plenty of bathrooms, bars and food. Security, management and guest services were all very professional, kind and helpful. One of the best managed live events I ve been to in my lifetime. Incubus was amazing.
Came here from NYC and it was awesome. You can spend time by the beach and get to your show easily. Parking is metered. Staff was easygoing and polite. Security stopped fights before it started. They have plenty of stalls for drinks (water is $3). Plenty portapotties. Sound was clear. Playing: Paris Jackson, Badflower & Incubus!
Great outdoor concert venue. Little sunny behind the stage at sunset, so bring your sunglasses. Sound was great, good vibes, good drinks, all around great time!
Place was an awesome venue with a great vibe
The show was awesome, the place was not so good, there was no parking, the inside was so crowded you could not move, even in front of the bar areas. Garbage was all over the ground everywhere, was not happy with the place
Awesome summer stage, right near the boardwalk. Decent priced beers and plenty of room for shows
Great venue, intimate setting. Good food also.
Cool venue with lots of great bands. The drinks are pretty reasonable and the summer stage is really cool.
Best viewing, so close to stage! And it is right across from the boardwalk! if you get there early enough (and I mean like 30 min to an hour) depending on whose preforming, it feels like you can touch them!
No Ada accessible seating outside of the first aid area.
Great venue! Outdoor space is amazing! Went for the Abba Disco party!
I did not like the music and left the concert
My Uncle and I saw the Matthew Curry Band and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes last night at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park New Jersey, and it was delightful. First time at this venue and it was great. There were at least five different bars outside. Roccos pizza had cookies, a couple of sandwiches, and pizza. There is an inside/outside feel in one section of the summer stafe where if they open the doors to go inside you can be outside and hear music on the outside. Cant wait to go back and catch another show. Thank you to everyone at Live Nation and The Stone Pony!
Excellent concert location.
Sat on the lawn outside the stage. Great spot on a summer night. Although you cant see the performers the acoustics are great
Plenty of food and outside bars are spread out. Great band selections too!
Too many people.
Cramped, overcrowded, dirty and the people who attend the shows are the worst people on the planet. Drunken, obnoxious morons who will stand in front of you and talk during the music. Absolutely ZERO security. Just one police officer at the front door making sure no one leaves with alcohol. You will not feel safe here!!!!!! Absolutely no timing. Doors were supposed to be 5:00pm with a 5:30pm show time. Doors didn t open until 5:30pm and the show did not start until 6:30pm. Very cramped, overcrowded area. Absolutely no room to move or dance. I couldn t even lift my arm without hitting the guy next to me. Stage view is t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e. Ground is flat all around so you probably won t see the band. Also, why spend money to stare at the back of someone s head all night??? You can sit in the parking lot and hear everything and see better for FREE! They seemed to be having a great time in the parking lot.
Psychedelic Furs and Squeeze!! The 80s live!!
Awesome show
Awesome place and Great LED Zeppelin and Queen Cover Band. THEY ROCKED
Wonderful venue. Unfortunately Ive only had the opportunity to visit here once. Weather depending, it is a great place for concerts. Right next to the beach. Follow for more..
Stage is obviously not high enough for anyone shorter than 6 2 to see clearly . I can t imagine why this hasn t been addressed. Or, oh wait: I have a novel idea! How about screens like I ve seen at every other outdoor venue I ve been to?
Good place to watch a band. Your seats dont matter. You probably wont be able to get to your spot. No seats. Stand by the bar. If you just want to listen to the music get there early and, put a chair on grass right outside the Stone Pony.
Great performances by Lez Zeppelin and Almost Queen!!
This guy decided to put his hands on me just to get his rocks off at the stone pony. I asked to speak to a supervisor for an apology and this was the response. He tried to knock my girlfriend s phone out of her hands for taking this picture, and then got his supervisor, Kyle, to kick me out because he can and it s private property . Then him and 4 other guards told me they were gonna assault me and call the cops to press charges on me, again because they can . He then threw the n word at me a few times literally asking me to call him racial slurs so he can hit me. (Have it on video) Never giving this place another dollar thanks to these , if he treats a dead sober person asking for reason like this god knows how he treats other fans. After posting this on Facebook I had multiple people tell me similar experiences with him, including one girl he threw over a rail and broke her arm. She has pictures as well. Good to know because it s private property assault is okay! Great job stone pony
Great venue. Security was awesome, broke up a few fights, cared for the crowd surfers. Drinks were quick. Nothing to complain about
Great place to see a show!
Me and my friends went to the Stone Pony Summer Stage for the first time on September 30th, to go see Dance Gavin Dance on there Jackpot Juicer Tour. We trekked down from Albany NY to Asbury Park NJ, and when we got to the venue I was very impressed. We arrived at the venue around 2:30 for a 5:30 doors and 6:30 show. So we decided to take the extra time and walk around. The beach and ocean is no lie maybe a 2 minute walk (literally across the street from the venue), with a boardwalk and many touristy things to go (mini golf, arcades, many food places, and more). Not only is the Stone Pony the only venue nearby, Asbury Park Lanes and The Paramount Theater are two other venues within eyesight of The Stone Pony, so many choices for music venues when you come to Asbury Park NJ! The venue staff were great and friendly, especially security. The layout of the venue was easy to navigate, an outside stage with a couple drink stations and a indoor merch booth. Overall our experience was awesome, the only thing I would recommend for us to do next time is 1: come back in the summer when it s warmer outside and 2: make it a week or weekend trip. With many hotels in the area and many other things and places to go to, you can easily make this a weekend trip! We will be coming back whenever we can!
Awesome time!
GA can get a good spot near the stage
Went to see Dance Gavin Dance! Great place to see performance. You might have to pay for parking since its Asbury Park so make sure you use whatever app it is so you can add time if needed!!!! Oh yah I crowd surfed ya dig
Great historic venue. Routinely oversold and packed full, but has a nice outdoor smoking area and nice staff. Reasonable drinks and good artists.
Getting in was easy, and vendors within the venue were good! Always a fun time!
The best venue!
