Ive been a client of Rock Water Farm for several years now. They handle all of my lawn maintenance (mowing, weeding, lawn treatments) as well as completed two beautiful projects for me - a new, extended patio to replace our old one, and a new deck and stairs to our new patio. Everyone comments on the beautiful work they did.

Since our very first project in 2018 the Rock Water team has been phenomenal. We have been happy with the services provided and the responsiveness of the team (Todd, Nelson, Dan, Chalky, Jill, Brittany and many others). I found Rock-water farm very unprofessional. We used their service for landscaping work around our house in 2020 After a year, I noticed some of the shrubs didn t come back, so I reached out to them for replacement ( per contract shrubs will be replaced in such scenario) . I even spoke to Todd about this but no follow up from him either . It was very frustrating so I ultimately gave up but wanted to share my experience. Update: I wanted convey my sincere thanks to the Rockwater Farm team for promptly replacing the shrubs around our property.

We used Turfs Up for the first time this year and had a good experience. They completed the over-seeding, aeration and compost lawn topping. Scheduling was easy, which was one of the factors we chose Turfs Up. We had also shopped the price, and they were the best quote we had received. Thank you for your help.

We have been using Rock Water Farms services for a year, and our lawn already looks so much better. I cannot recommend them more highly. They are efficient, professional and always on time. Plus their staff is always so nice, even if we accidentally have the dogs outside when they arrive.

We have used Rock Water Farm for all of our landscaping needs for the last 9 years. They redid the entire landscaping in our back and front yards when we built our pool many years ago and it looks amazing! They also redid our front walkway with flagstone and brick and it has really increased the curb appeal of our home. Theyve done quite of bit of drainage work in our yard over the last few years to redirect the water flow as well. Its worked great and we no longer have water pooling in our yard and patio, or running down our back steps. Last year, they installed a beautiful vegetable garden for us, with large stepping stones throughout the garden so we could access the vegetables without stepping on the plants. It is awesome! We continue to use them for Spring/Fall cleanup, mulching, and maintenance. I highly recommend Rock Water Farm. Their work is incredible, prices are reasonable and everyone that has come to our house has been wonderful to work with.

RWF has always been responsive to our annual maintenance needs for my yard from mulch to ticks to beautify our planting beds. We havent used RWF for a large project but we are always impressed by community members finished projects.

Our experience with Rock Water has been phenomenal! The owner, Todd, was so easy to work with. He listened attentively to our wants/needs, and we collectively came up with a great plan. This really blew me away, because we have had multiple contractors perform work at our home in the past where a mess was typically left until the job was completed. Rockwater - Todd and his entire team - were great to work with on our outdoor entertaining space. From initial design of a master plan to assistance with the HOA approval process to construction to followup to fill out those little details, I was impressed by the quality of work, professionalism of the crew, responsiveness of the team, and the overall value. We used them to construct a pergola, two-tier patio, firepit, outdoor kitchen, landscape lighting, playground area, and screening trees and additional landscaping - and will definitely use them for our next dream project. From our initial meetings to the project completion, we had a positive experience working with Rock Water Farm. During the design phase, Todd had great design ideas, leveraging the natural state of our plat along with combining our modern preferences. With any large construction project there will be setbacks and shifts that happen due to unforeseen circumstances and COVID-19 delays, which Rock Water handled well. We are truly happy with the support and dedication that went into making our dream yard come true. The attention to design details and quality of work set Rock Water apart. Our Project Manager, Matt and his crew are very knowledgeable and kept a close eye on our project. Matt was always a phone call away. We are very happy with our backyard look forward to creating amazing memories with our family and friends. We highly recommend Rock Water Farm.

Overall, I would not recommend Rockwater Farm for landscaping or lawn services. While more expensive than their competitors, I chose them to completely revamp the landscaping in my yard with a new design based on good reviews. It went okay, however one tree was planted obviously crooked and I had to get them to come back to fix it. Another hydrangea they relocated from one part of the yard to another has never recovered (it looked dead at first, but they reassured me it was just in shock and would come back). It never came back fully and is at best half of what it was before they moved it. The real issue came when I also hired them to do an overseeding of my front yard. I specifically said FRONT yard only, but regardless they came and did the entire yard. The problem is that my back yard (this is last Fall) was extremely damp all the time and the machine they used to do the overseeding tore huge ruts in the grass (photo), leaving bare mud behind. This obviously made me angry because I specifically told them to only do the front yard because of fear of this happening. Well, cut to the chase, SIX MONTHS later they came back to properly try to repair the damage. So yes, my yard was torn up for six months. One excuse I was given was that the lady who worked with me on the job left the company, so I guess I fell through the cracks. They also came once or twice to spread new seed, but I repeatedly told them the back yard is prone to flooding and with all the rain we had last Spring, that seed would always wash away before it took root. Finally, SIX MONTHS after they damaged the lawn and innumerable phone calls by myself, they came and tried to properly fix the lawn with seed and paper-like stuff on top to keep the seed from washing away. Well, cut to last month (almost ONE YEAR later), and the seed they put down didnt root, the paper just sat there and got soaked and I had to tear it out and reseed the area myself. Bottom line, Rockwater never fixed the damage and never offered any compensation for the damage they caused. While they did an okay job on the landscaping, they were expensive and the work was substandard in areas. I wouldnt recommend this company to anyone.

For the first time, we had RWF to our home for a Spring Cleanup. The results were AMAZING!!! We will definitely have them back! The attention to detail was spectacular! In particular, Matt Huff was a rockstar! He was so accommodating and responsive. We are so pleased! Thank you RWF!

We have been using Rock Water Farm for landscaping for several years now and they installed our stone patio and much of our landscaping. In all honesty, Rock Water is a little more expensive than some, and for that reason we switched to a different landscaping company last year....and it was a BIG mistake. My husband and I realized about half way through the season that the new company, while less expensive, just didnt provide the same level of service and didnt bring the same level of expertise about lawn maintenance, soil composition, etc. In just that short amount of time, our yard started taking a significant step in the opposite direction. We switched back this year and couldnt be happier. We live in a neighborhood, where like many neighborhoods in NoVa - all the house kind of look the same, so the best way to set yours a part is with curb appeal - and Rock Water does a fantastic job with curb appeal. Our yard is something we are proud of and love spending time on our beautiful patio, which was a vision that Todd helped us make a reality.

August 2018 Update: Shortly after the review below was posted, the owner contacted me and arranged for a site visit. He and his lieutenant took the time to walk my entire property listening and understanding my concerns. They seemed genuinely interested in making things right going forward. After that discussion, the service level did improve substantially...... and I certainly appreciate their efforts. Recently, it seems that some of the attention to detail (i.e., trimming weeds around the edges, blowing off the pavement and deck, and cutting to the property limits, etc.) have become a little lax but overall the service is better and usually reliable. I did ask for a special service to trim some overgrown bushes and take care of the adjacent weeds. The crew was very responsive (Thanks Sue!) and did a nice job. May 2108 : Our property (about 3 acres) has never looked better but it is not easy keeping Rock Water Farms on track. The management appears to want to do a good job but the employees that actually do the work are often unsupervised and not informed about special circumstances and requirements. Things as simple as knowing the property limits for mowing while avoiding freshly seeded areas that their other crew did earlier in the week. Crews don t seem to understand comprehensive services just I do my job- the next crew does theirs. The description of their standard contract services are ideally written and are hard to apply to our property. We are not located on a 1/4 acre lot in a dense subdivision - it feels like the company struggles to handle our size and needs. Consequently the services are expensive and are often sloppily applied. Their invoices are summarized in a way that you can t really evaluate actual services and hours worked. We decided to try these guys for two years as a trial to see what they can do - we have to be one of their most lucrative customers ($10-$15K/yr) but we surely don t feel like it. Probably need to shop around next year!

Rock Water Farms may not be the lowest price provider but we certainly found them to be of the highest value.

If you re looking for an expert with an incredible depth of knowledge, Brittany s your girl. Not only did she come to our home and spend over an hour walking our property, teaching us about the plants and trees that currently exist, but she truly listened to what we wanted for our future dream yard . My husband and I had a laundry lists of wants and - just to make things fun - we tend to disagree on what we like! This wasn t a problem for Brittany. I was truly amazed when we received her plan for our yard and she somehow managed to check all the boxes and simultaneously make my husband and I happy - linear, clean design for him, flowers and bright color for me, and easy maintenance for both of us! Every single plant or tree she chose had a purpose and the design of the new front walkway is stunning! Above and beyond our design, Brittany has answered a litany of questions from yours truly - from what part of our yard would be best for peonies (my favorite flower), to how we could transplant and repurpose our existing plants. She even explained to me how to split a root bulb so I could get 2 or 3 plants out of just one existing plant, saving me money and helping the existing plant to thrive! She has been a complete pleasure to work with throughout the planning process, and we cannot wait to see our yard transform as her vision becomes our reality!

Truly great customer service on a sod installation. Communicated all through the assignment and went out of their way to make it easier. Jay was exceptionally helpful and the company did a fine job, with a few little extra-helpful tweaks to the original requirement without a problem, such as setting up the hose and sprinkler timer for us. Wed go back to Rock Water quickly next time around.

Bottom Line: Great customer service sets Rock Water Farm apart from the competition. Living in Northern Virginia is a unique experience. Sometimes, it s difficult to get people to call you back when you have some work that needs to be done. So we were shocked when they called us back quickly, even after explaining that we lived in a town home and the job was going to be very small. What s most impressive, however, is the consistent level of customer service we receive from them. At one point, after the crew left the house I noticed some poison ivy crawling up the house, I called them and in no time they dispatched someone at no extra cost to finish up the missed spot. No questions asked, no concerns, they took care of it right away. They treated me, a customer in a town home, with a small yard, the same way they would treat someone who lived on 10 acres. It s also worth mentioning that we receive regular holiday cards from them AND at the start of summer we received a free watermelon with a note attached, thanking us for being their customer. How great is that!?!? Companies don t take customer service serious but I can tell you first hand that Rock Water Farm does.

I stumbled on these guys on a web search...no references or anything. My landscaper had decided to close shop and I needed to switch. I hired them to do winter cleanup on my yard, lay down some mulch, and remove some ugly shrubs. Price was right, crew was great and the job was perfect. The forgot to do one thing I asked them to do...I didnt even notice...but they sent a guy out to fix it after the supervisor noticed. Really great. Ive asked them to pick up my lawn mowing/edging as well.

I started using Rock Water Farm for lawn maintenance last fall and loved their service and quick response to any question I had. This spring sealed the deal for me. Theyve always done a fantastic job but I had a rabbit nest in my front yard and was concerned about it being run over. The guys went above and beyond to ensure that the nest was protected and even got down on their knees to hand trim the grass with clippers around the nest, ensuring it was not disturbed but the lawn still looked great. This is exceptional service and I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for lawn care.

RWF is a very professional landscaping company. Last year was the first time Ive used them. They maintained my lawn (cuts, fertilizer, aeration). RWF was always punctual. Not once did I have to remind them to cut my lawn. Theyre flexible if you do not want the lawn cut based on their recommended schedule. Invoices are emailed monthly in a professional manner. It breaks down every lawn cut visit along with any treatments done to the lawn. Assuming my lawn looks back to normal after all theyve done, I will continue to use them.

Very responsive, and great mowing

Services were fine. I wish they would have touched base with me, when they were done. They left a sign when they were done with the work as opposed to a phone follow. I had an overage on the square footage, I had to pay extra for. Other than those hiccups the work was great, I would highly recommend.

Rock Water Farm is taking care of our yard and landscaping. They always have time to stop and say hi as well as explain their current work and any applicable project information. A complete landscaping makeover in the front and backyard plus installation of a brick and slate front walkway. We had a fantastic experience with Rock Water Farm. The owner, Todd Thomasson, was involved throughout the project to ensure everything was exactly right. Every single person working for Todd was friendly and professional. They showed up on time and delivered exactly what they promised. Our yard looks beautiful. We have a variety of colors around our pool that will bloom at different times. Also, we have trees and other shrubs that will grow to give us privacy. The front walkway turned out even nicer than we expected. I would definitely recommend this company for both landscaping and hardscaping.

Back in the spring of 2010, after just purchasing a foreclosure that needed a lot of landscaping work, we brought in several contractor for quotes, including Rock Water Farm. Todd, the owner of RWF, met with us and told us that the work we needed was about double our then budget. He explained his reasons why and held firm that he didnt think we could do what we really needed and wanted with our existing budget. He made a compelling argument and we appreciated that he would turn away an immediate sale and rather be a trusted advisor. We ended up waiting 12 months so we could save up enough money to complete all the work Todd had recommended. This included clearing out brush, taking down several trees and overgrown shrubs, pruning shrubs and trees we wanted to keep, planting new shrubs and flowers, grading the entire back yard and side yard, and resodding about 3,000 sq ft of lawn. Todd and his team were always very professional, made last minute adjustments, worked quickly and daily kept us up to speed on the overall project schedule and the items to be completed that day. They did very fine work and we will use them for all our landscaping needs in the future. We get compliments on our yard all the time. We have also used Todds lawn service when we need some extra help cutting the lawn. They are dependable and do a good job. Per the above, we are very happy with RWFs work. They are reliable, professional, and very easy to work with. We will use them for all of our future landscaping needs.

These folks are punctual, courteous, and they listen well. The workmanship is spotless. Rates are very reasonable. I like them, they are reliable.I once told them I would like the edges on the driveway be trimmed a bit more; they did that right on the dot, sharp and clear.I have been with them for the past 3 seasons.
