I ordered three pallets of sod from Houston Grass to repair damaged areas of my lawn. I ordered two pallets of St Augustine Cobalt for the shady areas under a live oak and on the north side of my house and one pallet of St. Augustine Raliegh for sunnier areas on the west side of my house that needed repair after the dry 2023 season. The Cobalt sod arrived in excellent condition and rapidly established itself. It looks very good at this point. I have plans to trim the live oak tree, so the grass is less shaded. So far, I am very happy with it, but Ill know more in autumn. Some of the Raliegh sod was not in excellent condition when it arrived. There were several layers of yellow sod and some of the sod looked grey. I was concerned that the grey color was caused by a fungus. Even though the Raliegh sod did not look as good as the Cobalt, it seems to have established itself very well, and the off-color pieces rapidly greened up. At this time, I am happy with the Raliegh sod in the sunnier areas of the lawn. Now, I need several more pieces of St. Augustine Cobalt because a city crew if digging up the lawn to replace a leaking water meter. I am sure the new sod appreciated the slow leak.

Outstanding Service from these great folks at Houston Grass. Everyone was so polite and very efficient at getting you in and out with the grass you wanted. The Grass was in mint condition, with a perfectly beautiful black sod bottom with Great looking Texas A&M Cobalt grass attached. No brown blades whatsoever, no sign of fungus or disease, and no bugs. And fresh cut. And if a piece accidently rips apart, they throw it on the pallet without charging you for it. Try to get that at Lowes or Home Depot. the best part, they were cheaper than a box store. Now that is people going the extra step to insure your happiness. I will certainly be back to get more.

I bought 6 pallets of St. Augustine grass from Houston Grass last week for my house. The grass was freshly cut on Friday morning and delivered in the afternoon. The grass quality was excellent. Grass looks great and is growing great. They roughed up the back of my husbands truck when loading the grass off the forklift, though.

These guys coach u on how to do new grass installation yourself. Love these guys! My sod took beautifully and I saved the money paying someone else to do it.

I buy about 10 pallets of grass a month. There are about half a dozen suppliers on this side of Houston. Houston grass is consistently the highest quality. Middle of the road on price but the speed of purchasing/loading is second to none. I d be surprised if you re there longer than 3 minutes. SUPER professional. These are the kind of people you can take pictures of your lawn issues to and they ll give you correct responses and help you solve those kinds of problems.

The grass I bought there was pure Saint Augustine and in good condition. It is a good idea to call ahead to be sure they arent sold out, and to arrive early. The person transacting the purchases is really great!

Last summer I called and spoke to someone in the office about having new sod planted in my card. She took my info and said the installer would contact me in about 2 days. A week later, after no call, I called again. Still no returned call. Michael called me to apologize, which I accepted, but chose to use a different company. 3 weeks ago, I called again to get an estimate on having new sod installed. No return call. Called again to complain and Omar finally reached out. He cancelled on me 3 times (twice in the same day) then completely no showed on the 4th attempt. No call, no return text. I called and spoke to Stephanie or Shannon, dont remember the name. She said oh, no, let me check and I will call you RIGHT back. Lol, 5 days later and no call. I understand you are very busy this time of year, but if thats the case, hire more staff. The owner was friendly but the staff is laughable. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my life.. So done trying to give this place my business.

Beware of doing business with this company! Unreliable! When you call to ask a question about your order from the previous person you talked to, you get the Shuffle Game being passed from one person to another and never getting a honest answer. Promised delivery and installation never arrived after two weeks! Unacceptable! :(

Came here to buy a square of grass for my puppy. They were really friendly. It was quick and easy and well-priced. Grass lasted a week without care to it so I was pleased.

The palisades zoysia pallets i ordered came freshly cut and bright green. I followed Michael s advice of watering 2 inches the day the grass was installed and half an inch per day after that. One week later the grass is taking root and looks beautiful. I am a builder and we have been using zoysia for over 5 years and this is by far the highest quality sod we have had the pleasure to use. Great experience as Shannon was very helpful and allowed us to pay over the phone, pick up the 1/2 pallet of grass, which was loaded almost immediately after we arrived at their location. Grass is looking great. We had one pallet of emerald zoysia delivered to fill our town home yard and it has established very nicely, even with three dogs! The section where the dogs don t go has immaculate, deep green, and healthy grass. The section with dog traffic takes more maintenance and we had trouble with brown spots; but after a follow up call to Houston Grass, an application of fertilizer, and some other dog specific treatments, even this heavy traffic area is on track to look fabulous! I would definitely recommend Houston Grass for those looking to install high quality sod (we installed it ourselves, but in they offer installation services as well). Thank you!

*UPDATE 8/25/2020: Raleigh St. Augustine grass is still green and healthy.* ORIGINAL POST JUNE 2018: After years of struggling with the sod laid down over construction debris and sand by our homebuilder we decided to either have a layer of sand or topsoil put over the existing grass or replace the grass. We had seen Houston Grass South many times from Hwy 6, so after a Google search, watching Michael in their YouTube videos and going to look at a sample of their Raleigh St. Augustine, we decided to replace our grass. Shannon in the office recommended 2 installers and when everything was scheduled, she made the payment process easy. The pallets of grass were delivered as promised and are high quality, beautifully green, and lush. Installation is ongoing, but that picture youll see when you Google GREEN with envy is a group photo of our neighbors. Thank you Houston Grass South for answering questions and for delivering an off-the-charts high quality local product that is affordable and showcases our home.

Awesome place to buy grass

I called their office and spoke with Anderson. He answered my questions and advised me how to get to their location. When I arrived, Anderson greeted me and proceeded to load my trailer with a half-pallet of St. Augustine grass while I paid Shannon. She was very friendly and provided me with a sheet with care instructions. Then as I was strapping down the grass, Anderson advised me on how to care for the grass, almost verbatim from the care sheet. I planted the grass and watered it in. It is a beautiful green color and obviously healthy grass. I am very pleased with my experience with Houston Grass.

This place has easy access for cars. I was able to get 15 nice looking pieces of grass in my trunk for a good price. I will shop here in the future for landscaping projects.

More expensive than other places like Garden Center but they have a plenty of stock when many other places are sold out. I bought St. Augustin grass from this place. Grass looks good and healthy. No complaints about the product.

New home owner here in Rosharon. New to the whole buying and laying sod thing. Houston Grass was wonderful in answering all our questions and concerns and quick in delivery. Laid sod in our backyard back in April and now in June looks a hell of a lot healthier then the grass laid by the home builder in the front. Long story short we saved money in the long run and ended up with a better product then if we had paid the builder to do both front and back yards.

I highly recommend Houston Grass. They were prompt in returning my call, prompt in delivery and courteous in every aspect. Take note -- for small jobs (like the 3 pallets that we ordered) the grass is unloaded from either a flat bed trailer or from the back of a pick up -- and unloaded by hand. I was expecting the pallets to be off-loaded from a large flatbed truck with a pallet jack. Not sure why I expected that -- just something that I have seen elsewhere. The upshot is that they can unload the grass pretty much anywhere you want it, and the delivery drivers are fast and friendly. The quality of the grass is excellent. We can say enough positive things about Houston Grass or the installation team that performed the work. The quality of the grass was matched by that of the installation team. The sod was fresh (cut that morning, thick, and green. Omar and his team did an awesome job with the installation. They had to overcome multiple challenges from extreme heat, some unexpected heavy storms, as well as a relatively large amount of surface roots. They overcame the challenges and far exceeded our expectations. The results are simply awesome. They finished yesterday and I have already received at least a dozen compliments from the neighborhood and strongly recommended Houston Grass to those interested. What made this even better for us was the time frame in which we were able to get this completed. It was less than two weeks from request to completion. This is the second time we have used Houston Grass.They performed a smaller job for us (backyard 2.5 pallets) in the spring. This was 14 pallets and about 7000 sq. feet. I will recommend Houston Grass to anyone asks. And, if Omar and his team are available, i would recommend them. He is easy to work with and clearly cares about the customer.

I wanted to install Palmetto San Augustine. I called ahead to this business and spoke with Anderson. He claimed they sold that kind. I drove an hour to their business. When I began asking Anderson some questions, the owner came out of his office to tell me I should not plant that kind of grass and not to buy grass at this time of the year. He was rude to me, and I left very upset and unhappy that I drove all that way for nothing. As I was turning out of their parking lot, a pickup truck passed with two pallets of extremely healthy grass. As I pulled up by him, I asked about his grass. He said it was, in fact, Palmetto. He had already installed 7 pallets and had gone back for two more. He highly recommended Palmetto and he gave me the top of his receipt and his name so I could contact the his grass supplier and use him as a referral. Thank you so much Mr. Lancaster!

Well, that said...the folks at Houston Grass South are tops in their field, helping from selection to delivery. After working with several companies at my Harvey flooded home, it was a VERY PLEASURABLE experience working with Houston Grass. I spoke with Shannon for the order. Omar came to my house for the measurements. First rate sod was delivered exactly on time, Omar and his crew of worker did a great job of laying the sod. After building our first home we needed to find a good company to help us sod our large backyard. After heavy rain a lot of the sand had washed away so we needed someone who could also help us with some grade work and evening out dips and low spots. I called three companies to compare price and services and was immediately impressed with HGS. Anderson came to our home the afternoon of my initial telephone call to walk my back yard and talk to me about the grading and weed control and their services. They delivered extra sand to even out our entire yard and add more support around the fence line. They delivered bright green, very healthy grass and completed the entire install in one day and Anderson called me to give frequent status updates throughout the project since i couldn t be present. About a week after installation i had a concern about a small section that was starting to brown and Anderson came over same day as my call to inspect the grass and talk me through its care. Customer service at its finest!! Highly recommend HGS.

I ordered a pallet of the Palmetto St. Augustine to be delivered to my house. Michael, the owner, delivered it personally. He also spent some time with me discussing the care that the Palmetto requires to prevent fungus. On the whole, I am very pleased with my purchase and would use them again.

Fantastic grass! We decided to go the route of Sod and while we looked at places like Home Depot and Garden centers their grass was always brown and dry. I sent my Husband to pick up grass and he received excellent customer service 2 days in a row here. If you are debating seeding your yard or going with Sod, GO WITH SOD. We wasted hundreds of dollars on guaranteed to grow grass seed with no end result.

HGS is reasonably priced and they give good advice and information.

Call before you go, sometimes they dont have sod due to rain. 1/2 pallet is cheaper than getting 60 separate pieces. Dont run the stop side when turning right.

Good prices on grass

Picked up about 20 pieces of St. Augustine grass here to fill where prior owner had a storage shed. Quality of the grass sold here was far superior to the pieces bought at Houston Garden Center. Also an employee helped me load the car saving me a lot of time and energy. This will definitely be a go-to spot. Doubt anywhere in Houston tops the quality of grass sold here.

I scheduled to have grass put in two weeks in advance. I called the day before to confirm and no one answered and no one called me back. No one showed up on the next day they were supposed to install or called either. Prices were high I found out anyhow. Got it done by another company a few days later for about 60% of their cost.

I suppose if youre not patient enough for grass to grow naturally, then this is an adequate place to buy it.

My experience with you guys was great. I appreciated Hilarys patience in answering my questions. Working with Omar to coordinate installation, through a heavy rain period, was good as his communication was a steady flow of updates. Omar also took the time to instruct me on how to care for the grass moving forward. The grass was a nice deep green and looked incredibly healthy upon arrival. I certainly felt the quality of the grass and pricing made this home improvement a bargain. The tip sheet on the website is not only good for new grass, but existing grass. I now need to figure out how to get my builder installed sod to look as good as the sod from Houston Grass South. Thank you to everyone especially Hilary and Omar.

The grass in our front yard needed to be replaced. After reading many online reviews and calling a couple of places for quotes, I decided on Houston Grass South, and Im so happy that I did. Omar came to our house within a couple of days after my initial call and provided me a quote the same day. He stayed in touch with me throughout the process and even texted me photos when the work was complete (I was at work). Our lawn looks healthy and beautiful. We are so pleased!

Everything was great grass and the installer

The zoyia was beautiful and the install was done with great care. I am very pleased with how our yard looks.

The folks at Houston Grass are very, very personable and they seem to really love their work. They gave us a good deal on our grass and at first we were really thrilled with the service. Only trouble is, they left us with a pile of wooden pallets that have been sitting on our sidewalk for over a week. I have called repeatedly and they keep promising to pick them up, but no one has showed up yet. I finally lost patience and said I will start giving them away! Surprisingly, they didnt seem to mind. Now I have a pile of wood pallets and no way to get rid of them. I was so happy with their service at first, but now its kind of hard to recommend them.
