LawnStarter Lawn Care Service in Albany

Lawn Referral Service is a good idea but poorly executed here. Super friendly, respectful telephone staff but poorly trained so they try hard to help but don't succeed - combined with little or no supervisor support to overcome issues. "We'll just come another day" seems to be their response to everything. Add in the contractor coming and demanding $250 to do the job they booked for $155 just smelled like a scam. Beware!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This company hired an outside contractor to mow my mother’s lawn and he tried to get her to pay him directly instead of through the lawnstarter payment process. This was an obvious scam attempt to go around the company and steal her as a client. My mother contacted lawnstarter to resolve this. But then the lawnstarter contractor showed up at her house demanding payment and intimidating her. There seems to be no process for vetting the people they are sending to your HOME and giving your address and contact info to. Their lack of vetting and attention to who they hire put my mother directly in a dangerous situation with a strange man who now knows her address and contact info. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.

I had half a job done on the first tech visit. Then my job got handed to 3 different techs none of which showed up. I finally canceled. Worst service I've ever dealt with. Go somewhere else!!!

Horrible service. I used them last year for bi weekly lawn cutting. They went 8 weeks without showing up. Cited rain, crew had an emergency, short staffed and too busy as reasons. I went out and bought a lawnmower to do it myself. When they finally showed up, they charged me a “long grass fee” yeah it was long because they ignored their customer for two months. Just terrible. Stick with a local outfit.

My schedule was changed twice without informing me. I sent email customer service that my grass long enough since the schedule was changed and I clearly told her i wouldn’t pay any additional long grass fee because the schedule was changed on your end. I totally understand due to weather conditions the schedule was changed but at least I could manage something else if I was informed. After first mowing, I was charged an additional long grass fee. I spoke with customer representative who said my grass was 5” tall thats why $60.48 charged. As per long grass policy, there will add one time service fee between 6 and 9” tall. Technically, there were not supposed to be charged an additional fee for 5” grass tall. However, i requested my refund and I was told the credit apply into the next bill. I replied I rather to have the refund into my original payment than applying the credit to next bill because i won’t use the service anymore. I gave 3 stars because of mowing crew is nice, my lawn looks good, the customer service is very responsive & helpful and the app is super easy to use. I truly appreciate that. But I won’t use the service again as it’s manipulative to customer by changing the schedule until long grass enough for the additional long grass fee. So disappointed.

The LawnStarter app is so easy to use. I made the request and immediately received a quote and paired me with a lawn professional. James is always dependable, does a great job and communicates often. I was so happy I found this service - and you will be too!

What a bate and switch - needed one week of lawn mowing which is offered on the site - plan as day - put this in my enquiry and then was told no - that does not exist. Well then TAKE IT OFF YOUR SITE - dont' waste my time - would have gleefully paid up to 150 dollars to get one mow but could not get past the 3 week mark -Deceptive practices.

This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had! My first appointment was on April 27th, the grass was uneven, there was no edging done at all, the grass was not bagged, there was grass left all over my driveway, back porch, and sidewalks. They came back and still did not complete the yard. I then was pushed back two time 3 weeks out. Calling to get ahold of someone is impossible! I waited 5 1/2 hours and got nothing resolved. I was hung up on twice, I was promised they would come on May 8th and no one showed. Very unprofessional.
